Chapter 393: Chapter 241: Interrogation

Soldiers and government constables patrolled the streets, periodically questioning passersby about their identities and whereabouts.

Fang Yue was secretly glad he had changed his appearance; otherwise, it would have been difficult to slip into the city.

He went to an inn and asked for a secluded room.

He knew he had to act carefully now and not reveal his identity.

Fang Yue stayed in the inn for a full day, not taking a single step outside.

He quietly contemplated the events of last night, trying to find some clues.

He knew that the identities and motives of Yun Qing and the Black Shadow were the key. Only by investigating their backgrounds could he uncover the truth behind the whole affair.

That night, Fang Yue quietly slipped out of the inn, preparing to head to the Observatory to check the scene.

He knew this was very dangerous, but to uncover the truth, he had to take the risk.

Fang Yue arrived outside the walls of the Observatory and found it heavily guarded, with patrolling soldiers everywhere.

He didn’t dare to enter rashly and could only observe from outside the walls.

Suddenly, he saw a black shadow fly out from within the Observatory, landing on a nearby rooftop.

Spurred into action, Fang Yue immediately gave chase.

The Black Shadow didn’t seem to notice Fang Yue tailing him. He moved swiftly through several streets and arrived before an abandoned manor.

Fang Yue hid in the shadows, observing the Black Shadow’s movements.

He watched as the Black Shadow walked to the manor’s gate and knocked lightly a few times.

A moment later, the gate opened, and a person dressed in black walked out.

When Fang Yue saw the person’s face, he was instantly stunned.

It was Yun Qing!

"How did it go?" Yun Qing asked nonchalantly.

"Reporting, Master, everything went smoothly. That Fang Yue has been led into the trap, and now the entire Gongzhou Prefecture is looking for him," the Black Shadow replied in a low voice.

"Very good. Next, continue to lie low at the Observatory and await my next instructions," Yun Qing said with a satisfied nod.

’So these two really are working together. They killed the Inspector of the Gongzhou Prefecture Observatory and then framed me for it!’

Fang Yue remained hidden in the darkness, his brow slightly furrowed.

Yun Qing was actually working with the Black Shadow, and they were also the ones who had murdered the Inspector of the Gongzhou Prefecture Observatory.

’What kind of conspiracy is hidden behind all of this?’

He knew he still had too little information to uncover the full truth.

But he also knew he had been dragged into a massive vortex, and it was too late to pull himself free.

Fang Yue decided he had to investigate Yun Qing’s background.

Fang Yue’s heart was filled with doubt and confusion.

’Yun Qing, a seemingly frail woman with no Martial Arts... what kind of secret is she hiding that allows her to command an Innate Grandmaster Level expert like the Black Shadow?’

He knew that to solve this mystery, he had to conduct a deep investigation into Yun Qing’s background and identity.

After the Black Shadow left, Fang Yue immediately entered the courtyard ahead.

His figure was like the wind as he slipped silently into the abandoned manor.

The manor was deathly silent, as if uninhabited. Fang Yue cautiously searched the area, trying to find some clues.

Fang Yue moved through the dilapidated manor like a nocturnal cat, light and agile.

His gaze was like a torch, not missing a single potential clue.

Although the manor seemed desolate and ruined, Fang Yue could feel a mysterious aura hidden within it.

He trailed Yun Qing to a seemingly ordinary room, only to find the door shut tight, as if sealed by some kind of force.

Fang Yue circulated his Primordial Qi and gently pushed the door open. A blast of cold, sinister air hit him in the face, making him shudder involuntarily.

Fang Yue took a deep breath, steadied his mind, and walked into the room filled with the cold, sinister air. His eyes quickly adjusted to the surrounding darkness, and gradually, he could make out the scene inside.

The room was sparsely furnished, with only a table and a few chairs.

What was unusual, however, was that the walls were covered with all sorts of ancient portraits and Talismans.

These portraits and Talismans emitted a faint glow, adding a mysterious and eerie atmosphere to the entire room.

Fang Yue walked to the wall and carefully observed the portraits and Talismans.

He discovered that the figures in the portraits were all dressed in ancient attire, their expressions solemn and mysterious.

The characters on the Talismans were an ancient script he had never seen before, and they radiated an ancient, powerful energy.

Fang Yue stared at the ancient portraits and Talismans, a strong sense of curiosity welling up inside him.

He knew that these portraits and Talismans must hide some important secret, one perhaps inextricably linked to the identities of Yun Qing and the Black Shadow, and to the truth of the whole affair.

He reached out, attempting to touch the portraits and Talismans to feel the faint power they emitted.

However, just as his hand was about to touch a portrait, an invisible force suddenly struck, violently shoving him back.

Startled, Fang Yue quickly stabilized himself.

’This place is more complex than I thought,’ he realized. ’These portraits and Talismans are likely protected by some mysterious force, preventing outsiders from touching them.’

He didn’t give up. Instead, he circulated his Primordial Qi again, trying to break through the invisible force.

But no matter how hard he tried, the force remained as solid as a rock, preventing him from getting even an inch closer to the portraits.

"Heh heh, I didn’t expect you to be so bold. The entire city is looking for you, yet you still dare to come back!"
