Chapter 758: Chapter 323: Total Annihilation

The moment Chu Lingguang finished speaking, the Array’s light screen rippled before forming a doorway.

Chu Lingguang had considered the possibility that the Nascent Soul Ghosts within the Immortal King’s Tomb could hear him. He thought there was a good chance they would simply reject him and tell him to leave.

But an even greater possibility, he’d thought, was that they would ignore him completely, deeming him insignificant or assuming he harbored malicious intent—just another scavenger hoping to seize the Immortal Fate.

He hadn’t expected to receive a response the moment he finished his request.

He bowed respectfully once more.

He then quickly stepped into the Stone Forest.

Li Qiushui hurried to follow, but before she could step through the doorway, the Array’s light screen automatically fused back together.

"I can’t get in."

Li Qiushui shouted from outside.

Many people looked their way, completely baffled. They couldn’t understand what method Chu Lingguang had used to make the Array open on its own, allowing him to enter the Stone Forest with such ease.

They hoped to see how Chu Lingguang had opened the Array.

"Don’t come in. Just stay outside. The Immortal King’s Tomb is extremely dangerous right now."

Chu Lingguang gazed at the resealed light screen, realizing this was the decision of the Nascent Soul Ghosts. He couldn’t defy it.

"I can’t just wait here."

Li Qiushui said, shaking her head.

"You have to wait, even if you don’t want to. Senior Sister, the Immortal King’s Tomb isn’t as simple as it seems. Trust me."

Chu Lingguang said earnestly.

Recalling the last time she and Chu Lingguang had entered the Immortal King’s Tomb, Li Qiushui suddenly realized that perhaps he understood it better than she did.

So she stopped insisting and watched as Chu Lingguang walked deep into the Stone Forest, entered a cave, and vanished from her sight.

"Do the Arrays in the Stone Forest not affect him?"

"Who is he? He seems to be an Array Master."

"He’s the expert who killed Ma Jihu."

...

The crowd couldn’t help but murmur amongst themselves as they watched Chu Lingguang’s receding figure.

They knew the light screen was just the first barrier. The Stone Forest itself was filled with numerous Restriction Arrays, and wandering carelessly within was a death sentence.

And yet, in front of Chu Lingguang, all the Arrays seemed to be disabled. Not a single one harmed him.

This scene made Li Qiushui all the more certain that Chu Lingguang knew more about the Immortal King’s Tomb than she did.

Chu Lingguang followed the cave, heading straight forward.

Soon, he saw the grand plaza once again.

「The last time he came here.」

He and Li Qiushui had appeared on a cliff face beside the palace complex and had to make their way down to reach the plaza.

This time, however, when Chu Lingguang emerged from the cave, he found himself standing directly on the plaza.

The palace complex before him had been damaged. Some buildings had collapsed, while from others, vast Spiritual Power billowed out, as if an Array was mounting a final resistance.

The plaza was littered with corpses and bleached bones.

A pungent, metallic scent of blood filled the palaces, where the skeletons and bodies of many more people lay.

Clearly, all these people had died fighting for the treasures of the Immortal King’s Tomb.

Chu Lingguang walked on, entering the palace complex. The deeper he ventured, the better preserved the buildings became. It was obvious that fewer and fewer people had made it this far.

But as Chu Lingguang continued onward, a jet-black palace slowly came into view, looming like a great black bear.

A dark red, ghostly light flickered within the black palace, and a terrifying aura drifted out from it.

Waves of bloodcurdling screams echoed from within the black palace.

Chu Lingguang saw that the Practitioners who had been searching for Immortal Fate in the tomb had all entered the black palace. It was unclear if they were being attacked by the Nascent Soul Ghosts or were simply killing one another.

Wails rose and fell in waves from within the black palace.

Chu Lingguang even saw a figure pinned against a window by a black Werewolf, which was gnawing on the person’s back.

’This is a backlash.’

’Even if the Array has weakened, the Guardians of the Immortal King’s Tomb are not to be trifled with by ordinary people. Everyone is inside that black palace... it’s as if they were lured in by the Guardians.’

Chu Lingguang muttered to himself.

’The Immortal Fate within the Immortal King’s Tomb... of course he coveted it. He wanted it desperately.’

But Chu Lingguang understood one thing clearly: he wasn’t worthy of the Immortal King’s Tomb’s Inner Courtyard. Simply being able to use the tomb to escape the Nine-headed Bird and obtain the Heavenly Dao Foundation Establishment Technique—that was already the greatest Immortal Fate he could have hoped for.

With his formidable Heart Guarding Skill and his Mental Realm at the sixth level, he would not be easily led astray by temptation.

BANG!

Just then, a figure smashed through a window and was flung from the third floor of the palace.

The man’s face was a mask of terror. He scrambled to his feet and limped toward Chu Lingguang. The fluctuations of his aura were intense; he was a powerful Foundation Establishment Realm Practitioner.

From the man’s attire, Chu Lingguang could tell he was from the Cyan Cloud Sect.

His spirit was utterly broken. All he wanted was to get away from this place and never again lay eyes on the Immortal King’s Tomb for as long as he lived.

"Kill him!"

The voice of the Nascent Soul Ghosts echoed in Chu Lingguang’s mind once more.

Chu Lingguang shuddered.

WHOOSH!

He didn’t hesitate. He had just killed Ma Jihu, which meant he was already in a fight to the death with the Cyan Cloud Sect. Killing a few more of their Elders wouldn’t change a thing.

So he summoned his Flying Sword and sent it shooting toward the man’s throat.

Having advanced to become a Heavenly Dao Foundation Establishment Practitioner, Chu Lingguang’s understanding of the laws of the Heavenly Dao far surpassed those who had yet to reach that level.

Chu Lingguang didn’t dare defy a command from the Nascent Soul Ghosts.

Even in their spectral form, they were far beyond his ability to handle. Besides, his original purpose for coming here was to take care of the Practitioners from the Cyan Cloud Sect anyway.
