Eternal Life: I Have the Favor System
Chapter 753 - 320: Revenge 2
Chapter 753: Chapter 320: Revenge 2
Everyone was discussing how to break the Restriction Array on the black palace, get inside, and claim the opportunities that awaited them.
’So, that means even if I find Ma Jihu inside the Immortal King’s Tomb, I can’t do anything to him for now.’
’Good thing he isn’t in the Immortal King’s Tomb right now. As long as he’s outside, I can kill him and avenge my master,’ Chu Lingguang thought to himself.
To prevent people from killing each other inside the Immortal King’s Tomb, Chu Lingguang knew he couldn’t make a move in there. To avoid complications, he decided he would kill Ma Jihu before the man even reached the Stone Forest.
"Senior Brother, with your and Senior Sister Li’s strength, you could probably get past the Restriction Array and compete for the Immortal Fate with the Sect Leader and the others," Jiang Ruhong suggested.
Chu Lingguang glanced at Li Qiushui and couldn’t help but shake his head.
Making it out alive last time had been pure luck. Besides, Chu Lingguang knew there were powerful Nascent Soul Ghosts inside the Immortal King’s Tomb.
How much could the strength of those Nascent Soul Ghosts possibly have diminished in just three short years?
Everyone inside was now gathered around a black palace, and he worried it was a trap set by the Nascent Soul Ghosts. To go in at a time like this would be suicide.
Chu Lingguang didn’t think that wiping their Spiritual Positions for them last time would grant him the protection of the Nascent Soul Ghosts forever.
After all, they guarded the Immortal King’s Tomb to prevent anyone from disturbing their master’s peace.
Stumbling into the Immortal King’s Tomb by accident last time was one thing, and making it out alive had been a great blessing. To run back in now, Chu Lingguang felt, would be suicide.
Even with the sect’s experts there, he couldn’t afford to be reckless.
But when he thought of Yang Rong being inside, Chu Lingguang turned to Jiang Ruhong. "Something unusual might be about to happen in the Immortal King’s Tomb. Send a message with the Communication Jade Scroll and tell my master I have something important to discuss. Ask her to come out for a moment."
"Tell her it’s about the Immortal Fate in the Immortal King’s Tomb," Chu Lingguang added, worried Yang Rong wouldn’t take his words seriously.
"Alright."
Jiang Ruhong quickly took out a Jade Scroll and sent a message to the Profound Celestial Sect leadership inside the Immortal King’s Tomb.
He was in charge of standing guard outside and had the necessary Communication Jade Scrolls to contact those inside if anything happened.
Although Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui were stronger than Jiang Ruhong, they had just returned from the Great Yuan and only recently arrived at the Stone Forest. While they also carried Communication Jade Scrolls, they couldn’t use them to directly contact Yang Rong or the Sect Leader of the Profound Celestial Sect.
They had to send their message through Jiang Ruhong, the person in charge.
So, Chu Lingguang waited outside for news.
At the same time, he kept an eye on the movements of the Cyan Cloud Sect. He knew Ma Jihu was still somewhere in the Ancient Perilous Land and hoped to spot him the moment he returned.
Since Ma Jihu had only recently exited the Immortal King’s Tomb, Chu Lingguang worried that he might have found some opportunity inside and was now hiding in a safe place to absorb it.
And so, Chu Lingguang waited outside the Stone Forest for three days.
In all that time, not a single person came out of the Immortal King’s Tomb.
Neither Yang Rong nor any other members of the Profound Celestial Sect emerged.
This made both Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui sense that something was wrong.p>
"Are you sure you told them I had news about the Immortal Fate?" Chu Lingguang asked Jiang Ruhong to confirm.
"Of course. I wouldn’t dare deceive you."
Jiang Ruhong showed Chu Lingguang the message on the Jade Scroll.
"If the Sect Leader and the others received this message, they would have sent someone out to verify it, even if they were suspicious. But since no one has come out for three days straight, there are only two possibilities," Li Qiushui analyzed. "First, they never received the message. The Communication Jade Scroll might be blocked by the Restriction Array, preventing any message from getting through. Second, they received the message but are unable to leave. They could have found the Immortal Fate, or they could be trapped. But this is less likely. If they were simply unable to come out, they could have at least replied via jade scroll. We haven’t received any message at all."
Li Qiushui didn’t voice all her thoughts.
She knew there was a third possibility.
That everyone inside had met with disaster.
But that possibility was minuscule. After all, with so many people inside the Immortal King’s Tomb, it was impossible for them all to vanish without a single trace.
"Should we send someone in to check on them?" Jiang Ruhong ventured.
"And who would you send in?" Chu Lingguang asked curiously.
"I don’t have the authority, but Senior Brother Zhou was injured when he went in. He’s recuperating in a nearby cave filled with rich Spiritual Power. Perhaps we could ask him to take a look."
"Senior Brother Zhou is in a cave?"
Chu Lingguang knew the "Senior Brother Zhou" Jiang Ruhong was talking about was Zhou Changqing.
’I know where he went!’
At that moment, Chu Lingguang had an epiphany based on what Jiang Ruhong had just said.
For the past three days, he had been monitoring the Cyan Cloud Sect, trying to find Ma Jihu.
But there hadn’t been any sign of him.
It was as if the man had left the Ancient Perilous Land entirely.
But now, hearing that Zhou Changqing had emerged from the Immortal King’s Tomb and was recuperating in a nearby cave, he had a thought. Perhaps Ma Jihu had also been injured and was now healing in a place with abundant Spiritual Qi.
’Maybe if I just look for places with dense Spiritual Power, or some newly-established cave residences, I can find Ma Jihu and avenge Guo Wei.’
"What are you muttering about?" Li Qiushui asked.
"Nothing. I just thought of something. Senior Sister, you and Junior Brother Jiang should stay here and keep an eye out for my master. Notify me the moment she appears. I’m going to look around nearby," Chu Lingguang said.
"You’re going to look for Ma Jihu."
Li Qiushui grabbed his hand. After spending three years with Chu Lingguang, how could she not see what he was thinking?
"That’s right."
Seeing that she had seen through him, Chu Lingguang didn’t hide it.
"Master Guo was a loyal and righteous man. I’ll go with you," Li Qiushui said.
"No. Ma Jihu is powerful. If you come along, Senior Sister, I won’t be able to fight without holding back. Besides, if we both show up, it’ll just make him more alert."
Chu Lingguang shook his head.
No matter how he looked at it, Li Qiushui was only at the twelfth level of Qi Refining, while Ma Jihu was an Immortal Dao Foundation Establishment expert—a prominent figure even among those at his level.
He was far stronger than Xue Bin from the Demon Sect.
"I can help you scout for information," Li Qiushui offered, knowing she wasn’t strong enough.
"You can help just by staying here and keeping an eye on things," Chu Lingguang said with a smile.
Li Qiushui opened her mouth to speak, then hesitated.
Chu Lingguang understood her feelings. After more than three years together, even if no romance had blossomed between them, they saw each other as important friends and wouldn’t let the other walk rashly into danger.
She worried for his safety, and he worried for hers in equal measure.
So, Chu Lingguang added, "This is my master’s blood feud. I want to settle it myself!"
"Well... alright. Be careful."
Li Qiushui nodded reluctantly.
She had been there to see Master Guo off and understood how important he was to Chu Lingguang. It was a feud akin to avenging one’s own father; it truly wasn’t her place to interfere.
"Okay. Keep an eye out for news of my master."
After repeating his instructions, Chu Lingguang asked Jiang Ruhong for the exact location of Zhou Changqing’s cave and sped off in that direction.
The journey took a full hour of flight.
Finally, a massive—one might even say boundless—lake appeared before him.
Taihu!
It was a famous lake within the Ancient Perilous Land.
The lake was dotted with countless islands.
A range of winding hills stretched for over a thousand miles along its shore. Legend said a Spirit Stone Vein ran beneath Taihu, which was why the lake was home to so many Water Demons.
Some ascetic cultivators also favored this thousand-mile mountain range, carving cave residences into its slopes to practice their cultivation.
As Chu Lingguang arrived at Taihu, he immediately sensed the dense fluctuations of Spiritual Qi. While cultivating here wouldn’t result in overnight miracles, the speed at which one could absorb Spiritual Qi and strengthen their Spiritual Power was several times faster than outside.
It was like practicing within a Spirit Gathering Array.
If not for the constant threat of Demon Beasts and Water Demons, and the layers of other dangers, cultivators would likely have flocked here to establish their cave residences.
"Zhou!"
Following Jiang Ruhong’s directions, Chu Lingguang successfully located Zhou Changqing’s cave residence. He figured that since Zhou was recuperating here, he might have noticed any sign of Ma Jihu.
