Chapter 715: Chapter 302: Message from the Undead, Slaying the Immortal

"Run!"

Li Qiushui grabbed Chu Lingguang’s hand again. Her worst fears had come true—they had been discovered by the people of the Cyan Cloud Sect after all.

Being targeted by a Golden Core cultivator was even more terrifying than being chased by six Nine-headed Birds.

Especially since they were inside the Immortal King’s Tomb.

SWOOSH.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Venerable Changxu sent his Flying Sword shooting toward them.

Faced with a remote sword strike from a Golden Core cultivator, even Li Qiushui didn’t dare to block it. A single touch, even if not fatal, would leave her severely wounded.

As the Flying Sword approached, their first instinct was to dive into the palace to avoid being instantly killed by Venerable Changxu.

HUMMM!

But just as the two of them thought death was certain...

A mystical power emanated from the palace beside them. Tiles fell from the roof, assembling into a suit of armor that blocked Venerable Changxu’s Flying Sword.

"Gratitude received from the Nascent Soul Ghosts. 60,012 Favor Points obtained."

The next moment, a line of text once again appeared before Chu Lingguang’s eyes.

’So the tiles that fell from the roof were the protection of the Nascent Soul Ghosts.’

"Run!"

Li Qiushui didn’t know why this was happening, but her strongest impulse was to get Chu Lingguang out of the Immortal King’s Tomb. She knew the tomb held a supreme Immortal Fate, but logic triumphed over desire.

Countless Nascent Soul Strong People had died in this tomb like cannon fodder, many couldn’t even get past the Stone Forest. Just getting this far had used up all their luck.

How could they dare dream of obtaining the Immortal Fate within the tomb?

Especially with how bizarre everything was.

Even the experts from the Cyan Cloud Sect had lost more than half their numbers. They hadn’t even managed to fully cross the plaza, being blocked by stone carvings and divine statues on their way to the palace.

The palace’s ornaments, the stone carvings, and even the figures etched into the walls all seemed to spring to life, relentlessly charging toward the members of the Cyan Cloud Sect.

Li Qiushui had never experienced anything like this. She knew in her heart that even if she reached the Golden Core Realm, her chances of survival here would be slim to none.

And so, under the watchful eyes of the Cyan Cloud Sect members, Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui ran toward the exit.

"This way!"

Chu Lingguang realized they were being protected by the Nascent Soul Ghosts.

Realizing a detour would take too long, he boldly pulled Li Qiushui straight across the plaza, running toward the exit.

Li Qiushui steeled herself and let Chu Lingguang drag her toward the exit. The way the roof tiles had slid down to form armor and block Venerable Changxu’s attack made her realize that perhaps Chu Lingguang was in resonance with the tomb’s mysterious inhabitants.

She even began to think that one of the tomb’s Guardians might really be his ancestor, and that it was this ancestor who was protecting them.

Otherwise, how else could she explain what had just happened?

"Senior Brother."

The members of the Cyan Cloud Sect looked anxious.

"They must have obtained the fated opportunity!"

"How did they get in here first?"

"They have the Immortal Fate! We can’t let them get away!"

"Quick, stop them!"

Venerable Changxu and the other Cyan Cloud Sect experts yelled.

As they neared the palace, they were met with resistance from all sides. Waves of power surged toward them. The stone statues and the figures emerging from the murals all seemed to possess the cultivation of the Foundation Establishment Realm, and the number of Cyan Cloud Sect members was visibly dwindling.

Even Venerable Changxu, with his Golden Core Realm cultivation, and two other experts of similar strength were gravely wounded by the stone statues. Then, as tiles slid down from the roof, they found themselves trapped inside a courtyard.

The tiles had formed a four-sided wall.

The tomb’s Guardians were using the Restriction Array here to corner and annihilate them.

As Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui crossed the plaza, they glanced back just in time to see Venerable Changxu’s Flying Sword get swatted away by a stone statue. Simultaneously, the tiles on the palace roof behind the Venerable slid down like rain, moving like strange ripples as they formed four walls, trapping him and his men inside.

Under the effects of the Restriction Array, Venerable Changxu and his men seemed to have lost the ability to fly.

Even as Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui crossed the plaza, they felt their feet grow as heavy as lead—the suppressive effect of the Array. Fortunately, the stone statues in the plaza didn’t trouble them.

The two of them finally crossed the plaza unscathed, the exit drawing ever closer.

"Is one of your ancestors really a Guardian of the Immortal King’s Tomb?"

Li Qiushui asked.

She felt it was the only way to explain their current situation; she had never heard of anyone entering the Immortal King’s Tomb and receiving protection.

A mysterious power was actually protecting them.

"Of course!"

Chu Lingguang couldn’t explain.

All he could do was pull Li Qiushui quickly through the exit gate.

Of course, before leaving, he didn’t forget to turn and bow deeply toward the palace in worship.

Previously, when Li Qiushui had seen Chu Lingguang do this, she had been baffled and even disdainful. Now, however, she knelt with a devout expression, following his lead and prostrating herself in worship toward the palace.

It was as if her ancestors were also Guardians of the Immortal King’s Tomb. Her pious display put even Chu Lingguang to shame. If he hadn’t pulled her up, she might have kept on kowtowing.

"They’re gone?"

A white-robed elder from the Cyan Cloud Sect shouted.

"Junior Brother, get me out of here!"

Venerable Changxu yelled to the white-robed elder.

He was certain that Chu Lingguang and Li Qiushui had obtained the Immortal Fate of the Immortal King’s Tomb. Otherwise, why would the stone statues in the plaza have ignored them? Why wouldn’t the creatures that emerged from the murals have harmed them?
