Eternal Cultivation Of Alchemy
Chapter 3955: Dao Sword
Blinding yellow light escaped out of Nightslayer as though the sun were coming up from the horizon at dawn. The Yang aura from it filled the arena, causing much of the Yin in the surroundings to fade away.
The Winter God felt herself growing anxious at the power the sword held in terms of Yang. No artifact of hers had ever held this much power after all. The Yin Vein Orb could compare somewhat, but that had long since been stolen away, so that couldn’t help her either.
Ashmaker looked at the building attack with no sense of worry. The attack was powerful from what he was sensing, but it was a power that could maybe shake the faith of a Divinity. He was a Celestial. This could not hurt him.
What he was worried about, however, was the potential this could end up showing. He had asked to see what Alex could do with the sword. If it ended up being anything good, he would have to think of ways to counter that right after.
He could not allow Alex’s showcase of power to stun the audience for too long.
"Go ahead!" he cried out. "Attack already."
Alex held the power in place, not immediately doing so. He took a deep breath and smiled faintly.
"I was thinking of going for it next, but here’s a little preview of what shall come soon in the future."
Before the Fire God could ask what he was talking about, a powerful heat emerged all around Alex in a powerful vortex, strong enough to burn anything in the surroundings.
’Yang Heat!’ the Fire God thought as he recognized what he was sensing. ’So he understands the Dao of Yang Heat as well.’
He had been there to see Alex learn two. But it appeared he had learned another one beforehand as well.
However, something about this Yang Heat was weird. It felt like a Dao, but for some reason, it didn’t act like it.
Flickers of something appeared and vanished around Alex, staying ever in a flux state, never becoming solid. More and more appeared around Alex until they began finding stability as beads of yellow light that remained for a few seconds or more.
Alex concentrated and they began lasting longer and longer. Until they were all that hung in the air around him, like ten thousand fireflies, frozen mid-flight.
Not many understood what they were looking at. To many, it was perhaps just a normal attack, possible through the sword.
However, a few of the Gods and Sages immediately recognized it for what it was.
"Wait, wait, wait," the Spear God quickly got on his feet as he held the railing before him and leaned further ahead. "What the hell? Are you guys sure that kid is really just an Immortal?"
"You’re kidding me," Killshot said far in the back. "How come he can use it already?"
"Dear god," the Staff God said with wide eyes. "I thought he was talented when I saw him fight in the tournament. But it seems he had been hiding his actual strength back then as well."
"Damn! This duel just keeps getting more and more interesting," Woodsbane, the Axe God, said with a hint of laughter in his voice. "That is a Yang Dao he’s using, is he not?"
The Weapons God said nothing, simply staring at Alex with slightly wide eyes. Just how talented was he exactly? If he went for it, could he take his spot as well?
"That can’t be what I think it is, can it?" the Saber God asked, locks of blonde hair falling out of place as he jerked ahead to see it more closely.
Bladedance remained in her seat, carrying a smug little smile. It was fun to watch the expressions of these ignorant gods as they finally saw what her disciple could do.
The other gods, most of whom did not truly comprehend the situation, turned and began asking as to what exactly was happening. What were those points of light around Alex?
The Spear God was the one to answer them.
"That is the kid’s Dao Sword," he said. "His sword skills, it seems, have advanced to a level that he can form Dao Swords now. And from the looks of it, there is absolutely no distinction between the Dao and the sword. They have become one and the same."
"Dao Sword?" someone asked. "That comes after the Sword Heart, doesn’t it? I heard most people can’t even learn Sword Heart in their lifetime."
"That is correct," the Spear God said. "And yet this kid has done it."
"Why does it look like that?" someone else asked. "Shouldn’t Sword Qi look like... swords?"
"The shape of the Qi depends on the intent of the person using it," the Spear God answered. "Some Dao are hard to visualize, so the shape remains the same in the user’s mind. However, the kid is clearly using some sort of Yang Dao, and he must assume it to be a point of light or something that gives off light. It’s just his mind that’s done the changing. Nothing about the function itself has changed, however."
Many gods nodded along.
"What can it do?" someone finally asked.
The Spear God grinned. "That, we will have to wait and see."
The thousands of floating motes of light that were his Sword Qi that formed when he attached the Dao of Yang Heat into it slowly converged toward his sword, covering it until it vanished into the already blinding light that came out of his sword.
A high-pitched sound came from the sword at the same time, as though the power within it was compressing higher and higher. All the way until it could no longer be made stronger.
There was no technique being used here. No special skill.
All Alex was doing was using his Dao Sword, along with the technique carved into Nightslayer at the moment of its creation.
Alex raised Nightslayer and swung it down as he finally released the attack.
