Chapter 3954: Nightslayer’s Introduction

  • Next Chapter

Ashmaker’s eyes narrowed hearing Alex’s words.

"You have something better than the robe?" he asked.

"Of course," Alex said and brought out Nightslayer, the yellow sword with patterns of black near the hilt of the blade. He raised it slightly for all to see, though none truly seemed to grasp what made the sword so special from just the looks of it.

After all, unlike Ninecrest, Nightslayer did not inherently pump out any aura for all to see. As such, only a few managed to sense just how special the sword seemed to be.

The Fire God noticed the powerful Yang aura immediately, but held in his expression.

"A sword?" he asked. "I did hear you were a swordsman, but I did not hear anything about your sword being special."

Alex smiled. "The news that reached you did not contain the whole truth, for I did not show it all myself," he said before slowly raising Nightslayer before them all. "Let me introduce you to my blade, Nightslayer."

Qi flowed into the sword, and before anyone could even consider the meaning behind the name, bright light flooded out of the sword, along with powerful Yang aura. The aura itself was weak in terms of power as it was only created due to Immortal Qi, but the intensity behind it and the overall quality was enough to leave everyone stunned.

Even the Fire God could not hide his expression of surprise.

"What... what is this?" he asked. "Where did you find this sword?"

"Find?" Alex asked through the aura. "I made it myself."

"Impossible! A mere Immortal like you could never make an artifact this powerful."

"That is true," Alex answered. "A mere Immortal could never make a sword such as this. But I am not a mere Immortal, am I? You forget, senior Ashmaker. We are dueling for a reason."

The Fire God’s eyes narrowed. "You used that to make the sword?"

Several other gods heard their conversation as well, though only a few truly understood exactly what ’that’ referred to. Most gods outside of the Half-Gods did not know about the Primordial energy.

But even those that did were a little confused.

"That power does not lend itself well to creating new Artifacts. If it was possible to make something this powerful with just it, we would have hundreds, if not thousands, of such powerful artifacts floating around," the Fire God said. "So I can only assume you are lying."

"Not lying," Alex said. "As I said, I had not revealed the whole truth before, and I still have not."

Alex slowly lowered his sword and held it to the side. "As I said, the robe is not my only Primordial artifact."

The Fire God’s face fell instantly. "That’s... that can’t be."

Alex turned to the audience. "Nightslayer was made using the Heart of the Sun Crow."

The words left the audience stunned for a long few seconds. And then, they burst out into clamor.

"What? Another Primordial artifact?"

"The Three-Legged Crow’s Heart? How did he get his hands on it?"

"Did the Artifact God make this one as well?"

Several eyes turned toward Shen Yaojia around the same time, waiting for an answer. "I was of aid, but not enough to be considered involved in the making of that sword. The truth is, he made it all by himself."

Those words made everyone turn back toward Alex, their minds holding a single thought.

There was someone else out there that knew how to turn Primordial beast corpses into Artifacts. And this time, it was just an Immortal.

The Forest God crossed his arms, looking from Alex to his sword. The aura he sensed today was similar to what he had sensed that day in the Artifact God’s workshop.

"So they lied back then," he said faintly. "This was what they were making."

"First a robe, now a sword. Both made from the body of a Primordial," the Golden God said with some hint of surprise in his voice. "Surely I’m not the only one who is thinking that he might have more."

He looked toward the other gods, and it was clear that the consensus between the others was the same. Alex could tell them he had no more of it left, but they would not believe it. He had to have more of where it came from.

That, or he had to know where it came from so they could go get it.

For now, however, many of the gods began considering how they should go about getting their hands on it. Should they be friendly with Alex and get it that way, or should they maybe oppose him and try to get it through violence?

While those thoughts lingered in their heads, they focused on the duel, watching what would happen next.

"The heart of the Three-Legged Crow?" Ashmaker asked. "Is that true?"

"That is the truth," Alex said.

The man crossed his arms, looking at the sword with a more careful expression. "I don’t see anything that can inherently tell me what it does," he said. "So why don’t you show me what your sword is capable of?"

Alex thought for a moment on what to do and nodded.

"I only recently made the sword, so I haven’t had the time to refine it to a point where the spirit inside is fully formed," Alex said. "Discounting that, however, I can use an attack through it."

Alex turned and looked around.

"What are you searching for?" Ashmaker asked.

"A target," Alex said.

"A target for your attack?" the Fire God asked, before laughing slightly. "Attack me."

Alex paused and turned toward the Fire God. "Are you okay with me attacking you?"

The man laughed out loud. "You could never hurt me even if you tried, so why don’t you just stop making excuses and attack me already?"

Alex blinked once and then nodded.

"Very well," he said as he poured his Qi into the attack. Only, it wasn’t regular Immortal Qi, but instead his Divine Qi.

"I will be attacking now."
