Eternal Cultivation Of Alchemy
Chapter 3937: The Final Days
Alex found clarity some time later, opening his eyes to the world around him. He was still in his room, preparing for the breakthrough. His Spiritual Sea was safe, the Sun God still sealed away.
It all really had just been an Inner Demon.
’So I’m going to start getting those again, huh?’ Alex thought.
Had he known he might be facing this, he would have prepared for it. The lack of preparation had nearly caught him off guard. There was a major difference between going into cultivation having faced all of your threats and going into it without considering any of them, after all.
Alex felt it was more luck than anything that he managed to get out of it without regressing and maybe going through Qi deviation.
"I should’ve known it wasn’t him from the start," Alex thought with a sigh.
In the first place, he hadn’t checked his Spiritual Sea when facing the Inner Demon at all. Had he done that, it would’ve likely been cleared up instantly. Another was the Sun God’s insistence on killing Alex, when that was the last thing he wanted to do. Alex was the vessel for him to use, so letting him die would be a really bad idea for him.
Another one was his insistence on killing everyone else. The Sun God wasn’t wrathful. He wouldn’t go around killing innocents who didn’t deserve it. The God himself was atoning for some sin he committed in the past, so he wouldn’t go adding to his own guilt.
Had he considered it all from the start, he might have been freed from the Inner Demon long ago.
Alex took a deep breath and closed his eyes again, returning his focus to the breakthrough. Slowly, all memories he held of the Inner Demon began fading away from his mind like a bad dream. All that remained were impressions at best and an understanding in the end that his Inner Demon had taken the form of the Sun God.
If nothing else, it told Alex that he still feared the Sun God and what he would mean for him. What he wasn’t sure about was whether he was afraid the Sun God would be released on his own, or whether he would be forced to release him since one thing he would very likely need to do when reaching the Divine realm was to turn all of his Spirits into Creations, and that would involve the Dragon Father as well.
If the Sun God’s presence made for a hard stop to his cultivation progress, then he would have no option but to either choose to remain in mediocrity or give up his body to let the Sun God come forth again.
Alex grew anxious each time he had to think of his choice.
For now, though, he simply focused his attention back on cultivating, and over the course of half a day, his Immortal Qi began growing denser and denser until a small portion of it instantly condensed, turning into a single drop of Divine Qi.
Alex had broken through to the Immortal Spirit 1st realm.
The successful breakthrough was a thing to celebrate, but in the situation he was in, Alex couldn’t afford to do anything of that nature. With the day of the duel approaching closer and closer, there was only so much time he still had.
And all of that, he focused on either forming another Spirit or learning a new Dao.
And he did that throughout the years until the God’s council day got closer.
When he was a month or so away, Alex let everyone leave his Soul Space and arrive outside. Cultivating inside his Soul Space, many of them had reached a higher cultivation base, while a lot of them had focused their attention on absorbing aura into their Origins.
Alex stopped cultivating as well and began spending the remaining month with his family and friends.
As the day approached, a few people came to meet him as well. According to many of them, the duel was being advertised throughout the palace, and many of the people, including the regular guards and workers, were being invited to watch it.
Alex couldn’t help but sigh upon hearing that. The Fire God was truly intent on humiliating him in front of everyone. Since one required people’s belief to be a Half God, he was using that same belief to make them believe he could never be a God.
Alex had to admit, it was going to be quite effective.
Hao Ya came over to meet him one of those days. She had grown much more confident these days and had even broken through at least once. As the first disciple of the Sky God’s first disciple, she had a lot of authority to her name, giving her opportunities that she might’ve otherwise not received.
She talked with Alex and the family for a while before leaving.
Battlesage arrived at another time and chatted for a while as well. He had been with his grand-disciple for a long time now, both learning from him and teaching him what he knew himself. The War God respected Battlesage too deeply and was incredibly happy to be in his presence.
They shared stories of the Hell Emperor throughout these years and had grown much closer as a result.
Alex and the rest were happy to learn how Battlesage was doing. The old man had been in Hell for hundreds and thousands of years. Outside, he was a stranger to everyone. Thankfully, there were people he could call his own, and people who would call him theirs as well.
Alex asked both Hao Ya and Battlesage if they had told anyone else about his secrets, but they both understood better than to go around saying what they knew.
Alex thanked them, but that sadly didn’t answer how the Mind God knew all of it. Had that truly just been a hunch?
Whatever the truth was, Alex sadly couldn’t focus on it for much longer anyway.
For the day of the Duel had finally arrived.
