Chapter 3906: Nine Sun

Alex very much appreciated the ability of his robe to be destroyed and reformed. As a man whose entire body was very frequently destroyed, it was good to know that his robe would now come back with him.

The Artifact God seemed quite proud as well. "I call this skill of the robe ’First Sun: Emberfeather Assembly.’"

"Emberfeather Assembly, huh?" Alex looked down at the robe with a nod. "That’s not a bad name. What do you mean by First Sun, though?"

Shen Yaojia grinned. "The way the robe is formed, it has nine different techniques. One for each of the suns on its body."

Alex froze for a long few seconds. "Nine?"

The woman nodded. "I didn’t think I would get that far with it, but with a bit of overstatement here and a bit of cheating there, I managed to reach nine total skills for the robe. One for each of the nine suns I embroidered into it."

Alex looked through the robe again, having only seen eight before this. As it turned out, he had missed a large sun on his back entirely, making it nine.

"Nine skills. That’s... incredible," Alex said. "I can’t even begin to imagine how you could put that many techniques into a single, simple artifact like this one."

"Hold your horses," the Artifact God said. "Don’t get too excited right now. A few of those techniques aren’t really techniques, but properties of the robe itself. Also, you can’t use 6 of those skills for now anyway."

Alex narrowed his eyes. "Why not?"

"Because your cultivation base is too weak," she said. "Let me explain. The robe has 9 skills in total. 5 of those act all on their own. 4 of them need active Qi input to work. Of the 9, 3 can be used with Immortal Qi, 3 with Divine Qi, and 3 require Celestial Qi."

"I see," Alex said, looking down at the robe. "And each of the techniques is located inside one of the suns upon it?"

"Yes. The Qi veins are inside the white suns," she explained. "The First Sun, on your right wrist, holds the Qi lines for Emberfeather Assembly. The Second Sun, on your left wrist, holds Heavenly Concealment. While it sounds like something the Heavenly Silkworm does, it’s a little better than that. Passively, it only hides you from the Heavens. But if you wish to activate it, you can disrupt anyone or anything with the ability to register aura. You will appear to be practically invisible to their senses."

Alex looked down at his robe. That sounded exactly like what he could already do with his Sun God’s body, but this could be useful in the future. He would have to see.

If nothing else, he could have someone else wear the robe to take advantage of the skill.

"That’s the Second Sun. What’s the next?" Alex asked.

"The next is the one on your right bicep. Third Sun: Flame Immunity. That robe is completely immune to fire, and so is anyone wearing it," she said.

Alex took a moment to take that information in. While it did sound very surprising, it wasn’t as good as it sounded.

Being immune to fire didn’t mean someone was immune to the damage that came from someone who used fire to attack. The physical force behind those attacks, shockwaves from explosions, or even just regular Qi inside the fire would still end up hurting him if they hit.

It was only pure fire that he would be immune to.

And while that was great, it wasn’t incredible.

"Flame Immunity isn’t bad," Alex said. "What next?"

"Well, these three are the skills inside the robe that you can use with Immortal Qi. For the moment, that should be all you can use," the Artifact God said. "I can tell you what the next ones are, but I don’t think there is any way for us to test those out. Besides, they require increasingly larger amounts of Qi to even activate, so it’s beyond your capacity to utilize them."

Alex nodded.

"Be that as it may, please tell me everything."

The woman thought for a moment and nodded. "Alright, if that is what you want."

For the next several minutes, the Artifact God went through the remaining 6 techniques embedded into the robe. There was some overlap between those techniques and his own techniques and abilities, but they were unique enough that he could find special cases where he could use them.

After the Artifact God went through the technique assigned to the Ninth Sun on his back, Alex fell into thought. Three of those techniques needed Celestial Qi to use, so as he was now, Alex was never going to be able to use them.

"Nine different techniques," he said. "Was there a reason why you chose to make exactly nine of them?"

"Well, nine sounded like an auspicious number. And it shows up everywhere when looking at Yang and Yin, so I decided to use it. There’s also the Nine Yang Divine Tree, which is partially an inspiration for this piece as well. The nine tribulation lightning bolts. Nine realms per cultivation realm. Everything."

Alex couldn’t help but agree with her about the number 9. It was a number of the Heavens and came up quite frequently. Even in his life, nine had some meaning.

He was the Ninth Undying God.

He had nine Creations.

Nine was the number of Daos Yang had.

He liked it quite a bit.

He looked at his robe again, slowly feeling it while nodding constantly.

"We need to put it through the Building Bracer, don’t we?" he asked.

"You’ll have to ask Senior Three-Legged Crow to remove the aura from inside it," the Artifact God said. "That shouldn’t take long."

Alex nodded. "I will do that soon, but before that, I think we need to give it a name."

"Oh, I already had one in mind," Shen Yaojia said.

Alex looked up. "Go on."

She smiled.

"It’s a simple one. The Nine Sun Robe."
