Chapter 3842: War God Arrives

Alex arrived at the Sky God’s palace again, followed by Sunflare. This time around, Bladedance wasn’t there. When he walked into the place, he found the hall to be emptier than normal.

What previously had 4 regular Gods, 4 Celestials, a Fatekeeper, and his aunt now only had 2 Celestials and a single God whose cultivation base had reached a depth that Alex couldn’t see.

With a bare bronze upper half, the War God sat before the Sky God, turning only when he sensed Alex’s arrival. His expression didn’t change much upon noticing Alex, though he did raise an eyebrow when he noticed Sunflare standing behind him.

He stood up and gave a subtle bow in greeting to the Celestial.

Sunflare looked at the man with a raised eyebrow. "You are the War God?" he asked.

"Is senior aware of me? I’m flattered," the War God said with a smile.

"Not really," Sunflare answered. "I just knew it would be you who was coming. I guess we all did."

The War God narrowed his eyes in confusion, though no one said anything to clear up his questions.

"Greetings, War God," Alex said with a similar bow to the one the War God had given Sunflare. "We meet again."

"Young Dawnblade," the War God said. "Yu Ming, was it? How have you been?"

Alex shrugged slightly. "Considering everything, I suppose it’s good enough."

The man nodded. He was about to speak again when his eyes suddenly narrowed and his head tilted slightly in confusion before his emotions gave way to surprise.

"Your Brilliance, are my senses deceiving me?" the War God asked.

The Sky God didn’t answer immediately. "What exactly are you sensing?" she asked.

The War God gulped. "He feels like a Half God. Though, that can’t possibly be true, can it?"

He looked back at Alex, trying to determine the truth. But he couldn’t sense anything different between Alex and the Sky God, except for the intensity of their auras. An aura that made him want to fall to his knees and pray to these people.

"If you can’t tell the difference, then maybe there is no difference," the Sky God said before turning toward Alex and Sunflare. "Please, sit."

Alex walked up to the couch and sat down, with the War God standing before him. After a few seconds, the War God sat as well, his eyes focused on Alex the entire time.

"This is truly incredible," the War God said. "This... is beyond people’s understanding, isn’t it? How did you do it?"

"How did I do what?" Alex asked.

"Become a Half God, of course," the War God said. "I had always imagined there must be a way for someone without a Celestial realm cultivation to be able to do it. You are living proof that I am correct."

The War God beamed with the widest smile Alex had ever seen. It looked as though the War God had been vindicated regarding something that had always been a sore topic for him.

"So, what are you the God of?" the War God asked. "Alchemy? Tell me it is Alchemy. I will pity Whitesong for failing to keep his title, but boy, will it be hilarious to see him realize he’s lost his status this drastically."

Alex tilted his head slightly. "Alchemy?"

The War God nodded. "Yes. Considering your talent in Alchemy, I assume you are an Alchemy Half God."

"No," Alex said quickly, clearing up the mistake the two of them were under. "I am not a Half God of Alchemy. I am the Sun God."

Something vanished from the War God’s face in that moment that Alex couldn’t exactly read. There had been a glint in his eyes the entire time they talked about him being a Half God. And yet, the moment Alex told him what he was a Half God of, the man’s expression completely changed.

"Sun?" the War God asked.

"Yes," Alex said.

"What does that mean? There is no Sun God in the council. How could you be a Half God of the Sun?"

"The Sun God is my title. I am the God of Fire and Yang," Alex answered.

"Fire and Yang?" His eyes slowly drooped toward the floor. "You too..."

His voice was barely even a whisper at that point, but Alex somehow managed to hear a bit of it. "Are you asking how I am quite literally the same as the Fire God? Well, that is apparently quite normal. People regularly end up becoming conflicting Gods. It takes some time for that sort of trouble to get righted."

The War God looked back up. "No, that is not what I was asking," he said. "Though you do bring up a good point. How are you the same God as the Fire God?"

"As I said, senior, it apparently happens from time to—"

"I know. I’m asking how it happened this time," the War God said. "So far as I understand, to become a Half God, you have to convince a significant group of people that you have authority over the elements, at least. That, and that you are a God. The demons have their one Goddess and won’t do much. The Beasts don’t believe in Gods in the first place. And here, the Fire God already exists. So how did you do it?"

Alex was no doubt a little surprised to see just how deep an understanding the War God had in regard to how Half Gods came to be. Most Gods weren’t this curious when he talked to them.

"I’m afraid I must choose not to answer your question," Alex said.

The War God narrowed his eyes, but then he glanced toward the Sky God briefly and grinned. "I see. That’s fine, then."

Alex held an apologetic look. "I can’t help you with that, but feel free to ask me about anything else."

"That’s fine," the War God said. "I called you here for something else entirely anyway."

Alex grew a little curious upon hearing that. "What is it that you need me for, senior?"
