Eternal Cultivation Of Alchemy
Chapter 3832: Inherited Hatred
Alex looked around at the gods.
"Are there any other questions besides that one you would like me to answer?" he asked.
The Saber God turned toward him. "Well, I am curious how you managed to dodge the Storm God for so long."
"I went to the Beast Realm. His reach doesn’t extend to that place, so I was able to remain hidden," Alex answered.
"Beast Realm, huh?" the Saber God mused.
"Well, I want to know how you escaped Hell in the first place. What did you do?" the Defense God asked.
"I will keep that information to myself, senior. It will be helpful in case I am sent there again," Alex said.
"Well, if you could tell us, maybe we could visit that place as well. Hell has a lot of intrigue for many of us. If we are able to travel there in any way—"
"Hell is off-limits to everyone," the Sky God spoke before the Defense God could finish his statement. "No one is allowed to visit there, nor are they allowed to send anyone else there. That has been the way since the escape of the Hell Emperor, and so shall it be forever. Do not try to question this."
"Of course," the Defense God quickly said, his form shrinking under the Sky God’s words.
"I have a question," the Technique God finally spoke. "It’s a simple one. Are you a danger?"
Her eyes bore directly into Alex, as if seeing every fiber of his being, ready to determine whether whatever he said next was a lie or the truth.
"A danger? In what way, senior?" Alex asked.
"You hold Godslayer within you, do you not? Not to mention, you have the enemy’s greatest technique. With both of those put together, it is hard to imagine you as anything but dangerous," she said.
Alex mused on those words for a bit. "Well, let me put aside Godslayer for now and speak only on the Undying God’s physique. The physique is only a tool, and any tool can be a danger depending on how it is used. So what you should be asking is if I will be using the Undying God’s Physique in a way that is a danger to everyone."
The Technique God raised an eyebrow. "Well, I would agree with that line of reasoning if that power wasn’t passed down from one person to another. I do not worry that you have the Undying Physique, just that the inheritance of the technique may have come with hatred attached to it."
Alex thought for a bit. "Well, if there was any hatred attached to the inheritance, then I can guarantee you that it would be dwarfed by the hatred I feel for all the gods and their people coming together to throw me into Hell on the day that should’ve been one of my greatest."
The room went quiet at Alex’s words. The gods, including the Sky God, looked uncomfortable at that moment. The only one who seemed remotely unperturbed was Killshot. As far as Alex knew, she had gone along with the decision to send him to Hell as well, but that hardly changed the way the woman acted.
"I must be missing a lot of context here," Sunflare spoke up during the silence. "What is this about him having the Undying Physique?"
The Sky God rolled her eyes, ignoring the man. "I think we are about done with this conversation. Is there anything else left to say?"
"Well, I’ll just answer the Technique God’s other question. Godslayer has no influence on me. If he did, I wouldn’t be able to stand in the midst of five different Gods and another former God. If he could act, he would’ve done so by now."
The Sky God raised her eyebrows slightly, most likely taken aback by the fact that Alex had decided to hide the fact that Godslayer was already dead. She chose not to contradict him at that moment.
"My apologies if I’m intervening, but this seems like the right moment," the woman in the olive-green robe said. "Given everything that has been said, especially the other gods’ concern over whether this young man is a threat or not, I believe I must ask the Sky God to allow me to do what I came here to do."
Alex looked toward Quietspring with no change in his emotions. "I was told that you wish to rectify the damage that Starsight has done to your organization’s reputation. Is that true?" he asked.
"There is nothing that proves Senior Starsight’s divination was a mistake in any way. And yet, there have been rumors going around that insinuate she lied about her divination. So, once and for all, I wish to confirm what the truth is. If the Sky God may allow it, I wish to divine the future of this young man and see whether or not he will lead us to our doom."
The Sky God didn’t immediately answer and instead turned toward Alex. "I will leave that choice to you. You have the freedom to refuse this."
Bladedance nodded. "There is no telling whether she will be speaking the truth anyway."
Quietspring’s eyes flashed with wounded pride, but she held back her tongue, given that the other person could slice it off before she had a chance to speak.
"No," Alex said. "I would like to see if senior can divine. In fact, I am more than curious to see if she even can."
A strange expression filled Quietspring’s face, a mix between indignation and surprise. She hadn’t expected Alex to accept her offer at all, much less turn it into a dare. But since he wanted this himself, she was more than happy to do so.
"Fine. Since you will allow me, I will start."
The woman had only closed her eyes when a voice stopped her.
"Please pause for a second."
She opened her eyes with a slight frown, turning in the direction of the voice. When she saw who it was that had stopped her, her eyes widened in pure surprise.
"Divination God?!"
