Chapter 3490: Not Enough

Chapter 3490: Not Enough

The people of Raingear City could only watch the sky in fear as sounds of clashes and battle shook the city. They watched the man with his blue lightning wings and the sea of crimson beasts that surrounded him.

Many Divinities had already taken to the task of protecting the masses, and some even called for the city defenses to activate. Slowly, a massive barrier emerged around the city, protecting them from the battle in the sky.

Strangely, quite a few people that had lived in the city from the start couldn’t help but be reminded of the battle that had taken place right there over 2 thousand years ago.

Blue wings and crimson beasts.

It was surprisingly similar to the Savior Prophecy.

Alex attacked the man multiple times within the next minute, while the man could do nothing to stop him. With the combination of his spatial skills and perfect concealment from the senses, the man had no way of countering any of his attacks.

If not for the armor, he would have been horribly injured multiple times already.

That fact only made the man madder.

Despite his madness, however, he was beginning to understand Alex’s techniques. Slowly, he started recognizing where Alex was or had teleported through the aura he produced when he did so.

If his only intention was to hide, then that would’ve been easy. But since he was also attacking to keep the man busy, there was just no other way.

As Alex attacked once again, sharp crystals formed around the man, flying in his direction. Alex teleported away from the crystals, dodging them, and struck the man once again.

The man barely managed to react in time to block the attack. Barely though it was, it showed that he was beginning to understand how Alex fought.

Alex moved away, twisting space around him to quickly get out of the way before the man attacked.

The man, still maddened by the constant onslaught, charged after him.

Alex’s eyes narrowed slightly at that. The man had ’seen’ where he was. He instantly teleported away to a different location, and the man spread out his Divine Sense in search of him.

’He’s getting better at finding me,’ Alex thought. ’He should have noticed that there is a region within his Divine Sense that is absent.’

Even if only intuitively, the man was beginning to find him.

They continued fighting for another minute, during which time the man fully adapted to Alex’s concealment.

“I can see you!” he shouted, whipping his weapon directly where Alex was standing.

Alex struck back with his sword, feeling a strong bolt of lightning course through his body as he did. He definitely couldn’t touch that whip so lightly.

Alex looked at the man and slowly came out of his concealment. He stopped hiding as there was no point to it. It was only eating away at his spiritual energy at this point.

It was a better idea to fight him directly.

“You’ve definitely trapped me now,” Alex said in a teasing tone as he stared at the man. “You must really want to kill me.”

“Oh, I want to do so much more than kill you now,” the man said, pure fury radiating off of him.

“Did the Sky God give you permission though?” Alex asked. “I doubt you’ve spoken to her.”

“You do not need to know what she has and hasn’t said. Your life will end far too soon for you to be worrying about that,” the soldier said.

“You wish to kill me?” Alex asked with a strange look on his face. “But if you kill me, how will you gain the treasures in my Soul Space?”

The man’s expression changed a little, as though that was a matter of true consideration for him.

Alex could see the wheels turning behind the man’s eyes.

Any Divinity would not trouble themselves with the treasures of an Immortal. But this man considered it very carefully, which only led to Alex believing what Hao Ya had said even more.

The man knew about him.

Perhaps not of his technique or his fighting style, but definitely about the things that had happened in his life. At the very least, he knew for certain that he had a massive Soul Space, and more worryingly, he most likely knew about the World Tree and the Nine Yang Divine Tree.

And he couldn’t know who the man had told it to. There could be multiple other Divinities in this very world that were aware of the truth.

He couldn’t see why the Sky God would be involved in this situation. He was going to her, so anything he did have, she would gain it anyway.

So, he could only believe the man to be working separately from the Sky God.

’What exactly is his goal?’ Alex wondered.

“You’re strong, far beyond what I could have imagined,” the man said. “I cannot imagine what forbidden skill you must be using to eat away at your own lifespan to bring out this much strength, but you cannot live for long this way.”

Alex chuckled slightly. “Is that so? I had a similar conclusion about you too, except the other way around.”

The man’s eyes narrowed. “What?”

“You’re weak,” Alex said. “At least, weaker than I thought you would be.”

The man growled a little. “You have not seen me truly fight.”

“No, but I can tell that you have a weak Battle Power. Is it 1 or 2? I was worried it was higher, but I suppose I should thank my luck.”

The man scoffed. “Why should I tell you what it is?”

Alex shrugged. “True, you have no reason to tell me what it is. But I can tell you what it isn’t. Enough.”

Badum-dum! Badum! Badum-badum! Badum-dum!

Alex’s heartbeat broke into a rhythm.

He pointed his sword at the man, his skin changing color, first to pink, then to red. “I realize now that I have a chance at beating you.”

Alex became a Blood Devil.
