Chapter 3379 Pearl's Choice
Chapter 3379 Pearl’s Choice
The Azure Dragons were at a loss for words. The two Celestials stared at the patriarch as if this was all his fault.
The patriarch let out a dry cough before addressing Pearl. “That was in the past. And as you can surely understand, we cannot just take someone who doesn’t have the bloodline.”
“No, I understand that, Patriarch,” Pearl said. “And if it was just that, I wouldn’t have held a grudge against you or this family. But you sent other family members to go after me while I was in the Fighting Continent, and I just can’t let it pass.”
Pearl paused for a moment and continued before anyone else could. “To be honest, I still don’t hold a grudge against the family. That simply isn’t what I could call what I feel. What I feel is a lack of any emotions. I don’t hate the Azure Dragons, but I don’t love them either. They could soar higher than ever or burn to the ground, and I wouldn’t feel a thing.”
“The only reason I accepted this bloodline in the first place is because this is what connects me to my father, and not to this family!”
The dragons were left unable to say anything in response. They couldn’t see what they could say that would help them in the end. It was clear that Pearl had made up his mind, and anything else would only make things worse.
“I see,” the patriarch said finally. “Then I will not force this matter. I respect your choice.”
Pearl bowed deeply and moved back.
Alex watched the Celestials for any emotions they would show, but thankfully it looked like they wouldn’t act up. It was good that they treated him as a God. He could only imagine how they would have treated this situation if that were not the case.
The dragons turned their attention back to Alex and continued their
conversation from earlier. They asked him a few questions, which he was happy to answer. After a while, the questions steered back toward Pearl again, but this time the Celestials were focused more on how Alex went about improving his bloodline.
Since the dragons already knew it had something to do with Alex gathering the blood of the many Azure Dragons, Alex felt it only right to tell them.
He explained what he did, without going into detail on the entire
matter.
“I have provided said knowledge and technique to three of the families by now. The Black Tortoises got it first, the White Tigers second, and the Vermilion Birds got theirs a week ago.”
It was a lie to say that he had given anything to the White Tigers. But technically speaking, Bai Jingshen was an integral member of the White Tiger family, so as a result, it wasn’t a lie to say that they had gotten it.
Alex hadn’t given the technique to the patriarch himself just yet.
“You have?” the Azure Dragon patriarch asked in surprise. “Then would it be rude if we asked for it as well?”
“Not rude at all,” Alex said. “As soon as you can decide what you’re willing to trade for it, I can give you the exact information and technique. I can even stay here for a while and prove that it works on a non-Azure Dragon.”
The Azure Dragons were excited to hear that.
“What sort of rewards are you looking for?” the dragon named Guanming asked. “The Azure Dragons host an innumerable amount of treasures, all of different value. Ask for whatever you want.”
Alex hesitated slightly. When given the chance to get anything, he could hardly come up with an answer right away.
The female dragon spoke up while he remained silent. “What did the
other families provide you with in exchange, if you don’t mind me asking?”
“That’s fine,” Alex said. “The Tortoises gave me access to their Ancestral Bloodline pool and a chance to see how the beasts evolved. That gave me the knowledge to make this technique, as well as what it was that I needed to do to help Pearl evolve.”
“The White Tigers have aided me nearly my whole life, so I cannot ask them for anything. And the Vermilion Birds gave me 8,000 Immortal beast cores. I will accept more beast cores if you have them.”
The patriarch hesitated a little. “Beast cores, huh? The Azure Dragons number much higher than the Vermilion Birds, so we have more people using up any beast cores we have. I don’t think we can give you that.”
Guanming followed immediately after. “But there is something we can give you. Would you accept dragon scales?”
“Dragon scales?” Alex asked, unable to hide his surprise.
The Azure Dragons’ scales were incredible materials when it came to making artifacts. Not only were they durable materials, comparable to Immortal-grade or even Divine-grade metals, but they also carried a property that made them easy to use for artifacts that manipulated
space.
Most of the ships of the Azure Dragons were fitted with artifacts that helped them teleport farther away or shrink space to make the
journey shorter.
Alex had been hoping to get some time to make use of the Artifact God’s memories that had been in his mind for a little over two
decades now.
As such, when given the chance to obtain such a rare material, he simply couldn’t say no.
“I will accept the dragon scales,” Alex said. “In fact, I ask that you give me nothing else.”
The dragons looked at each other and gave curt nods. “Then it shall be done. It will take a few hours to gather up what you want, but I assume it will take you longer to work on the blood.”
“I can do it in just a day. I will simply require someone to gather as
much Azure Dragon blood as they can. And if possible, get a small sample from the Ancestral Bloodline pool, as it will make things easier.”
The patriarch nodded. “That shall be done.”
