A Saint Spirit Vein could die for many reasons.
The sudden increase in the ambient concentration of aura in the Demon Realm could’ve been the reason. The slow and methodical absorption of its Qi by the two trees without returning anything could’ve been the reason. Or the constant spatial merging could’ve been the reason.
Whatever the reason was, the Spirit Vein had died, which meant it was no longer going to create any more Saint Qi for anyone to use. It wasn’t such a big loss overall in terms of what everyone was going to absorb. No one was in the Saint Realm in the first place, so the spirit veins weren’t even being used for cultivation at all.
What it was being used for were the Timeless Palace and the cultivation chambers. Without the spirit vein, everyone was now going to be forced to cultivate without the chambers.
Alex didn’t know how to feel about it. It had never been possible for him to make use of those chambers, but at least it allowed the others to keep up with him. And now, even that wasn’t going to be possible.
“Brother, it’s completely dead,” Whisker said. “It’s going to start turning into a spirit stone mine very soon.”
“That’s fine,” Alex said with a sigh. “You can come back out.”
Whisker did as asked, and Alex explained the situation to everyone. Scarlet narrowed her eyes. “Can’t you do anything?” she asked.
“I wasn’t the one who made it. Find another spirit vein somewhere here and make use of it. Maybe one of the patriarchs can give it to you too.”
Alex narrowed his eyes but quickly shook his head. “No, it wouldn’t be right. Besides, I don’t think I would want to use spirit veins in the first place if I were to redo it.”
Scarlet gave a curious look. “What would you use then?” she asked.
“Ray!” Alex called out. The fiery bird appeared right next to him in an instant, forming from nothing.
“You called me, master.”
“How do you activate all the various formations that you had set up in the various islands?” he asked.
“The Celestial Qi I am able to use, that stems from my brethren, allows me to use it however I wish.”
Alex nodded. “Could you use it to run anything?” he asked.
“Yes,” the crow said. “The Qi can be used to run anything you wish for me to run. The only stipulation is that I must be there to keep it
active, as that energy only listens to me.”
Alex turned toward the group. “That works, doesn’t it?”
“Is Ray coming with us?” Scarlet asked in surprise.
“Of course. What? Did you think I was going to leave him here?” Alex asked.
Scarlet gave a hesitant nod. “I was at least wondering how you were going to do it if you were planning on doing it. Isn’t he too strong for you? Keeping him contained in your Soul Space will be difficult, wouldn’t it? Everyone else has to hold back after all. Even Shumi needs to be careful, or else she could help you.”
“Well, that’s true, but Ray is bonded to me, and I get no burden from anyone that is bonded to me,” Alex said.
Scarlet raised her eyebrows. “Oh! I didn’t realize it worked that way. I thought his bond didn’t affect your soul.”
“No, but we’re still bonded, and any burden I could ever face with him being inside my Soul Space is something I’m already facing. Which is nothing.”
Once Alex answered, Scarlet felt better.
“Then Ray can just run the time chambers, can’t he?” Shumi asked.
“Not really,” Alex said. “You must know how scripts work. Runes need to be connected and resonated before you can make them work. The previous rune was etched onto the spirit vein, and now that is dead, so we can’t make use of it.”
“Ah! Right,” Shumi said. “So you have to make an entirely new set of runes and reset it all.”
Alex nodded. “Well, let me get back to my work. I’ll let you know when I’m done.”
Everyone let Alex be and went away, letting him work in peace. Alex remained where he was, focused on merging the various islands. The rest of the work went smoothly, the many islands merging into one with relative ease.
With the Demon Realm at the center, the other islands were added around it, forming a massive circle. Once it was all merged together, the overall land expanded by half a dozen kilometers on each side, adding a massive amount of land to the existing realm.
And after all this, there was still one more island left to take care of.
So, with one final thing left to do, Alex began creating the spatial pocket to take in the main island.
The main island was many times larger than the regular islands, perhaps even as large as the Demon Realm itself, so it would take the
most work for Alex.
But he didn’t shy away from it. He created the spatial pocket and began filling it up. It would take a few days before it was spacious enough. Once it was, he would take away the island, and then it would be time to leave this realm.
