Chapter 3108 Lucked Out
Chapter 3108 Lucked Out
The newly arrived woman had blue hair and blue eyes, with a slender figure. For a moment, Pearl did wonder if this was the same beast he had fought all those months ago but quickly rejected that idea. This was someone else entirely.
The new beast had a beauty to her that would make any human fawn over her in a heartbeat. Even compared to most human beauties, she far exceeded them. To a beast, however, her beauty mattered not in her human form. It went doubly for Pearl, who had seen actual beauties in human form.
Scarlet was more beautiful than this woman could ever hope to be.
The woman narrowed her eyes at Pearl for a moment and brought out a blue shield from her Soul Space.
Pearl couldn’t help but show a look of surprise. It wasn’t every day that a beast used an artifact during their battle. It was difficult to come by one that even owned something battle-oriented. Most beasts prided their bloodlines over artifacts far too much to make use of them.
Considering her cultivation base of Immortal Transcendent 4th realm, she was definitely going to need an artifact to contend with Pearl, whose Battle Power of 6 placed him firmly in Immortal Transcendent 7th realm in pure strength alone.
If he exploited his various Daos and techniques, he could easily contend with Immortal Spirit realm cultivators as well, although defeating them usually meant catching them off guard.
There was also something strange about the shield that caught his eye. For the moment, he couldn’t tell what it was that he was missing. Not that he had the time to consider it, as the battle started immediately.
Green energy enveloped the woman’s feet, and she dashed forward at
once. Her speed far exceeded Pearl’s reflexes, surprising him as he barely managed to step back to dodge her attack.
The place where he stood before erupted with an explosive wind that tore through the ground, leaving a gouge on the hill.
Pearl stepped right back, stabbing toward her. The woman lifted her shield, and the spear struck it dead in the center. To Pearl’s horror, the shield absorbed almost all of the spear’s energy, nullifying his attack fully.
Pearl dashed backward before the woman could retaliate, creating some distance. He couldn’t believe what had just happened. ‘What is that shield?’ he wondered.
The woman reached out with her hand, and a strong gust of wind followed her command, bringing tiny wind slices toward Pearl.
Pearl spun the spear before him, using one of Grimsight’s spear techniques.
Five Heavenly Forms of Spear: Second Form – Heaven Guarding Spear
The spear spun before him, forming a guarding barrier that protected him against every single wind slice that came toward him. The moment the wind disappeared, Pearl grabbed his spear and was ready to charge the woman when he realized she was gone from his vision.
A split second later, he sensed her standing behind him, her hand already stretched out, glowing with power.
‘Shit!’
Pearl spun his spear around, ready to attack, but it was far too late. White light filled his vision, followed by a thunderous boom. A thick bolt of lightning struck his chest, exploding before him, tossing him far away.
Pearl slammed into the side of another hill, creating a decently large crater where he was stuck. His head swam with colors for a second, the whites in his vision still not fading away.
His mind raced to figure out what had just happened. Had he really just taken a lightning bolt to the chest? The numbness he felt slowly fading away told him he had.
He got out of the crater and then stared at the woman, who stared back at him with a flicker of a smile on her face.
‘Her Battle Power is higher than I thought,’ Pearl thought. ‘3, if not 4. She’s stronger than me by a bit on Qi alone!
Normally, that alone would not have mattered, but there were other things about the woman as well that he was only now realizing. Considering the shield she carried, he should have known what she was from the start.
“No wonder you caught me off guard,” he said finally. “You teleported behind me.”
The woman’s smile became genuine. “I sure did,” she said. “I can’t believe I lucked out.”
“Lucked out?” Pearl asked.
“Yes. I found you,” the woman said. “But… hmm, something is strange
about you. I was informed you would have more skills, but you’re barely using any. Come on now. Don’t be shy!”
The woman disappeared again, arriving right behind Pearl as her palms crackled with lightning once more.
Pearl charged his spear with his energy and turned around. Right as the woman struck out, he teleported, arriving behind her. He stabbed with all his might, only to have the woman turn around at the last moment, her shield arriving at where the spear was before she did.
‘No!’ Pearl thought, and he willed every bit of his Intent into something. He hadn’t stood around and done nothing for the hundreds of years he had been in hell.
It wasn’t just Alex that had trained in space. He had too.
The space distorted around the woman, the spear magically curving
around the shield to strike at her chest.
The woman watched with horrified eyes as the spear struck her, the revolving energy within it lacerating her chest while sending her
flying backward.
The woman smashed into the woods Pearl had come out of earlier, knocking down a few trees. The space returned to normal, and the
spear straightened.
Pearl fell to his knees while his hand clutched his burning head. He was still very much in the initial stages of learning about Spatial Distortions, so using it with pure Intent alone took quite a bit out of
him.
The pain lasted no more than a few seconds before he pulled himself
up and got ready to fight.
Only, the woman never walked out of the woods. She was gone.
Vanished.
‘She was informed about me,’ Pearl thought. ‘But why? What do the Azure Dragons care anything about me at all?”
