Chapter 3099 Truefangs

Chapter 3099 Truefangs

The wolf grunted under its breath but spoke the words in the end. “Yes, I give up.”

Pearl only then released his spear but kept it next to him just in case the wolf tried to take advantage. The wolf slowly got back up, revealing a bruised chest that had taken his direct strike.

He frowned slightly as he felt the artifact on his chest still vibrating slightly. What was going on? The wolf had already given up. Had he not meant his words in some way?

“You’re one sadistic beast for making me say the words,” the wolf said finally.

“Sadistic?” Pearl asked in surprise. “I attacked you once.”

“Yeah, but you made me give up. You made me say the words even after you won.”

Pearl gave a confused stare. “I won before you gave up?”

“No shit. You bested me in the duel,” the beast said before narrowing his eyes. “You do know I don’t have to concede for you to be

considered a winner in our duel, right? You won it so very clearly after all.”

“Is that so?” Pearl said, feeling his artifact. “This thing is still active, so I thought I was still fighting.”

The wolf transformed back to human and looked at his chest. His eyes narrowed slightly, getting a clearer look at the artifact. “That’s no cheap recording artifact. Your family must’ve paid a fortune to get a hold of that.”

Pearl didn’t give any response to that question. “Do you know why it keeps vibrating?”

“It’s recording our interaction,” the wolf said. “It should have started recording the moment I arrived at your periphery. That’s how your

record is checked later on. It should become inactive in a while after a bit of lull. Really only records intense situations when it detects external auras.”

Pearl looked at the wolf’s chest, noticing a silver artifact in a simple circular shape with a tinier blue crystal. “Yours is doing the same?” he asked.

“Yes. Mine’s already shut down too,” the wolf explained. “It can only record so much.”

As he answered Pearl’s question, the wolf’s eyes narrowed. “This must be your first time coming to the Fighting Island.”

“First time, first fight,” Pearl said.

The wolf cursed under his breath, annoyed that a first-timer had defeated him. But he couldn’t blame himself in this situation. The one before him was clearly stronger.

“No wonder you let me live,” the wolf said. “In most duels, the losing party either runs away or dies. There’s hardly anything in between.”

“Everyone is just trying their best to get stronger,” Pearl said. “I have no intention to kill anyone unless I have to.”

The bond came alive once again, this time giving Pearl a vague direction of where Alex was. All he knew was that it was toward his brother, but other than that, he couldn’t tell.

It shut down a moment later again, completely hiding itself.

‘Is this brother’s doing?” Pearl wondered.

“You’re strange,” the wolf said after a bit. “You’re clearly from a big family, but those are the ones that have something to prove. They kill their opponents to show how good they are in their records. And yet, you let me go when you could’ve killed me.”

Pearl smiled. “Again, I have no intention. I’m just trying to do the bare minimum to pass the trial given to me by my family and maybe make something good out of it.”

The artifact shut down around that time, the vibrations vanishing. It had stopped recording and would likely come alive when another battle started.

The wolf raised his eyebrows. “Truly strange,” he said. “The name’s Truefangs, by the way, from the Obsidian Wolf family.”

“Whitepearl,” Pearl said. “I won’t be saying what family I’m from.”

“That’s fair. I only said it because you already saw what I was,” the wolf

said.

“It’s a notable family?” Pearl asked.

The wolf froze for a long moment. “The Obsidian Wolf family? Haven’t you heard about us? We’re one of the biggest families in the north.” “In the north? Near where the Black Tortoise live?” Pearl asked.

“Not that far north, and of course we’re not that big,” the wolf said. “Come on! You’ve got to be joking me. You don’t know my family?”

Pearl shrugged. “Sorry, but I only arrived in this realm a year ago. And I haven’t had the chance to learn much about it.”

The wolf remained dumbfounded for a long time. “Where did you come from?” he asked. “The Twin Scar realm? Or the Sun’s Talon

realm?”

A thought crossed his mind. “Please don’t tell me it was one of the lower realms,” he said, but that idea was crossed off as soon as he said it. The possibility that a beast could come from the lower realm and reach the Immortal Transcendent realm in less than a year was absolutely absurd.

“I’ve been from place to place with my brother, but those were all human realms,” Pearl said.

“You… came from a human realm?” he asked, narrowing his eyes. “You’re not a human, are you?”

That thought left almost as quickly too. “No, you’re definitely a beast. But a human realm… no wonder you’re using a weapon.”

Pearl narrowed his eyes. His father apparently used a spear too, so weapons couldn’t be that surprising, right? Or maybe they were.

“No, not a human,” Pearl said. He found the conversation dragging, especially when there was nothing he wanted to reveal to the wolf. “I should go find these artifacts that are scattered throughout this continent. Do you have any idea where I can start?”

The wolf paused for a bit and pointed toward the grassland in the east. “Go straight. After two days’ walk, you’ll arrive where the artifact

is,” the beast said.

“How long if I fly?” Pearl asked.

“A few hours. But do you want to fly?”

Pearl gave it a thought and quickly shook his head. He didn’t want to be targeted by every single beast that could see him in the sky. “Thanks for the information,” Pearl said. “I’ll be heading there now. If we’re lucky, we’ll meet again.”
