Chapter 3079 Slayers
Chapter 3079 Slayers
Steelmind didn’t understand much of what was going on, but he understood enough to know that he had fallen into some sort of trap. The Sword God knew exactly the type of sword that was going to be made, and he had not a worry in the world that it might end up doing something horribly bad.
“Slayers…” Steelmind said with a grunt. “What is that?”
“Just something we call our group,” the Sword God said. “A group that cares not for the war or its participants and is only on the lookout for themselves. We crave nothing but power, and we’re willing to slay anyone who keeps it from us.”
He pointed at Steelmind with his sword. “Anyone.”
“Dear lord!” the burly man next to him let out an exasperated sound. “Can you not go around telling everyone who we are? What’s the bloody point of a secret organization if you’re not gonna bother keeping it a secret?”
“What?” the Sword God turned around. “Like I said, he’s gonna die.” “And who’s going to kill him?” the man asked.
“I am,” the Sword God said. “You can kill him too if you’re so worried.” “And what? Get caught?” the burly man said. “A God’s death isn’t so easily overlooked. They will try and find out what’s going on, and when they eventually come around to using their seers to figure out we had a hand in it, how do you expect to lie your way out of the questioning?”
The Sword God paused for a moment, having genuinely not
considered the issue. He looked toward Steelmind for a moment, then back toward the burly man. “Can’t we just tell them he was corrupted, so we had to kill him?” he asked.
“No, that will still lead back to us through the sword,” the shorter
Method God said. “We can’t have a hand in this.”
“That leaves us with a single path forward,” the burly man said. “Artifact God, why don’t you do us a favor and kill yourself?”
Steelmind’s mind raced as he processed what he had been told. The Slayers were no allies of humanity. They would sell a human to slavery in a moment if it meant they would get what they wanted.
They were precisely the type of people he feared would misuse the sword. He couldn’t let them get it.
Gritting his teeth, he spoke through the sword’s deafening suggestions. “Get… out of… my way.”
“Can’t do that,” the burly man said, a saber appearing in his hand. Then, the saber flashed, turning into two, which then turned into two more. Two other arms appeared from within his arms, grabbing onto the two sabers.
Steelmind’s face grew solemn. He had heard about the four-armed man with a saber in each hand. This was the Saber God with his replicated Saber Creation. It turned out that there were three gods before him, along with at least two sages that he knew of.
But with over fifty people in the group surrounding him, there were most likely many more people equally strong as well. He just couldn’t tell their strength at the moment, as his Divine Sense was being taken away by the sword, using it as power.
The Death Sage was obviously working with them too. With all of them.
Was the Death God a Slayer too? Did she only want what was best for her, ignoring everyone else?
Something about that thought didn’t seem right. Even if the Death God was bad, the Alchemy God truly cared. He helped people everywhere. Surely he would’ve known that much about her.
And if she was part of this, where was she?
“You…” he turned toward the Death Sage. “You told me it was the Death God’s idea to make the sword. Was that true?”
The Death Sage said something that made Steelmind angrier.
“If simple words were enough to do the trick, I can’t imagine why we spent so much on that teleporting artifact,” the Sword God said. “Maybe we should have come from the start if we knew you were this gullible.”
Steelmind turned toward the Sword God.
“Well, I suppose we couldn’t take the risk,” the Sword God said. “The last time my predecessor attempted to make this sword, the bastard killed him and many other gods. I couldn’t take that risk. I couldn’t risk more gods being slayed.”
Something snapped inside Steelmind at that moment.
“You were smart enough to understand the danger but not smart enough to stay away,” Steelmind said. “You want the sword? Here! Let me give you an introduction.”
All the power boiling within the sword was unleashed at once as Steelmind made a massive slash that nearly made a full circle.
The God Rending Death Strike hit nearly half of the people there, of which fifteen died from the single strike. The rest that had survived had varying degrees of wounds ranging from minor to near-fatal. The Sword God was hit as well, but he was one of the stronger ones. His sword had blocked the strike. The aura of corruption around him was low, as the attack barely did anything.
He felt the strength of the strike and was surprised by how powerful it was despite coming from someone clearly weaker than him. It only increased his need for the sword.
The Saber God protected himself with his four sabers forming an eight-pointed star.
Next to him, a sword hung before the Method God, creating an aura
that protected him from the corruption aspect of the attack. The power itself was defended through a necklace he wore.
The Sword God raised his arms wide. “Haha! Come on!” he shouted.
“Just give me that sword al-“
Before he could finish, something came for him from the side. The Sword God realized at the last moment and turned around as he
swung his sword, his blade clashing against a purple sword.
“Purplerain!” the Sword God shouted. “Are you trying to backstab me,
you bastard? Have you gone mad?”
As soon as he said it, he looked at Purplerain and saw the black veins
covering his face.
“Oh… You have gone mad.”
