Chapter 3078 New Arrivals
Chapter 3078 New Arrivals
Steelmind had just arrived in space when he heard someone speak to him. He turned around to find the Death Sage hurrying on his tail, his words reaching his mind.
Steelmind paused for a second, surprised that the sage had managed to keep up with him at all. However, when he noticed the blackened veins on the other person, he knew that the sage had been affected by the corruption as well.
It was waning away from the sage, unlike him, since the sage hadn’t been holding onto the sword like he did, constantly corrupted.
The sage said something to him, prompting Steelmind to explain what he was doing.
“The sword is strong but malevolent. It is dangerous to just keep around, let alone have someone use it. We must destroy it,” he said. “I must destroy it. I’m taking it to the sun with me.”
The sage said something before rushing toward Steelmind. Steelmind wondered if the sage was still corrupted and fought back. The crystal hammer appeared in his hand, delivering a swing at the sage.
The sage stopped at the last moment, barely dodging the attack that
came.
The sage wasted no time, bringing something out before Steelmind and then crushing it.
Steelmind could barely understand what the sage had done when he felt the space around him tear apart a second later as figures began to pour out from within it.
Even with the sword trying to corrupt him, Steelmind managed to grow wary of his situation as people slowly gathered around him in the sky, far away from the Golden Dao realm.
Steelmind frowned, looking through the group. He noticed a short
man with reddish-brown hair, just short of a chubby look. “Method God?” he asked. This was the only person he recognized from the group. “Why are you here? Who…”
The Method God was part of the group, but he was far from the leader from what Steelmind could tell. The leader was a man who had a handsome look to his face, carrying with him a long sword.
Next to him, another man appeared-not quite the leader, but seeming in contention to become one. He had long gray hair, with a rugged beard and a slightly muscular body. He stood cross-armed, waiting for something.
Steelmind narrowed his eyes, looking at the group. Even the way they stood around him alone told him that they were not up to any good at all. As he was about to speak, his eyes landed on someone in the back, standing with a group of men.
This man was someone he recognized. He hadn’t associated with him at all, but he had been a sage under the previous Sword God.
With short black hair and freckles all over his face, Purplerain had an expectant look on his face, as though he had come here with prior knowledge that something was happening.
“Why are we out here in space?” the leader asked with a casual glance before turning toward Steelmind in surprise. He saw the sword in his hand and his smile grew wider. “Brother ■■■■■■, is that the sword?”
The Death Sage answered something.
“Really? We didn’t have to force him to make it? Then why did you bring us here?” the leader asked. “Traveling between worlds is not so cheap.”
The Death Sage said something else to the leader. All the while, Steelmind tried to wrap his head around what was going on.
The leader turned toward him after a few seconds. “My apologies. We haven’t met before, have we? I am the Sword God, and as such, I
would like you to hand over the sword.”
“Sword God?” Steelmind asked with no little hint of surprise. He knew there was a new Sword God and even knew his name, but he hadn’t met the man before. This had to be the Sword Sage under the previous Sword God, who had helped rediscover the power that the Fiend had used to kill the previous Undying God.
“This sword doesn’t work,” Steelmind said. “It’s mutated into something bad. No one should use it.”
“A sword that can cause a casual swing to harm someone on the verge of becoming a Celestial? I doubt it’s useless,” the Sword God said. “Hand it over and you can be free of its burden.”
“No, it corrupts its users. You can’t use this sword,” Steelmind said. “It uses the Darkness powers to corrupt, I know. What else did you think we were trying to get you to make?” the Sword God asked. Steelmind froze. “You… you knew this would happen?” he asked, his eyes flickering toward the Death Sage before falling back on the Sword God
“Yes,” the Sword God said. “But… not to this extent.”
He looked at Steelmind’s hands and face, seeing the black veins that had corrupted all throughout him. “This is far more potent than what we were expecting it to be.”
“The sword is stronger than you think, Sword God. We must destroy it,” Steelmind said, trying to reason with the man. “This is no longer as simple as whether this sword can defeat the Undying God or not. It will destroy anyone who comes across it.”
However, Steelmind’s warnings only ended up on deaf ears.
“It can destroy anyone?” the Sword God asked, smiling widely. “That’s exactly what I want.”
Steelmind’s eyes widened. He knew none of these people had come with the right intention, but even then, he had at least expected to be
able to reason with them.
But that seemed impossible.
“Sword God, do you not care if the innocents will get hurt because of this sword?” he asked. “Humans, demons, or beasts-this sword will show no distinction. It will kill everything in its path.”
“Great!” the Sword God said. “Nothing less could be worthy of us, the
Slayers.”
“Slayers?” Steelmind asked. “What’s that?”
The rest of the people around the Sword God gave a weird look.
“What?” the Sword God asked. “It’s not like he’s going to just hand over the sword. Since we will be killing him, there’s no issue with him learning who we are.”
