Chapter 2961: The Mural
Chapter 2961: The Mural
Alex walked toward the curved wall, his eyes pulled to it. A mural was drawn on that wall, with a level of quality and grace that Alex had never seen before in his life.
The mural itself, however, he had seen before.
It was exactly the same one painted in the throne room of the White Tiger’s palace in the lower realm. He had seen it more than a few times, but never had he truly cared about it enough to look at it with much care.
However, this mural, despite whatever significance it held, was a sight to behold through just its artistic quality. As someone who had painted before and did want to paint from time to time, Alex knew just the level of difficulty it would take to make something so… amazing.
The fact that the paint didn’t look as though it had aged a day spoke to the grade of materials likely used to make said paint.
Alex stepped toward the mural, his eyes firmly planted on the very first piece of the art. It showed a drawing of all 5 Heavenly Beasts, gathered at one place where they all stood before a giant, humanoid figure.
Alex remembered this starting piece to the mural in the lower realm. But compared to that one, this was truly quite magnificent in size and way more majestic than that one could ever have been.
The mural itself was dozens of times larger than the copied mural, making the beasts giant in size and the human before them even larger.
The features of the human were unrecognizable to a point where it was difficult to say whether they were man or woman. All Alex could see was that the person had a hand to their chest and another hand raised toward the 5 beasts.
Behind the human’s head was a golden halo glowing like the sun.
Alex stopped at the figure for a long time, staring at its shape. An almost identical figure seemed to replace it in his mind, by a man with dark hair and white robes.
Alex sucked in a deep breath.
Even though he had seen this very image so many times, never before had it struck him like it had now.
The painting was no doubt a recreation of none other than the event that brought forth the four great families of the Land of the Blessed Sun. The event known as the Blessing of the Heavenly Beasts.
Which meant, the humanoid figure in the mural was none other than the Sun God himself.
’The Sun God,’ Alex thought as a chill went down his spine.
He feared not the figure in the painting at this moment, but the one that seemed to replace its image. The man with the white robes and black hair.
Was that the Sun God?
’Is that really the Sun God?’ Alex thought as he gulped at the possibility. ’Or am I really just going mad?’
Alex couldn’t tell. In fact, he didn’t even know what he wanted to be true.
Did he want to start seeing visions of the Sun God? Or would he rather just be mad?
Alex could not decide.
“Keep moving,” Bai Fulin said, taking away Alex’s attention from the painting.
Alex stared at it for a moment longer before he looked away and began walking.
The next few paintings were the same as the lower realm as well.
There was a cluster of randomly shaped objects floating around in a group. Those objects then seemed to get closer to clump together into a ball of sorts. The next image was that of the same human, seemingly intervening, and then turning it all into one solid orb.
’Like a pill,’ Alex thought. He wondered if that was what it was. But the objects were too big and not a single one of them made any sense to him in terms of their shape.
The lack of color on the orb itself made it difficult to tell what it was supposed to be.
Something nudged him in the back of his mind at that moment that he couldn’t pinpoint. He couldn’t stop to look at it any further with Bai Fulin prodding him to move along.
He could only look at it later.
The thought that the figure could be the Sun God didn’t leave his mind at all, even more so that the person he had been randomly seeing was the same one as well.
Why was it happening? Why was he randomly seeing the Sun God? Was this a good thing? Or was this the precursor to the fulfillment of his prophecy as the destroyer?
’I don’t want to go mad,’ Alex thought. ’Don’t make me go mad.’
He didn’t even know who he could talk to at this point. Would Bai Jingshen know what to do? There was a chance that Bladedance might consider the prophecy to be real if he started talking about it.
He didn’t think she would, but he also didn’t want to take the chance. So, he decided to keep quiet for now.
They reached the northern gate next and walked through the hallway.
Seeing a human this deep in was a surprise for many, so quite a few beasts turned to stare at Alex. Most would perhaps show a look of disgust at this moment, but with Bai Fulin along with him, there was not a single beast that would dare even stop to curse him out.
They turned a corner and walked straight to a giant golden door before which stood guards lined up to the door on either side of the hallway.
Each one was a Divinity.
Bai Fulin stopped by the door. “Is the patriarch inside?” she asked.
“Yes, senior,” one of the guards said. “He has been waiting for all of you.”
The door opened and Bai Fulin turned toward the three. “Come on in.”
Alex watched as Bai Fulin and Bai Jingshen walked in, feeling a slight dread in his heart now that the moment had come.
“Let’s go, brother,” Pearl said.
Alex turned toward him, putting on a brave face and smiled. “Let’s go.”
