Chapter 2776 - 2776: Aboard the Ship
A large ship had been prepared for transport, something that Alex had never seen before. He never knew there were actual vehicles to travel around the desert since he had never seen any.
Upon asking, he was told that there were very few such vehicles, and only someone with great contributions to the sect could have one. These were great for traveling around in the desert with, but more so than anything else, these were equipped to carry around individuals not belonging to the sect when they needed to go to the sect.
Alex didn’t understand why these ships in particular had to be used, but it became clear when he entered the room prepared for him.
Six men sat surrounding him in a room that felt as if it was devoid of gravity. The gravity, of course, had not been affected, but his sense of it had been.
Within the room, Alex felt weightless, enough to the point that he couldn’t even tell whether the ship was in motion or not. His body’s momentum and inertia were completely foreign to him at that moment.
It took Alex a while to understand the point of the room. It was so that no one who was taken to and from the sect would ever learn the way to it.
He wondered what the reason was for this much secrecy.
There were no windows to look outside, so he had to remain in the room with the others, none of whom had said a single word just yet. Each one kept an eye on him, but other than that, they were spending their time in their own way.
“How long will it take us to get there?” Alex asked. “A day? Two?”
“Two weeks,” one of the men said.
Alex paused. “Two weeks?” he asked. “Where in the hell is the Endless Night sect that it takes that long?”
He waited for them to answer, only to get back glares.
“Right… you won’t tell me.”
Alex wondered if the sect was in the core region of Hell, which was why they weren’t answering the question.
‘No, we wouldn’t go straight to the core,’ Alex thought. ‘We have to be avoiding the core, which is why it’s taking us so long. We have to go along its perimeter, which is costing us so many days.’
There was also the fact that the ship was likely much slower as well. Alex couldn’t feel its speed at the moment, but he was certain that was it.
Since he was finally heading over to the Endless Night sect, he couldn’t help but wonder just what sort of sect it was going to be.
Was it going to be a large sect with massive palace-like buildings? Was it going to have alchemy gardens that stretched as far as the eyes could see? Would it have hundreds of thousands of disciples training in an array?
The Endless Night sect had garnered quite the reputation after all this time. And with their capability to create Immortals, Alex wanted to learn more.
He tried talking with the men before him, but they didn’t want to continue any conversation beyond just answering some questions here and there. Alex was alone for the most part.
With nothing to do, Alex simply closed his eyes and meditated, waiting for the days to pass.
A few days passed and the group in charge of Alex finally changed. The short man that was the captain moved into the room, sitting before Alex. Next to him, the others had changed as well.
“How much longer do you think we’ll take?” Alex asked the man.
“We have to take it slow. There are times when we have to stop and fight several beasts too, so there should still be at least a week remaining,” the man said.
Alex raised an eyebrow. “Does it take equally long every time? How did the news of what I had done reach you if it takes us two weeks to go there?”
“Individual warriors can return to the sect much faster, of course. They can fly through the sky fast enough that no beast can catch them. The ship, unfortunately, doesn’t have that capability.”
Alex nodded. “If you want to, I can fly along with you all. It should take us no time to reach if I did so,” he said.
The man smiled. “But then you would know where our sect is.”
Alex laughed slightly. “Why is that a secret again? I fail to see any reason as to why the location has to be hidden,” he said.
“Mostly to avoid trouble,” the man said. “Many want to join the sect, and would come hounding at the door for any chance. We also don’t want people who dislike the sect to come cause chaos. Several other reasons too, I suppose.”
Their talk continued for some time as they wanted to learn more about one another.
“Right, have you assigned anyone to search for the news regarding who massacred the Hell Warrior sect?” he asked.
“We… have not,” the man said.
Alex narrowed his eyes. “Why not? I’ve told you all that it was not me.”
The man nodded. “But we will still need to wait as we don’t know the whole truth,” he said. “We will find the answer soon anyway.”
“But won’t it be too late?” Alex asked. “It is already over two weeks late. If we go and deal with my stuff, that will take you another two weeks. That is a month of time wasted on me. I’m not saying ignore me, but have a small group working on that mystery at the same time.”
“We aren’t stupid,” a man to the side, with a narrow face, spoke. “We’ve thought about it all.”
Alex raised an eyebrow. “Oh, are you looking through it already? Why didn’t you say so?”
“We aren’t looking through it just yet,” the leader of their group said. “But we should still find the answer soon enough because we’re carrying with us the eyewitness who claimed to have seen you massacre the sect.”
