Chapter 691 - 338: Boosting Everyone’s Courage

Sun Yang clicked off the safety on his Pulse Gun.

"But I’m not planning on holding back this time. If they dare show their faces, I’ll give them a taste of what full firepower feels like!"

Shen Qiuyue shot him a cold glance.

"Don’t get careless. The enemies we just faced were just a probe. The next wave will probably be tougher."

"Sister Qiuyue, I was just trying to boost everyone’s morale!"

Sun Yang gave an awkward laugh, shouldered his Pulse Gun, and resumed his watch.

The convoy slowly drove into a canyon. Towering rock walls rose on all sides, narrowing their field of view.

Li Chang’an stood at the very front of the convoy, his eagle-like gaze scanning every detail of the surroundings.

"Captain, this place is a perfect spot for an ambush!"

Han Ruoxi said in a low voice, her body pressed against a rock, ready to act at a moment’s notice.

"The more dangerous the place, the calmer you need to be."

Li Chang’an tightened his grip on his Saw Chain Sword, prepared for any sudden developments.

Suddenly, a loud rumble echoed from both sides of the canyon as huge boulders tumbled down the cliff faces, trying to block the convoy’s path forward and its retreat.

"Ambush! All units, to your battle stations!"

Li Chang’an shouted.

On the cliff faces, soldiers of the Rebel Army appeared, wielding High-Energy Weapons and firing wildly at the convoy.

And at the end of the canyon, two massive Mechas were slowly advancing toward the convoy.

"They’re really going all out this time!"

Sun Yang stared at the two Mechas and couldn’t help but swallow hard.

"Captain, I can’t do jack against those things!"

"You provide cover. We’ll handle the Mechas!"

Li Chang’an commanded calmly.

"Ruo Xi, use an Electromagnetic Pulse to paralyze their mobility systems! Qiuyue, attack from the flank and find the Mechas’ weak points!"

"Understood!"

Han Ruoxi quickly moved behind cover. Powerful arcs of electricity shot from both her hands, targeting the control core of one of the Mechas.

Meanwhile, Shen Qiuyue scaled the canyon’s cliff face, trying to approach the Mecha’s vulnerable spots from above.

Her Dueling Sword glinted with a cold light, and her every step was decisive.

"Sun Yang, Bai Lin, cover the supply vehicles! Don’t let the Rebel Army get close!"

After giving the order, Li Chang’an charged the other Mecha himself, blocking an attack from its mechanical arm with his Saw Chain Sword.

"Captain, don’t try to take it on by yourself!"

Han Ruoxi shouted in a lull between her Arc Attacks.

"Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing."

Li Chang’an’s sword split open the Mecha’s outer shell as he swiftly dodged its counterattack.

The battle reached a stalemate. The Rebel Army’s assault grew more ferocious, and the Mechas’ defensive systems were exceptionally strong.

Just as the Insect Hunter Squad was starting to struggle, Bai Lin’s voice came over the comms.

"Captain, I’ve hacked into their Mecha systems! I can temporarily interfere with their control programs!"

"Good work!"

Li Chang’an yelled.

"Everyone, all-out attack! Finish them now while we have the chance!"

Han Ruoxi unleashed her most powerful arc of electricity yet, directly piercing the energy core of one Mecha.

The Mecha exploded and collapsed, kicking up a cloud of dust and smoke.

The other Mecha, slowed by Bai Lin’s interference, exposed an opening. Shen Qiuyue seized the opportunity and severed its Power System with a single strike of her sword.

"Taken care of."

Shen Qiuyue leaped down from the cliff face and said coolly.

Seeing this, the Rebel Army soldiers’ morale plummeted, and they began to scatter and flee.

The Insect Hunter Squad quickly cleared the battlefield and escorted the convoy onward.

"We finally made it through!"

Sun Yang collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily.

"That was even tougher than the last one. Captain, why are they so damn persistent?"

"Because the supplies we’re escorting are extremely important to them,"

Li Chang’an said calmly.

"But regardless, we completed our mission."

"Captain, what’s next?"

Han Ruoxi asked while wiping her Superpower Bracelet.

"We keep moving. The Northern Base is just ahead!"

Li Chang’an looked into the distance, his gaze resolute.

The convoy finally drove out of the canyon.

"I see it! The Northern Base is up ahead!"

Bai Lin confirmed their position on his terminal and looked up at Li Chang’an.

"Tell the convoy to pick up the pace. We need to reach the base as soon as possible. We’re not completely safe yet,"

Li Chang’an said, his eyes sweeping over his team members.

"Everyone, stay alert. Don’t let your guard down. The enemy might have one last trick up their sleeve."

"Captain, aren’t you being a little too cautious? Didn’t we already take care of the enemy?"

Sun Yang said, holding his Pulse Gun while sneaking a peek at the distant base.

"Besides, we’re almost at the base. Are they really going to chase us all the way here?"

"The closer you get to the finish line, the less you can afford to relax,"

Shen Qiuyue said faintly, checking the edge of her Dueling Sword with her hand as she spoke.

"Sister Qiuyue, hearing you say that makes me afraid to relax at all!"

Sun Yang grinned, trying his best to look less nervous.

"Relax a little, but don’t drop the ball,"

Han Ruoxi patted Sun Yang’s shoulder playfully.

"You actually did pretty well in that last fight. Don’t go back to being an idiot now."

"Sister Ruoxi, I was on my A-game the whole time!"

Sun Yang said with a smug look.

"The Captain didn’t even chew me out. What fault could you possibly find?"

"Alright, that’s enough nonsense. Everyone, focus up!"

Li Chang’an glanced at them, cutting their banter short.

"Once we reach the base, we still have to take inventory of the supplies and file a mission report."

"Captain, can you give us a little more time for the mission report? I feel like my arms are about to fall off!"

Sun Yang said with a pained expression, gesturing with his hands.

"I must have fired over a thousand rounds on this trip!"

"Then you can write the report while you’re restocking your own ammunition,"

Li Chang’an said coldly.

"Agh, is this any way for a person to live?"
