Chapter 672: The Ruler Of The Mistral Weave Forest [Part 2]
“What’s wrong?” Evarisse asked in a teasing tone. “Where did your confidence from earlier go?”
“If I fulfill your request, will you really give us your blessing?” Alex asked back.
“Of course,” Evarisse replied. “If you can complete my trial, I will give you and my daughter my blessing.”
Alex was wondering why Latifa and her Alters hadn’t said anything since Evarisse had declared the specifics of his trial.
But when he turned around, he realized that all of them had been frozen in a block of ice, unable to do or say anything!
Evarisse knew her daughter would stop Alex from taking the trial she had asked of him.
To prevent that, she made sure to seal her and her Alters first in blocks of ice before telling Alex how to prove himself worthy of her.
The test wasn’t meant to test Alex’s courage or show any of his good points. If anything, it was just a test meant to humiliate him.
Perhaps Evarisse didn’t like the fact that the boyfriend of her daughter had other lovers aside from her.
Or maybe she had other reasons for asking Alex to do such an unreasonable request.
Evarisse’s instructions were very simple. Strip naked and run around the academy. Alex would pass as long as at least a third of Frieden Academy’s student body saw him.
However, this was clearly social suicide. And not only that, but he would definitely be punished by the Headmaster of the academy for indecency.
Suspension was the least of his worries because this offense could have him expelled from the academy.
“What’s wrong?” Evarisse asked. “Did you suddenly get cold feet?”
“Dim Dim!” Dim Dim pointed at the Celestial Fox, as if telling her that she was being unreasonable.
Seeing the indignant little bun, Evarisse only giggled in response as if she was finding Dim Dim’s little tantrum quite cute.
Alex crossed his arms over his chest and lowered his head to look at the ground.
He was deep in thought, wondering how he could overcome this challenge. There was no way he could overpower Evarisse. She was simply too strong.
He also wouldn’t be able to take Latifa and her Alters with him to escape from such a powerful being.
It seemed that Evarisse really wanted to push Alex into a corner, leaving him without any lifelines to hold onto.
In the end, it only came to one thing.
“Dim Dim, let me borrow your Megaphone,” Alex said.
At those words, the indignant little bun that was huffing and puffing on Alex’s head almost fell off after hearing the young man’s request.
But after thinking things through, Dim Dim realized that what the young man was about to do was going to bring Evarisse down with him!
“Dim!” Dim Dim first took out its earmuffs from its dimensional storage and placed it snugly on its head.
A moment later, it took out the Megaphone and handed it over to Alex.
After doing these two tasks, the little bun pressed its little hands together, as if it was doing a silent prayer to any God who would be able to hear it.
All it asked was to survive whatever Alex was planning to do and not suffer from its aftermath.
Evarisse frowned, clueless as to what Alex was planning. She wasn’t familiar with the thing the young man had in his hand, which was now pointed in her direction.
Alex then activated the power of his Verdant Throne, boosting his abilities to the limit.
Even when he was in the Dungeon of Beasts, he didn’t use this trump card. But since he was fighting against someone way out of his league, any boost he could get would be helpful to his last resort.
As a Rank 8 Celestial Fox, Evarisse had many resistances.
She had incredibly high magic resistance and decent physical resistance.
With that, the only way for Alex to win was to use his Divine Skill, Voice of the End!
Alex cranked the Megaphone to its strongest volume before activating his trump card!
“London Bridge is falling down.
Falling down, falling down.
London Bridge is falling down…
My fair lady~”
A soul-shattering song rippled across the entire forest, catching any living creature inside of it by surprise.
The birds that were flying in the sky all lost consciousness and fell to the ground like bricks.
The predators that were mid-strike to catch their prey suddenly collapsed, allowing their targets to escape… at least for a few seconds before they, too, succumbed to Alex’s diabolical singing.
Alex’s voice, amplified to apocalyptic proportions, blasted through the forest like a divine punishment, specifically designed for anyone with ears!
Even the fairies of the academy, who were already used to Alex’s singing voice, shuddered as they glanced in the direction of the Mistral Weave Forest.
Alex’s song didn’t actually reach them, but the reverberations of its power was something very familiar to their senses.
“I-Is Alex singing somewhere?!” Doh asked in shock.
“D-Don’t tell me he’s committing mass murder?!” Reh cupped her face. “He should have waited until the inter-academy tournament! All the important people are there!”
Even Professor Arienna couldn’t help but look around her with shaking eyes, looking as if she had been spooked by a ghost.
Those who had experienced Alex’s singing seemed to instinctively know that the young man was singing somewhere out there and causing some kind of trouble!
“LONDON BRIDGE IS FALLING DOWN. MY FAIR LAAAAAAAAAAAAAADY~”
Alex was in his element, his body swaying, with one hand dramatically raised as if he were performing on the grandest stage of all.
Which, to be fair, he was.
Though, the stage just happened to be a forest. And his audience was dying.
Emotionally.
Spiritually.
Possibly physically.
“STOP THAT INFERNAL NOISE!” Evarisse shouted before she lost her balance and fell from the tree branch she was sitting on.
Since she was in close proximity to Alex’s singing, she received the full brunt of its effect.
She was a Rank 8 being, and yet, her superhuman senses backfired on her on this occasion!
Latifa and her Alters were sealed in a block of ice, so they were spared from the side effects of Alex’s song.
Dim Dim, on the other hand, seemed to have reached enlightenment. Its body shone faintly, floating a few inches above Alex’s head with its hands clasped in prayer.
The little bun had suddenly entered Sage Mode as a way to preserve itself from its partner’s Divine Skill.
