Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 930 930: Mastering New Weapons

Cedric had grown fond of swords over time…

At first, he only used swords because, well, he had to. Back when the life evolution method of his homeworld was still rather primitive and a little too fantastical, his class was the [Swordsman] class, which kind of locks him into using only sword types as weapons.

Obviously, this changed when he inherited the eyes of the godking, but for the most part, he stuck with swords and had grown to like them. Eventually, swords have become part of his identity. It’s his main choice for a weapon; it’s even the first concept law he took to the Origin Law level.

For most of his life, Cedric stuck with the sword. Having cultivated it to this level, anything that other weapons could do, he could do with a sword. He had mastered it to such a ridiculous degree that it wouldn’t be wrong to call him a Sword God by how.

But now that he had come this far and had reached the peak of what sword arts could reach, Cedric decided to have some fun trying out other weapons.

No, this doesn’t mean that he’s abandoning the sword. He couldn’t even if he wanted to. The Origin Sword Law Diagram swimming in his consciousness and inner world wouldn’t let that happen.

He’s just exploring other expressions of combat by slowly mastering the more famous types or weapons.

Recently, he’s using both the spear and the bow, and he’s having fun with them.

With his knowledge and expertise, he’s quickly mastering them too. Eventually, he’d take these weapons to their peak, just like what he did with his sword arts.

For now, though, he’s enjoying the fast growth and enriching his mastery over these weapons.

As he immersed himself in this, Cedric remained ignorant of Angelo’s attempts to catch him outside.

Even if he knew, he wouldn’t have come out. He’d just make an excuse that he’s immersed in his practice currently. He’d apologize and invite him later instead.

This wasn’t Cedric trying to be a snob to Angelo; he respected the dude, really, but that respect only goes so far. His task here was clear and straightforward: master all Origin Laws, comprehend the Primordial Chaos Law, reach the true peak of existence, and completely inherit this place.

There’s very little to gain in fraternizing right now. Cedric would even dare say that it’s a waste of his time. He’d have a much more pleasant time being left alone in his thoughts than conversing with Angelo.

Again, nothing against the guy; he’s nice and all, but Cedric was doing his best to maintain his streak, and he wanted to focus on that, alright? So no offense to him.

Boom!!!

While he was entertaining some random thoughts in his head, Cedric’s actions weren’t idle or random at all.

In front of him was a, frankly, unreasonably large bow. One that was almost twice as long as he was. It’s shaped like a cresent moon, very heavy too. But Cedric was controlling it with his mind as if it weighs like a leaf.

It doesn’t shoot ordinary arrows, not even physical ones, which gets rid of the need for him to pull some out of quiver or something.

So long as he focuses and draws the string back, the bow will siphon his origin energy, analyze his intent, and convert both of those aspects into an arrow that matches his needs. The arrow then, of course, shoots out when he releases his grip on the strings. That’s the kind of bow he’s using right now.

The shot he just released was so powerful that it could’ve sunk an entire island, and that’s not even him giving it his all. That was just a casual shot.

If he wanted to, he could attach even more force behind the arrows, charge them with elemental or conceptual ideas, have the arrows fly with causality itself, and shoot someone from a sector domain away and never suffer any degradation on his accuracy.

Such is the power of snipers when they practice their art to the extremes.

Mind you, it didn’t take Cedric long to reach this level. Just about 25 years or so. While this isn’t the true peak of archery, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that Cedric could be considered an archery god in the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm since there was no second to him in terms of current level of skill.

There’s absolutely nobody else, aside from him, that has taken this art to this height. If there’s a second place, then the distance between him and that person would be chaos, realms apart.

But don’t be fooled by this speed. The only reason why Cedric reached this level so fast was because he was already good in combat and he had an incredible foundation, background, and insight.

Once he mastered the sword laws to the origin law level, he had practically unlocked the true secret of combat. Hell, Cedric wasn’t new to aiming; he had been using flying swords since he arrived in the Primitive Universe, so shooting and aiming weren’t foreign concepts to him.

Aim, then shoot. That’s the whole idea behind archery, the very basis behind its creation and birth. Everything else was secondary. Others can change but these two concepts about archery cannot.

Cedric had been blowing up islands for quite some time now. Slowly but surely, his control and mastery over the art of archery itself grew to an unfathomable degree.

It was fun, but it doesn’t contain the same charm as using a sword.

Next, he switched to a spear.

The one he used looked like an ordinary overlord spear. It’s almost as long as he was, the material used was decent, durable, and flexible, but the spear itself looked nothing special.

Well, that’s because it isn’t at all. It’s just some virtually indestructable spear with no other special traits or characteristic. It’s good enough to use, but it’s value wasn’t much at all.

This was lent to him by the ghosts’ servants. It’s one of the many, many weapons and tools that had been tossed into the dungeons, left by some deceased warriors.

Cedric used this as a practice spear, and although he doesn’t love it, it’s decent enough for use.

The moment he held the spear, an explosive and domineering momentum exploded out of Cedric.

It’s as if he suddenly became a warlord marching to the frontlines. All he needed was his loyal steed and an army of soldiers behind him and it’ll complete the picture.

Anyways…

This happened due to his comprehensions about the spear arts.

The spear had always been one of the more complicated and difficult weapons to master. Getting used to it wasn’t hard; mastering it was.

Compared to the sword, the spear’s handle was longer, and its reach was certainly farther too. Depending on where he held it, the following move could either be weak but flexible or rigid but strong.

Mastering the spear meant learning how to adjust one’s grip on the spear to unleash the intended result. That was the first roadblock for those who are trying to master this weapon. Because, especially in the heat of a battle, even the faintest mistake or miscalculation could be deadly.

That said, as difficult as it was, nobody could deny that those who gained some level of mastery over the spear were considered to be strong people.

A spear master could fight multiple people at the same level of strength as they still gain the upper hand.

This is why many were committed to the art of the spear even though it’s difficult and a time sink.

But, once again, because Cedric had basically mastered the art of combat itself and had the background of raising a weapon law to the origin law level, adjusting to the spear was marginally easier for him.

Cedric stomped forward, and his momentum suddenly shrank into the spear’s tip. Then, he thrust forwards, and just like that, another island was gone, annihilated in a blink of an eye.

This wasn’t him using the concepts of annihilation and focusing it on the spear tip; no, this was from his sheer mastery over spear arts itself.

He aligned his spear with the grain of the world and used it to erase something in front of him.

Luckily, the spear was indestructible, or just had very high durability, because such an intense use of it could’ve seriously left it some damage. The fact that it didn’t snap into two or disintegrate was already a miracle, which shows that the materials used to craft this spear were truly decent.

Cedric could feel the spear vibrating in his hands, not from exertion, but due to excitement. His harmony with this spear almost made it possible for it to develop some form of sentience, and it’s cheering because the one that’s currently using it was using it incredibly well.

It couldn’t even remember its previous master ever making it feel that way. This was how you used a spear, its new holder was a true spear master!

Alas, this naive and newborn thing was very mistaken about that part.spear;
