Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 903: Thoughts

Chapter 903: Thoughts

The space inside the room he had chosen, and this probably applies to all other rooms available as well, was as big as a continent. It’s as if he had taken him to a completely different world.

Of course, Cedric could sense that this was just a pocket space, man-made and specifically designed this way.

Compared to the barren and dull land of the Origin Heaven Continent, though, this one was more lush and vibrant. The air was clean; the ground was covered with large swathes of verdant blankets of grass. The sky was clean and cloudy, and there was just enough sunlight to make everything bright and cheerful.

More importantly, the presence of concept laws here was at the same level as in the origin heaven continent. Which makes this room more preferable and/or livable compared to his humble shelter earlier.

Furthermore, this place was solid. It could endure abuse from his training and the aftermath of his power. The space here mends quickly, and it should be able to contain the fluctuations of a breakthrough.

The best part is that he had a direct connection to the trial and the core inheritance zone here. All he needed to do was to issue a verbal command, and he’d be granted access to those places whenever he wished.

Cedric liked this. It’s certainly much better compared to his previous living conditions here.

So, without any further ado, he claimed this room and began constructing a new house for himself.

He didn’t make anything fancy, just a brick house filled with everything that he’d need, which isn’t much since this clone body doesn’t really need a lot to begin with.

Once he made his house, the furniture was automatically added. This didn’t come from him; it was provided by the keepers of this castle—the ghosts.

They didn’t even appear before him, nor had he seen them come in. All of the necessary tools, furniture, and other stuff that this house might need just automatically appeared as soon as he was done making it.

It was very convenient, and he appreciated it. And if it turns out that he’s missing something, he could always call them in and request what he needed.

Once he was done with this, Clone Cedric relaxed for a bit.

He replayed his recent conversation with Angelo and remembered a couple of things.

He needed to be wary of his other competitors, for they would certainly do what they can to harass him and force him to make mistakes. Well, it’s not confirmed yet if that’s actually true, but it’s not out of the realm of reality.

Cedric completely understood the concept and the pressure they’re facing. Everybody was invited here because they had the talent and the potential to be something greater than they should be.

Knowing what this place does, it’s very hard not to be tempted.

Of course, it was difficult. Mastering the Origin Source Law was a lot harder than reaching the Primal Origin Lifeform Realm. But that’s the requirement to be the master of this place.

And becoming the master of this place was the whole damn point. And there could only be one.

Cedric knew that there’s a possibility that it could be him. Well, he wouldn’t have made it this far if he couldn’t, right? And he had a very good chance too given how fast he had been progressing.

From what Angelo said, he could also deduce some things. He knew that he was way younger compared to others, not just his competitors in this castle, everybody, and his youth was an edge in itself.

Angelo probably realized this too and made it a point to befriend him to create a way out for himself. Cedric wasn’t mad about it; if anything, he respected the effort.

Anyway, this was all too far from the current him.

He had just comprehended six of the very many Origin Laws out there. He’s simply too far from comprehending the very source of laws instead. Hell, he’s not even close to becoming a primal origin lifeform himself.

There’s no need to worry about it for now. Besides, even if it fails in the end, so what? Cedric was resourceful. He’d figure out a way to hide himself and his family from the ascendant who would inherit this place and become its new master.

This body was, after all, only a clone. Angelo might know that, but would the others?

More importantly, would Cedric wait until they do? Of course, not.

Cedric already devised a way to hide from the attention of two Primal Origin lifeforms without them knowing at his current level of strength. If he could do this, then it’s not beyond his abilities to do the same to whoever becomes the master of this place first.

**

Unbeknownst to him, though, Cedric was overestimating his competitors.

Take Angelo himself. The man only had 8 Origin Laws under his belt. He started with the same five basic elemental concept laws and raised them to the origin law level, which he then followed with lighting, space, and time.

He had a solid arsenal, but it took him a total of more than 500,000 years to get to where he is now. And if Cedric wasn’t added to the equation, he was considered to be the fastest in terms of progress.

But even after this, he was missing the same resonating connection that Cedric had in his five basic elemental laws, and from a single glance, it’s clear that the idea never crossed his mind, either.

He had grown used to the peaceful, silent, dull, and repetitive days of analyzing and comprehending concept laws here. He had long forgotten his desire to ever reconnect or return to the Five Known Chaos Realms; everybody and everything he knew and loved there had already moved on. There was nothing for him to return to. This was his reality now and his eternity.

As for the other competitors? Angelo would be the first one to say that they’re trash. Those people are way, way older than him. Sure, some of them have comprehended and raised more concept laws to the origin level than him, but their progress was so very slow!

The oldest one here, the most ancient and archaic species that he ever encountered, by the way, was 15 million years old. Yes, it’s that old. It’s an undying relic, a living being, yes, but one that has existed for far longer than it should.

That thing, Angelo really didn’t know what kind of creature it was, as others said, had comprehended 15 origin laws. One million years’ worth of progress.

Sure, 15 origin laws sound scary, but the rate of progress? Even a snail’s pace was faster than that!

As for the others, they’re only marginally better. And they couldn’t compared to Angelo; that’s why when they arrived here, they bullied him with words.

Angelo nearly made the mistake of attacking them, too. But he wizened up and stopped caring about them. That’s not to say that he doesn’t retaliate. He does, and whenever he does, he’s vicious.

He points out their slow progress. He tells them how he’s obviously much better than them, that his progress was way faster than they could ever have. He tells them that, one day, once he becomes the master of this realm, he will have so much fun ruining them.

That usually makes them back off, simply because truth fucking hurts. They can’t say anything to refute his claims because he was right. All of them were just hanging on by a thread, miserably, and hoping for a damned miracle to happen.

A miracle that will probably never happen at all.

Angelo originally had the highest hope of inheriting everything here. But then, Cedric came. And suddenly, he was pushed to the runner-up position.

He sensed his arrival, and with that single glance, he knew that he couldn’t compete.

This kid was not even 10,000 years old yet. But he’s already here. He breezed through the roadblocks and comprehended concept laws like they’re just some complicated math problems.

By the time he comprehended about five more law essence fragments, the kid had already gained the acknowledgement of 6 Origin Laws, only two less than him.

What manner of absurd monster is this kid? Isn’t just that fucking unfair? He blinked, and suddenly, the kid was already catching up to him! What the fuck!?

It’s a good thing that he left a good impression on him. Because if this kid didn’t become the master of this place soon, then there’s simply no one that could. The game’s rigged in the first place, and that’d just be unfair. Everything becomes pointless then!

And so, even though he was embarrassed and humiliated to ask him of this, he asked the kid to spare him, because Angelo knew that the kid would soon surpass him. Eventually, the same kid will surpass everybody else who arrived here first.

Later down the line, he’d claim this place as his. And once he sits on his rightful throne, his life and everybody else’s will be decided based on his whims.

The world’s just that unfair. Thankfully, Cedric was human just like him. At least Angelo doesn’t have to be afraid that Cedric will eradicate his kind once he reaches the peak.
