Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking

Chapter 889: Expectations and Thoughts

Chapter 889: Expectations and Thoughts

It went exactly as Cedric expected it to…

The banquet ended 24 hours after Nick’s display of his power. The guests left one by one with minds and hearts rattled at what they’d seen.

Cedric and Philip didn’t stay long either. After bidding their farewells to the Human Sovereigns, they left and parted ways. Philip was picked up by his cruise, and Cedric just teleported straight home with no detours.

It wasn’t until a week later that news of what happened in the banquet spread to the entirety of the Heavenly Star Chaos Realm like a virus.

Everybody was talking about it; there were heated discussions, debates, and arguments both in the streets and online. By now, it’s pretty much confirmed that the announcement was indeed true. Nick had become a Primal Origin Lifeform; that’s one thing nobody could deny at this point.

The discussions just branched out from there. It led to other topics and such, but it’s generally well received. After all, Nick was human and was known to be a pillar for humanity.

If there truly was a god amongst mankind, it’d only be him.

But while everybody was very concerned and curious about this development, Cedric remained relatively indifferent about it.

It’s not because he looked down on Nick’s progress and achievements. It’s because it had nothing to do with him for the most part. Whether Nick reached that mythical realm or not, Cedric remained as the Sector Lord of the Rising Sun Sector Domain.

His priority, first and foremost, was his home. Everybody else was secondary.

And sure, what Nicholas achieved was legendary and very impressive, but in Cedric’s eyes, that’s just a matter of time. He already knew that that man was destined for something great the moment he laid eyes on him.

Besides, it’s just the Primal Origin Lifeform; he would get there too, and in a fraction of the time Nick needed. It’s also just a matter of time for Cedric too.

Hell, he might even reach that stage before Urek, Berk, or Gibson. But he wasn’t holding his breath about that; anything could happen after all.

Besides, that’s not Cedric’s goal. Reaching the Primal Origin Lifeform Realm only counts as scenery along the way.

What he truly wanted was the ultimate peak. To become the true master of everything.

And he will do that by learning and mastering every single concept and law there is, attaining their peak—which was the Origin Laws.

He will become much higher than the Supreme Will; he will surpass the Origin Source Laws. He wants to be the true master of the entire Primitive Universe.

It’s a distant and dizzying goal, that’s for sure. But Cedric had never been one to settle for mediocrity when there’s clearly a much better outcome.

So, he wasn’t fazed by Nick’s achievement. If anything, he’d be disappointed if he took longer to reach that level.

As for what Nick planned on doing next? That’s up to him and his friends. So long as it doesn’t disturb the peace and security of his home and involve him, it has nothing to do with him.

Cedric will continue to do what he has always done. Keep his progress to himself, and extend the prosperity of his home for as long as he possibly can.

**

True to his world, life continued as usual for Cedric.

While the rest of the world still buzzed about Nick and his explosive achievement, Cedric once again retreated to his own seclusion chambers after spending some time with his wives and family.

He continued digesting insights about concept laws. He wasn’t being picky; anything that came to him on its own was accepted generously and added to the ever-growing pile of incomplete law essences of myriad concept laws.

Even when he was attending the banquet, the clone he had on the Origin Heaven Continent continued its immersion, feeding him law insights of all kinds.

In terms of volume and versatility in concept laws, Cedric was practically unmatched in the whole Five Known Chaos Realms. Of course, the people he’s with at the Origin Heaven Continent don’t count, but even then, he’d probably still rank in the top half when it comes to achievements.

He was done with Sword Laws and Fire Laws; both have reached the peak—which is the Origin Laws. The diagrams are embedded into his soul, consciousness, inner world, and even his body. If he deliberately unleashed himself, every move he made would contain the charm of Origin Laws; he’d be no different than a divine being amongst mankind.

But of course, he wouldn’t do that. He didn’t want attention on him just yet.

His next scheduled trial was a little bit less than 500 years later. Even at his current stage, this was still a long time for Cedric, enough for him to basically plan very far ahead.

Cedric’s next target was, of course, to comprehend all of the five basic elemental laws, taking each one to the Origin Law level.

He’s already done that with fire laws, so that’s one down. His next aim was the Metal Laws because they serve as a boost to his Sword Laws and also complement his Fire Laws.

With this in mind, Cedric already started laying down his foundations long ago. Since arriving on the Origin Heaven Continent, Cedric basically used all of his available time devouring concept law insights. And of course, the Metal Laws were included in that.

He had long since comprehended half of the required law essences needed for the complete Origin Metal Law Diagram. The rest remained invisible to him now because he still had to see the Origin Heaven Tablet for the Metal Laws.

That’s his target at the next trial, the one that’s still about 500 years away.

Actually, Cedric was unsure if he should wait that long. Because frankly, with his tactics, he’s practically in no danger of failing at all. Furthermore, he could basically ensure that he’d be walking out of that trial with a lot of comprehension time rewards each time.

More comprehension time rewards mean more chances to comprehend the full Origin Laws, and the more Origin Laws he comprehended, the more privileges he’d unlock in his stay here.

But he shouldn’t rush this. Every step he takes must be decisive and perfect; only then will he be able to reach his true goal.

He’s got a lot of time ahead of him, and he practically doesn’t even need to worry about bottlenecks since those don’t exist for him. So long as he’s not stagnant, he will always make some kind of progress.

And at his current level, even the smallest progress was considered a lot.

**

While Cedric minded his own business, Nick was thinking of something.

Alone in his chambers, he stared at the sky longingly.

It’s funny, because for a man of his strength level, any stars he saw from a distance were practically within his reach. All he needed to do was to reach out to them, and he’d catch them rather easily, effortlessly, even.

But no, their distance wasn’t why he stared longingly at them. He had other reasons.

For everything he did and achieved, the past remained a sore subject for him.

Even for a Primal Origin Lifeform like him, there was no way to rewrite the past.

He could freely erase and rewrite the identities of everybody who’s weaker than him. He could destroy everything in his reach, even conceptual laws should they irritate him.

Hell, even the Supreme Will would be rendered helpless against his wrath.

But what good was all of that when he feels utterly and completely alone?

Yes, he had managed to reach the peak of existence, but even so, he felt empty. Free, but empty.

His friends and the entire chaos realm celebrated his achievement. He had become a legend, a myth, everything that he once dreamed of becoming.

Yet even so, he still found himself willing to sacrifice all of this if it means bringing back his wife.

But he can’t…

Or can he?

Once he thought about this, the peace he felt was suddenly disturbed.

He has moved on, yes. He had accepted that his wife had forever left him behind. He had atoned for so long for his weakness and arrogance that had caused her death.

But his desire to see her one last time, to personally apologize, to hold her one last time, and to say his proper goodbyes…

A closure…that’s all he ever wanted. Even now, after all this.

But it’s slightly different now, isn’t it?

He had reached the peak of existence. He wasn’t just the strongest man alive. He’s practically omnipotent, even though his specialty had been, and will always be, destroying things.

Nick had all the power in the world to do whatever he pleased. That’s the whole idea, wasn’t it?

Freedom, the very idea he preached ever since stepping into this realm?

And if he’s truly free to do, say, whatever he pleases, then…wouldn’t resurrecting his wife count as one?

“Her body’s been preserved and perverted by that old hag—the Bug Empress.”

“Her soul is gone, but…Patricia! She’s an expert in souls!”

Once his thoughts reached this far, Nick could no longer sit still.
