Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World

Chapter 482: Akashic Record’s Warning

  • Next Chapter

Within seconds, several additional creatures emerged from the openings, their distorted bodies crawling through the broken space.

The situation was quickly turning into a disaster.

"What the hell are those things?" Caelus muttered.

Before he could investigate further, a red system panel suddenly appeared before him.

[Akashic Records: World Emergency.]

[A breach from an extremely dangerous realm has been detected.]

[Hostile entities are entering the Primordial World.]

Caelus was stunned.

An invasion? Here in the Primordial World?

He had only arrived in this world recently, and now something was powerful enough to tear through its spatial barriers?

Looking around, he realized that everyone else had received the same notification.

The entire plaza was in chaos.

People were screaming and shouting in every direction, while the creatures continued emerging from the portals.

One of them dropped onto a merchant’s cart, crushing it beneath its weight.

The merchant barely managed to escape before the creature turned toward him.

Another notification appeared.

[All who fight the invasion will receive rewards directly from the Akashic Records according to their contribution.]

[Contribution Rankings activated.]

[Your category: Early Primordial.]

A ranking panel immediately appeared beside the warning.

Names were already beginning to populate the leaderboard, indicating that battles had broken out elsewhere in the Primordial World.

"Hubby, I received the notification too."

Sylvia had already summoned her Blood Sword Cnstruct.

"So did I," Bertram added. "Although my contribution ranking belongs to a different category."

That made sense. The Akashic Records apparently separated participants according to their strength.

However, there was no time to investigate the rankings.

Another spatial tear had opened above a crowded landing area.

A large ship was attempting to take off, but several creatures were already falling toward it.

"I’ll handle that side!" Bertram announced. "You four stay together!"

His wings spread as he shot toward the landing area.

A brilliant green light erupted from his body, forming an enormous field that caught the falling ship before it could crash into the fleeing crowd.

Meanwhile, Himmel raised a thick stone wall near the plaza entrance, creating a barrier between the civilians and the approaching monsters.

Caelus turned his attention toward three creatures advancing on their group.

They were similar to the first monster, with twisted limbs and eyes growing in places where they clearly didn’t belong.

As soon as they noticed him, all three opened their mouths and released a piercing shriek.

The sound was powerful enough to make the nearby glass doors tremble.

"Seriously, could you be any uglier?"

Caelus wasn’t interested in waiting for them to attack.

He gathered his Primordial Power and sent it crashing toward the approaching creatures.

BOOM!

The nearest monster was struck directly.

Its body folded under the tremendous force before smashing into the two creatures behind it.

All three exploded into pieces, scattering pale flesh across the empty road.

"Well, that was easy."

Caelus had expected at least some resistance.

After all, these creatures had supposedly invaded the Primordial World from an extremely dangerous realm.

However, just as he was about to turn his attention elsewhere, he noticed something strange.

The scattered pieces of flesh were moving.

"Hm?"

A severed arm suddenly swelled, and four thin legs emerged from its surface.

Nearby, a broken torso split into two smaller bodies, each developing its own mouth and limbs.

Within moments, the remains of the three creatures had begun transforming into several new monsters.

Caelus was speechless.

"What the hell? You’re multiplying?"

He had destroyed three creatures, yet now there were even more of them.

One of the newly formed monsters suddenly leaped toward his face.

Caelus caught it by the neck before it could reach him and crushed its head.

Unfortunately, that didn’t kill it.

Several fresh eyes opened along its damaged flesh, and a new mouth began forming near his wrist.

"Disgusting!"

He immediately threw the creature away.

At the same time, several others rushed toward him from different directions.

Sylvia stepped forward and swung her Blood-Moon Sword, cutting down the monsters attempting to attack Caelus from behind.

However, the severed pieces immediately began regenerating.

"Hubby! Cutting them apart isn’t working!"

"I noticed!"

Caelus was beginning to understand the problem.

These creatures weren’t simply regenerating damaged bodies.

Every separated piece could develop into an entirely new creature.

If he continued destroying them through ordinary physical attacks, he would only increase their numbers.

In that case, he needed to deal with whatever was allowing them to reproduce.

"Let’s see if you can still multiply after this."

Caelus extended his Primordial Power throughout the surrounding space, trapping the scattered creatures within his control.

[Skill Activated: Origin Lock.]

The effect was immediate.

Every creature within the affected area froze.

Caelus could sense their strange energy circulating through their bodies, continuously stimulating the growth of new flesh.

Using Origin Lock, he targeted that connection directly.

The energy responsible for their regeneration was forcibly suppressed, severing their ability to create additional bodies.

The results became apparent almost immediately.

Several half-formed limbs stopped growing.

A creature that had been developing a second head suddenly became motionless, while the others struggled desperately against the restriction.

"Good. Now let’s try that again."

Caelus raised his hand.

This time, instead of striking them individually, he compressed the surrounding space and crushed every trapped creature simultaneously.

BANG!

Their bodies exploded into pale dust.

However, Caelus didn’t immediately release Origin Lock.

He continued observing the remains, waiting to see whether they would regenerate again.

Several seconds passed.

Nothing happened.

"Haha! There we go."

It seemed Origin Lock was effective against their unusual regeneration.

Before he could celebrate further, a golden notification appeared above the emergency warning.

[Ding! Hostile entities eliminated.]

[Contribution recorded.]

"Oh? So killing these things actually gives contribution points?"

Caelus immediately opened the ranking interface.

A new entry had appeared among the names.

[Early Primordial Contribution Ranking.]

[Caelus Kross has entered the leaderboard.]

Seeing his name on the ranking, Caelus couldn’t help becoming interested.

The Akashic Records had promised rewards based on contribution, and considering that the invasion was affecting the entire Primordial World, those rewards might be quite extraordinary.

Of course, he still had no idea what these creatures were or where they had come from.

But if the Akashic Records intended to reward him for eliminating them, he certainly wasn’t going to refuse.

"Well then, let’s see how many of these things I can kill."
