Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World

Chapter 481: The Weightage Of Billion

  • Next Chapter

“One point five billion!”

“One point eight billion!”

The bidding had barely begun, yet the price was already approaching two billion Primordial Credits.

Caelus watched in disbelief as representatives from the major factions competed for the first High-Grade World Embryo.

These were the same people who had barely participated in the earlier auctions, but now they were throwing around hundreds of millions of Credits without hesitation.

“Two billion!”

“Two point two billion!”

The price continued climbing.

Freya attempted to count the numbers on her fingers, but after a few moments, she gave up.

“Big Brother, does this mean we’re rich now?”

“Ask me again after they actually pay us.”

Although Caelus tried to sound calm, he was already struggling to contain his excitement.

At this rate, they could purchase dozens of World Builders and still have enough Credits left to establish an enormous faction.

And this was only the first embryo.

Eventually, the bidding reached 2.4 billion Primordial Credits.

“Two point four billion! Going once! Going twice! Sold!”

The first High-Grade World Embryo was purchased by a representative of the Adler imperial family.

Caelus leaned back in his chair with a huge grin.

“2.4 billion for one embryo. We still have six more!”

Sylvia was equally excited.

“Hehe, hubby, I think we’re going to become incredibly wealthy today.”

“That’s what I’m starting to think too.”

The auctioneer wasted no time introducing the second embryo.

This time, the representatives of the Stellar Devils and the Celestial Court immediately began competing.

Neither side seemed willing to concede.

The price quickly surpassed two billion, and after several rounds of increasingly aggressive bidding, the Stellar Devils finally secured the embryo for 2.7 billion Credits.

Their representative appeared quite pleased with himself.

However, his satisfaction didn’t last long.

The third embryo was purchased by the Celestial Court for 2.5 billion.

“You should have waited for the next one!” someone from a nearby private room shouted.

“And risk leaving empty-handed? Why don’t you try bidding if you’re so clever?”

The exchange nearly made Caelus burst into laughter.

He was beginning to understand why Bertram had been so confident about the auction.

These factions weren’t merely purchasing World Embryos. They were also competing against one another, and their pride was driving the prices even higher.

Caelus certainly wasn’t going to complain.

The fourth embryo was purchased by the Eternal Forge for 2.9 billion Credits.

The fifth attracted an even fiercer competition between two imperial families before eventually selling for 3.1 billion to a faction represented by a silver crown.

By then, only two embryos remained.

The atmosphere inside the auction hall had become increasingly tense.

Those who had failed to obtain an embryo were growing desperate, while others who had been waiting for a better opportunity were finally beginning to participate.

The sixth embryo eventually sold to the Celestial Court for 3.4 billion Credits.

And when the seventh and final embryo was brought forward, the competition became even more intense.

“Three billion!”

The opening offer came directly from the Stellar Devils’ private room.

An Adler representative immediately raised the price.

The two factions continued competing until the bidding finally reached 3.8 billion Primordial Credits.

At that point, the Stellar Devils withdrew.

“Three point eight billion! Going once! Going twice!”

The auctioneer brought down her hammer.

“Sold to the Adler imperial family!”

The final sale sent Freya into a celebration.

“We’re rich! We’re rich!”

Sylvia couldn’t contain her excitement either. She immediately wrapped her arms around Caelus.

“Hubby! We actually sold all seven!”

“Haha! I know!”

“To think those two devils practically handed us a fortune. We should really thank them!”

Caelus laughed at that.

He still remembered how those two Stellar Devils had attempted to ambush them in the fog.

They certainly hadn’t expected their World Embryos to end up making him wealthy.

“Well, I suppose we already thanked them when we took their belongings.”

“Hehe, that’s true!”

Bertram allowed them to celebrate for a while before mentioning the total amount.

“Twenty point eight billion Primordial Credits. Even after deducting the auction house’s commission, you’ll have more money than most people in this world could ever hope to earn.”

“Twenty point eight billion…”

Caelus repeated the number to himself.

It was almost ridiculous.

Just yesterday, he hadn’t possessed a single Primordial Credit.

Now he had earned a fortune simply by selling seven World Embryos.

Of course, he still needed to complete the transaction before the money officially belonged to him.

Once the remaining auction items had been sold, an attendant escorted the group to a private office.

The auction house confirmed all seven payments, and Bertram helped Caelus verify the transaction.

As agreed, the auction house deducted a five percent commission.

Caelus also repaid the forty-five million Credits Bertram had spent purchasing the World Builder.

After everything was settled, a familiar system notification appeared before him.

[Primordial Credits: 19,715,000,000.]

Caelus couldn’t help smiling.

With this much money, he could finally begin making proper preparations for the Chaos Faction.

He needed to purchase construction materials, acquire suitable equipment, and investigate the requirements for officially establishing a faction under the Akashic Records.

There were plenty of things to do, but at least money wouldn’t be an immediate problem.

“Hubby, you’re already thinking about how to spend it, aren’t you?”

Sylvia slipped her hand into his as they left the office.

“Of course. We have an entire faction to build, remember?”

“Hehe, I thought you might be planning to buy something for yourself.”

“I might, but first I need to figure out what we actually need. Otherwise, Freya will probably convince me to spend everything on a bigger mansion.”

“Hey! I heard that!”

Freya hurried after them with Himmel walking beside her.

“I only asked for a bigger swimming pool!”

“And I’m still waiting for you to try the one we already have.”

“But a bigger one would be better!”

Caelus laughed.

“We’ll talk about it later. Let me figure out how to use the World Builder first.”

With the auction finally over, Bertram guided them through a side entrance.

Outside, the plaza was still crowded with people moving between the shops, transportation gates, and landing areas.

Caelus was already thinking about finding a suitable location to test the World Builder.

However, before he could bring up the idea, something strange happened.

The road several meters ahead suddenly distorted.

At first, Caelus thought he had imagined it.

The paving stones seemed to separate into square sections, revealing a strip of blue sky beneath them.

Then the distortion vanished.

“What was that?”

Before anyone could answer, the same phenomenon occurred again.

This time, the corner of a nearby shop shifted several feet to the left before abruptly returning to its original position.

Several pedestrians screamed.

“What the hell is happening?!”

“Look! The space is breaking!”

Caelus immediately tightened his grip on Sylvia’s hand.

A massive crack had appeared in the air above the street.

It continued expanding until it formed a dark opening, and something pale began forcing its way through.

The creature that emerged was unlike anything Caelus had ever encountered.

Its head hung beneath its chest, while its long arms bent at several unnatural angles.

A row of eyes opened along its neck, each moving independently as it examined the surroundings.

“What the hell is that thing?”

Another creature crawled through the opening before anyone could respond.

This one possessed an enormous mouth running vertically down its stomach.

Even more disturbing were the thin fingers growing between its teeth, which it used to grip the edges of the portal and pull itself into the world.

And they weren’t alone.
