Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World

Chapter 474: A Brand New Transformation

  • Next Chapter

The Stellar Devil Transformation settled into Caelus’s body, then immediately stirred the dragon power already within him. Heat spread through his chest as the two began mixing.

Black scales covered his fingers. Red light shone between them while he felt another pair of horns trying to form above his temples.

Caelus frowned and held his hand away from the others. He hadn’t tried to transform, so why was his body changing on its own?

The scales thickened around his knuckles and then sank beneath his skin. Inside him the Stellar Devil power flowed into his dragon transformation instead of remaining separate.

A system panel appeared.

[Ding! Stellar Devil Transformation is merging with Chaos Dragon Transformation!]

Caelus’s eyes widened. He watched the changes within his body as the two powers joined together and spread through his limbs.

The heat soon faded into a steady warmth. He could feel new wings and claws waiting to take shape, along with a body far stronger than the dragon form he knew.

[Ding! Transformation evolved: Chaos Devil Dragon!]

[Transformation Level: Primordial.]

[Transformation Bonus: Power +50 while active.]

[Ding! You obtained Racial Trait – Stellar-Devil Fire.]

[Stellar Devil Fire – Unleash destructive stellar flames that burn through energy defenses and flesh.]

“Fifty and a Racal Trait?”

Caelus read the bonus again to make sure he hadn’t mistaken it for five. He had entered the Primordial rank with a Power of one, and this transformation alone could now add fifty.

His lips slowly curved into a grin.

Becoming a Primordial had already fully unlocked his old dragon transformation. Now the fusion had evolved it into a Primordial-level form of its own.

He flexed his fingers and watched the last scales withdraw. The change was complete without him having to release the whole transformation.

A small dark red flame rose above his fingertip. Caelus extinguished it after feeling the power packed inside it, since his companions were standing close.

If one stolen transformation could merge with his dragon power, what would happen if he collected more? Could he keep combining them until he created something closer to Origin itself?

He couldn’t be certain, but the possibility made him eager to try. Endless Extraction had just given him another reason to pay attention to unusual enemies.

Just then, Sylvia came over to his side.

“Caelus, what happened?”

“I got a little more than I expected.”

Caelus laughed and told them about the fusion. He explained the new fire and then showed them the transformation’s bonus.

Himmel’s eyebrows rose at the number. Sylvia broke into a delighted smile and caught Caelus’s hand. She was naturally happy for him too.

Freya was staring at the transformation’s name with far more interest than its bonus.

“A devil dragon? Can you turn into it now?”

“Here?”

“Yes! I want to see what it looks like.”

Caelus looked at the rocks crowding their small clearing.

“Then you’ll have to move unless you want to see it from underneath.”

Freya hurried back several steps. Sylvia caught her before she could disappear into the fog.

Sylvia rolled her eyes and then spoke. “He means later. We still have an embryo to find.”

Freya looked back at him with such obvious disappointment that Caelus nearly gave in.

“I’ll show you when there’s room.”

“You promised.” Freya puffed her cheeks up in tantrum. “Bad Big Brother.”

“Alright, stop acting like a child. I said I will show you later right? How are you a primordial and have no patience? Now come back before we have to use this thing to find you.”

He held up the navigation device and Freya returned to Sylvia’s side.

Their main goal was still finding the world embryo. Hence, they begin observing the device once again.

Himmel studied the marked route while Caelus checked the direction of the bright point.

They followed it between two stone ridges. The fog grew thick enough to hide the ground ahead, but the device showed where the path curved around a deep crack.

Caelus stopped at its edge and looked down. He couldn’t see the bottom through the white mist.

Without the device they might have wasted a long time searching for a safe way around. He followed its route along the ridge and reached a shallow pool on the other side.

A golden sphere floated above the water.

Its light reached through the surrounding fog and reflected across the pool. Inside it several layers of land circled a bright center.

The device displayed its grade as Caelus approached.

[World Embryo detected.]

[Grade: High.]

“We found one!”

Freya rushed to the pool’s edge while Sylvia laughed and squeezed Caelus’s hand. Even Himmel smiled at the sight.

Caelus reached across the water and took the embryo. They had barely entered the zone and already had something worth building a Primordial Core around.

This device was truly useful!

He turned it in his palm and examined the moving land within it. Compared with the brown embryo, the power inside this one felt much richer.

“One down,” Sylvia said. “Let’s see if we can find enough for everyone.”

“Yeah, the way things are I’m pretty sure we can find one for everyone. Hopefully.”

Caelus raised his free hand and focused the Authority of Space into his fingertip.

[Authority Activated: Space.]

A tiny opening appeared above his skin. Beyond it space expanded until it was large enough to hold a planet, while the entrance remained no wider than his finger.

Caelus stared at what he had made.

He had expected to work at it. Instead the space had taken shape almost as easily as opening his hand, and he could feel its boundaries without looking inside.

The Authority of Space made the whole process remarkably simple.

He guided the embryo through the opening and closed it. The golden sphere remained suspended inside while his fingertip looked completely normal.

He saw everyone looking at him curiously.

Seeing this, he smiled and decided to explain.

“It’s the authority of space. I don’t have much control right now but I can create small pocket dimensions like that.”

“There’s enough room in there for a planet and I’m pretty sure I can go higher from this.”

Just then, the device sent out a notification.

[Ding! Another powerful World Embryo detected nearby!]
