Chapter 1850: Tiny Needle
Chapter 1850: Tiny Needle
While Adam was in Vador’s inner space, Romara and Amelia finally had a chance to discuss what was happening.
“And? What are you going to do when this Phantom fails?” Romara frowned. “Do you really think he can save Vador?”
Without a hint of hesitation in her gaze, Amelia nodded firmly.
“I believe he will. Besides, what other options do you have? Asking Adam Vinter for help is the most advantageous, safest, and best solution we have.”
“You… pragmatic bitch!” Romara clenched her fists tightly. “We have connections with several True Lords! One of them is sure to have the skills needed to help Vador!”
Amelia narrowed her eyes, a dangerous glint flashing across them.
“That’s true, but what awaits us afterward? Do you think they’ll pass up such an opportunity to blackmail us? We’re one of the few possessors of the Legacy Artifact. Even if they can’t take the Spirit of Eternal Winter without killing us all, they can make us their eternal debtors.”
Romara wanted to say something, but Amelia didn’t let her as she continued:
“What if the True Lord we’ve invited decides this is a great opportunity to get rid of the Grad Family? We possess great power against ordinary monsters and Lords, but against them? We wouldn’t be able to do anything, even at our best.”
“Amelia!” Romara exclaimed. “Don’t forget where we are! This is Varreyn, a city located on the Renegades’ territory! No one would dare cause chaos here, not even a True Lord! Why is it so hard for you to think things through?”
In an instant, the room’s temperature dropped as Amelia’s voice grew icy.
“Unlike you, Mother, I think everything through. Sure, maybe the Renegades will protect us, but only if they have time to do so. If a True Lord kills our entire family in a minute, which is entirely possible, they won’t destroy half the city fighting a True Lord for the sake of our already dead bodies.”
She narrowed her eyes, staring intently at Romara, as if trying to burn the foolishness out of her mind.
“You have to understand this. I can’t take that risk, and Adam Vinter has every chance of helping us even better than the True Lords, since his abilities are very specific.”
Romara’s eyes darted from side to side as she remembered something.
“Forgotten Mills! Yes! I’m sure you know that his abilities came from a monster that came from those lands! Can’t we ask one of them for help? They must be better at using threads and needles!”
However, Amelia shook her head, her expression suggesting she’d already thought about this many times.
“They’re focused on only one aspect, only on controlling threads, only on needles or cuts. You know this. I’m sure of it.”
She turned toward Adam.
“He’s the only one who possesses all the powerful aspects of these monsters because he’s a Phantom.”
For a moment, Amelia fell silent as she bit her lip.
“Yeah… I have to agree that Norax could probably help us, but I’d rather not deal with that bastard any more than I’d want to deal with the True Lords, who’d gladly get rid of us for a chance at a Legacy Artifact.”
Amelia’s arguments made sense. Romara couldn’t deny it.
The truth was that she wasn’t opposed to Adam’s candidacy, but she and Amelia had argued fiercely because Amelia didn’t want to trust anyone anymore.
Amelia had placed a big bet on Adam, believing in his uniqueness and abilities. If she were right, Adam would cure their father, and after they rewarded him, their paths would part.
But if Amelia was wrong, they might simply run out of time to find someone who could save Vador, even if they were willing to pay any price for it.
“Agh…” Romara sighed heavily. “I hope you-“
Tremble! Tremble! Tremble!
Before she could finish, a powerful surge of energy burst forth from Adam, shaking the room.
Amelia’s pupils contracted in shock as she instinctively took a step back. Romara did the same, even though they were the Lords.
“Is he evolving right now?”
That was Amelia’s first thought.
“No, that’s impossible. If he were actually evolving, his energy pillar would have already destroyed this room. That means…”
Clutch.
She clenched her fists as her gaze grew more serious than ever.
“Did a change in his ability trigger something this powerful?”
…
At that very moment, the white energy flows rushed past Adam, heading toward his black needle.
His eyes were closed as he focused on a single task, changing the shape of his needle. He needed something he could work with.
No matter how skilled a surgeon was, he needed a scalpel, not a cleaver. The same was true for Adam.
Fortunately for him, he wasn’t doing this alone. The Silver Weaver and Lone Blaze were with him, offering advice, for they didn’t just know his abilities. They were those abilities.
“Good, very good.” The Silver Weaver nodded, watching as the sword-like needle in Adam’s grip gradually shrank. “Keep using your energy, apply pressure until you reach the right size.”
Adam’s eyebrow twitched.
“You know, sometimes I feel like you’re only here to watch or laugh at me. What kind of advice is that? Obviously, I have to use my energy!”
“Pffft! If it weren’t for me, you’d still be wondering where to start!” The Silver Weaver snorted.
Usually, Lone Blaze would step in during situations like this, but not now. Every time the Silver Weaver made his seemingly useless comments, it annoyed Adam, and he ended up using more energy.
‘It’s a simple, even silly tactic, but who cares if it works, right?’
She stood to the side, watching the process unfold.
A few more minutes later, Adam’s needle lost its broad blades and returned to the size it had been when he first used this ability.
Adam didn’t stop, and soon, Lone Blaze saw what they had both been waiting for.
“Great,” the Silver Weaver grinned.
A small, white needle, just like the one on the operating table, was reflected in his eyes.
