Chapter 1745 1745: Blood and Sound (Part 1)

One of Adam's greatest strengths was his ability to cut through and pierce everything in his path. He had been able to do this ever since he first became a K0-Phantom, on his very first day, and from that moment on, this power only grew stronger and more deadly.

Several times, Adam faced opponents whose defense was so formidable that even his path proved insufficient. But each of those instances was, to some extent, an exception, a crucial turning point in Adam's story.

However… what about opponents whose blade was sharper than anything Adam possessed?

Sure, swords, blades, and general cleaves were fairly popular weapons and abilities.

But Adam's needle and his path always had the upper hand in any of his battles.

Now, Adam wasn't so sure of that anymore.

"How much energy did he use for that attack?" Adam gulped, his eyes widening in disbelief.

He felt firsthand just how dangerous a simple sound wave emanating from Zin's snap of his fingers could be.

In the sound blade Zin had created, there were more than a dozen of these waves. They became so dense that the previously invisible blade took on a purple hue.

'Adam.' The Silver Weaver's voice echoed in his head. 'I don't know what this blade is capable of, but we must be prepared for anything. We should dodge first. I'm not sure I can block it.'

In fact, for Adam, this was the most terrifying part. The Silver Weaver had always been a confident and arrogant being. After all, he was a reflection of Adam's memories of his very first slain monster that had fallen under the influence of the First Star.

If the Silver Weaver was becoming cautious, then the situation was indeed dire.

Adam nodded and assumed a fighting stance.

'Alright, I'll do my best.'

Blink.

Adam blinked, and to his shock, he realized that Zin's hand was already lowered, his palm pointing at him like a sharp spear.

WHOOOOOOSHHH!!!

At the same moment, at tremendous speed, the sound blade swept through the arena, reminding Adam of one of his abilities - the Imaginary Cut.

However, if Zin's sound blade and Adam's Imaginary Cut were to clash right now, the winner would be obvious.

Against the unstoppable blade, Adam's cut would look like nothing more than a simple gust of wind.

"Shit! I have to dodge! Right now!" Adam exclaimed inwardly as his torso leaned to the right.

As soon as his foot touched the ground, he felt as if something had brushed against him, something in the area of his shoulder.

Instinctively, his eyes darted to the left as his pupils contracted.

It seemed as if the world itself had frozen, but it was merely Adam's mind reacting to what was happening.

For a few seconds, he stared at the sound blade that had stopped right in his shoulder, slowly slicing through it with the same ease as a sharp knife would cut through a sheet of paper.

The first spurt of blood gushed from his shoulder, and then everything suddenly sped up.

In fact, the few seconds Adam spent staring at the sound blade passed in less than a split second. After all, the sound blade was moving so fast that even Adam managed to take only a single step to the side, and perhaps that was what saved his life.

But Adam wasn't the only target of the sound blade. He just happened to be in its path, just like half the arena and its walls.

CRACK! CRACK! CRACK!

With a deafening roar, the sound blade sliced through the arena floor and slammed into the wall behind Adam.

Even their most powerful attacks had been unable to seriously damage these walls, but now everything was different.

SHAKE!

The sound blade cut through the outer layer before reaching the inner, more durable layer of black stone. This layer was also protected by a barrier to keep the spectators sitting close to the arena safe.

Unfortunately for them, even the best safety systems sometimes fail.

"What the…?!" The young man exclaimed, jumping up from his seat.

One sound wave after another emanated from the sound blade, exerting pressure on the barrier.

In no time, the first cracks ran across the barrier as a multitude of monsters rose from their seats and hurried to leave the danger zone.

Crack!

The barrier shattered into fragments as the sound blade advanced further, slicing through the high stands.

Only when the sound blade reached the outer part of the Hail Passage did it lose its momentum and finally come to a stop, leaving a deep gash in the cave wall.

Everyone immediately turned toward the incident. Many realized that, given the speed at which the sound blade was moving, casualties were inevitable. Adam had barely managed to save his own life, so the much weaker monsters hardly stood a chance.

"Agh…?"

"Wait, how did this happen?"

However, instead of horror, their faces reflected surprise and confusion.

The spectator stands were cleaved in two, just as the arena beneath the seats was a single solid block of stone filled with energy.

Still, there wasn't a single drop of blood on either the rift's edges or the seats, only shreds of torn clothing from the rush.

Somehow, no one was hurt.

Obviously, the spectators who found themselves in the path of the sound blade were the most surprised of all. They stared at each other with wide eyes in disbelief.

"How…?" The woman looked at her hands, not a single scratch.

Soon, they got their answers.

Tremble!

Previously invisible outlines materialized as the faces of the surviving spectators turned as pale as a sheet of paper.

Countless jaws with purple eyes burning like ghostly lanterns covered the area before them, forming impenetrable walls. Several jaws covered each monster, protecting its weak spots.

Whoooosh.

With a slight smile on his face, Kaerno waved his hand as the jaws trembled and vanished in a single flow.

One by one, the monsters collapsed to their knees on the ground, their eyes filled with fear. Only a few of them looked at Kaerno and nodded in gratitude.

"BOSS!!!" Sarka exclaimed with a wide smile. "That was so cool!"

"Hah, at least someone here knows how to say thanks. Thanks, Sarka." Kaerno chuckled as his eyes turned to Adam, covered in blood.

Then, he looked at Zin.

'Looks like you've almost achieved your goal, right? Go on, Zin, Queen Elisa's blood is right in front of you. You've got just one step left.'
