Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1679 1679: Sword Wall

Chapter 1679 1679: Sword Wall

The second servant turned out to be significantly stronger than the first one. This was exactly what Sarka had counted on, as it was the best way to find out where the last servant was.

Step.

Loargh stepped forward. Handfuls of ash from the burned living roots surrounded him, but his gaze was fixed solely on the amber energy flows slowly emanating from the giant flower's remains.

"So, are we just going to follow the trail?" Adam asked, approaching him. Sarka and Vyora followed him. If it were up to them, they would have fought right here and now.

Loargh nodded. "Yes. However, even when we encounter the third servant, we must be careful. We must not let the last servant take all our attention."

"Hmm?" Adam was confused. "Why?"

Vyora stood to his left.

"Because our opponent will not only be the third servant, but the Frenzied Shard itself. Don't forget that all servants draw their power directly from the shard, and even if there were no servants, many monsters wouldn't be able to withstand the shard's power."

"That's not all." Sarka waved her hand dismissively. "Most likely, once the Frenzied Shard realizes how strong we are and that we've come to win, it will channel all the power that previously belonged to the first and second servants into the third one."

Adam nodded deeply, a pensive look on his face.

Despite their warnings, he didn't see any threat in this.

What difference does it make how strong the third servant is if there were four of them?

Three of them were the Fangs, the strongest of the Elders in the Hollow Lands, and Adam wasn't far behind, after all, he had defeated Larth, who was also a Fang.

"We must move on." Adam gazed into the distance, his blue eyes growing deeper. "I want to see the Frenzied Shard. I want to understand what gave you such unique power."

Vyora smirked as she brushed her hair back with her hand.

"Hah, don't envy us! It's not our fault that you're a human, and such power is beyond your reach."

"No."

Adam's cold voice made Vyora turn around.

"Monsters and humans are actually similar. At the Lord Level, you even get your own weapon. But there's one thing you'll never have."

He placed his hand on his chest, staring intently at Vyora.

"In the end, you'll be left alone, but not me, because I have my eternal partner."

A shiver ran through Vyora's body as she bit her lip.

"Pfffft! I believe in myself and my powers! That's enough for me to defeat any enemy."

Slap!

Sarka slapped Adam on the back with a broad grin.

"Great job. Every time that bitch gets nervous, it cheers me up!"

"Argh?" Vyora clenched her teeth in anger. "What did you just say? You're just a wild beast who got lucky enough to become strong!"

Before their little clash could escalate into something more serious, Loargh stepped in.

"Calm down. We have no reason to fight. Once we defeat our common enemy and weaken the Frenzied Shard, we'll decide who gets this treasure through a fair duel, as we agreed earlier."

"Tsk. My patience isn't endless!" Vyora stamped her foot, turned around, and headed toward the amber flow. If she stayed near Sarka even a moment longer, she'd attack her.

In response, Sarka merely stuck her tongue out at her in a mocking taunt.

Loargh didn't react at all and followed Vyora. It seemed as though he knew this was exactly what would happen if the two met, no matter where it was, the Hollow Lands or the Pit.

'How unusual,' Adam noted. 'If this were any other lands, these two would have torn each other to pieces long ago. The fact that the two factions here are rivals rather than enemies. That's actually true, right?'

Step. Step. Step.

For a while, they walked forward, unhurriedly. The amber glow emanating from the second servant was faint, but steady. With enough patience, sooner or later, they would figure out where the third servant was.

The golden clock and the meteorite impact site were far behind them now, though the clock was so massive that it was still visible in the distance.

Crunch.

The fragile concrete block crumbled under Adam's weight as they stopped at the edge of the cliff.

The amber flow reflected in Adam's eyes as his gaze followed it, far ahead, until it finally came to a halt.

"Wait… You don't mean to say that-?"

Loargh nodded deeply, keeping his hands behind his back. "Yes. We definitely need to go there."

The four of them looked at the great swords embedded in the ground, forming a closed circle like an arena. Each sword was old, with dust settling on its guards. Some blades were ragged, others were completely rusted.

Although each sword was comparable in size to the golden clock, there were so many of them that they overlapped, leaving not even a narrow gap for an outside observer.

"That is exactly where the third servant is."

Unlike Loargh, who remained calm, Vyora gave a deep frown.

"Shit. Is that the Frenzied Shard with its lair? This isn't what I was prepared for!"

"Lair? What does that mean?"

Sarka waved her hand. "Relax. There's nothing to fear here. Some Frenzied Shards are stronger, others weaker, nothing is surprising about that."

"That…" Loargh stumbled. "That's a huge oversimplification. Adam, the 'lair' type means it's a powerful Frenzied Shard, powerful enough to create something like a fortress or an arena for itself. Every shard does it differently."

Adam blinked, looking around. The amber flow led straight to the sword wall.

"You mean to say that usually they should just lie among scraps or somewhere in the corner of some cave instead of building a wall of giant swords for themselves?"

"Exactly. As you understand, a regular Frenzied Shard simply isn't capable of that."

"Hah."

Adam put his hands on his hips.

"So does that mean the third servant will be stronger than the other servants of its level?"

"Unfortunately, that's true." Loargh had no choice but to agree.

"Hah!"

Sarka exclaimed joyfully, placing a hand on Adam's shoulder.

"That's just great news! Let's go! We'll kick that bastard's ass!"
