Chapter 1605 1605: Reason for Kidnapping
Chapter 1605 1605: Reason for Kidnapping
As it turned out, Liliane's miss, who gave them the order to kidnap Adam Vinter, was not the only interested party from the Befallen Crown.
The fact that Morok was here proved it.
They waited for Goen to say goodbye to Adam and stayed far enough away that Goen couldn't sense them. Thus, they followed their plan and decided to meet Adam right at the border of the Primal Lands.
Moreover, although Morok's team was smaller in number than Liliane's, he and all his subordinates significantly surpassed Liliane's team in terms of strength.
Alexia clearly felt this difference, a slight tremor continuing to run through her body. If Morok and Liliane's teams had clashed, Morok would have been the winner in 100 out of 100 battles, with no chance for Liliane.
Still, Morok did not expect that he would be able to defeat Ramilo and capture Adam, and there was only one reason for this:
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
A terrifying aura like a dark flame emanated from Ramilo, filling the vast expanse with darkness. At the center of the source was Ramilo himself, sitting cross-legged, his blue eyes shining brightly.
The four monsters instinctively took a step back, and only Morok remained in his spot, motionless.
"Hah, you say you're old?" Morok snorted. "I'm sure you'll outlive every one of us."
Ramilo grinned predatorily, tilting his head at a sinister angle.
"So? What decision have you made, Morok? Will you let me take this girl to the Citadel and go in search of Adam Vinter yourself, or... would you rather test what I'm capable of?"
It was a difficult choice. Deep down, Morok knew that Ramilo's story was nonsense. If Ramilo really wanted to, he could protect Adam from almost any monster in the Primal Lands.
Even Morok's plan did not include defeating Ramilo. What Morok was going to do was distract Ramilo for just a couple of seconds. That would be enough time to grab Adam and run away.
Morok didn't hope for a complete victory over Ramilo. He understood that it was unrealistic.
Still, he found himself in a situation where he had to find out what they were capable of.
"I see. So you want to continue playing this game." Morok nodded and glanced at the young man on his left.
Morok nodded as the young man disappeared.
Whoooooooosh.
In the next moment, the young man appeared to Ramilo's right, a glint running across the blade of his long katana. One swing would be enough to cut the hill in two.
Twitch.
Ramilo's fingers twitched as in the next moment the young man's right arm was in Ramilo's grip.
The young man's eyes widened as he stepped back sharply, reappearing next to his teammates.
Drip. Drip. Drip.
Heavy clots of blood dripped from the open wound on his shoulder. In just a moment, he had lost his arm, which was now in Ramilo's grasp, from his fingertips to his shoulder.
The young man's face did not show any obvious pain. He just touched his shoulder, directing energy there to close his wound.
Morok remained calm as well. This was one of the many options he had expected.
"That was impressive. Such speed... How dare you call yourself old after that?"
Morok pointed at the young man's arm.
"Will you give it back to us, or—?"
Tap.
With a slight smile, Ramilo tapped the young man's arm. As soon as his claw touched the skin, the arm trembled and exploded into bloody shreds.
"I see. That was to be expected." Morok sighed heavily.
Ramilo shrugged.
"You should be grateful I didn't kill him. He got too close to me. I could have ripped the spine right out of his neck. I had a split second to do it. That's more than enough."
It wasn't bravado on his part, Morok understood that.
"Tsk. Whatever. You can escort this girl to the Citadel, she's of no interest to us."
Alexia frowned, but didn't say anything. It was too dangerous.
"Well, in that case, you'd better get out of my way before I actually get angry. You're the second person today who's tried to piss me off. That's too much."
Ramilo's eyes narrowed into threatening slits.
"I don't have that much patience."
Morok said nothing as he waved his hand.
He disappeared first, the other four Lords following him in swift shadows.
When there was a conflict or skirmish between particularly strong monsters, it was most often resolved by conversation or a quick attack, as in this case.
Monsters of this level rarely engaged in full-scale battles where the risk of death was high.
It was not only because they could die as a result, but also because of the destruction they would cause with their strikes and the attention they would attract.
It is unknown what would have happened if Morok had attacked Ramilo with full force. Most likely, Ramilo would have killed every one of them, and perhaps their clash would have angered some powerful monster in these lands who would have sided with Ramilo even if he was losing.
Either way, Ramilo had much more experience in this matter than Alexia, who was left in shock.
"Wait... They left? Just like that?"
Ramilo nodded.
"Yeah. They have no other choice. I don't know if they'll try to find Adam or return to the Befallen Crown, but it's no longer our problem."
"What? Ramilo!" Alexia exclaimed indignantly. "We have to find the bastard who kidnapped Adam and save him! It's very important!"
Ramilo smiled bitterly.
"Hey, you still don't get it, do you?"
"Agh?" Alexia blinked several times, confused.
"Zargos had been following Adam since his fight with Vaarh, driven by curiosity. So, he knew before anyone else what Morok and his team were going to do."
Ramilo waved his hand.
"Zargos attacked us not to kidnap Adam and hand him over to the Befallen Crown, but to save him from Morok and rid the two of us of trouble."
Alexia's jaw dropped to the floor. She couldn't believe it.
Ramilo scratched his cheek.
"Damn, he should have said that right away instead of in the heat of battle. What is he doing now?"
