Chapter 1585 1585: Eighth member
Chapter 1585 1585: Eighth member
It seemed that the seven Lords should have been able to easily deal with one unknown hunter, but the woman who gave Liliane's team the order to capture Adam Vinter did not think so.
That is why she contacted the Old Horn. She knew that when it came to Adam Vinter, someone was sure to protect him. If it wasn't Frida, then it was someone else.
Sure, maybe this unknown hunter would have turned out to be some kind of weakling, but... Now, it was obvious to everyone that she had made the right decision by calling the Old Horn.
It was unlikely that the ice wyverns could tear the red-haired girl to pieces, but she would definitely get a few wounds that would bring them closer to defeat.
Goen hadn't used anything but his basic energy, and he was already winning.
Tap.
The Old Horn squeezed the red-haired girl's shoulder tightly, almost to the point of pain.
"You know. Maybe we don't need a weakling like you, what do you think?"
She gulped, fear welling up in her eyes. She didn't know who this monster was, but his words and presence were enough to make her teeth chatter.
Slowly, the Old Horn raised his hand before patting her shoulder in a friendly manner.
"Hahaha! Don't make that face! I'm just kidding! You know, trying to find common ground with the new team!" The Old Horn laughed.
Whooooooosh.
Liliane was in front of her in a step. It wasn't part of her plan, but she knew Adam and Alexia weren't going anywhere. Either Goen would win, or they would.
"Who the hell are you?" Liliane pointed her rapier at the Old Horn.
Before he could answer, the young man's voice rang out:
"Hey, lady, I wouldn't advise you to point your weapon at him."
"Hah!" The Old Horn chuckled. "That boy is right. I came here because your miss personally asked me to. She knew that someone would protect Adam Vinter, just like last time."
Liliane frowned. The fact that her Miss had sent someone to help them meant that she didn't believe in their strength.
"Come on, she was right." The Old Horn waved his hand as his gaze fell on Goen. "That hunter. Hah, you're lucky it wasn't the one I thought it was. Although for you kids, he's still too strong, isn't he?"
Tap.
Liliane poked the Old Horn in the chest with the tip of her rapier.
"Agh?"
"Since it was her decision, I'll temporarily accept you into my fifth team. But, I am the captain, and you must obey my orders."
Strangely enough, the Old Horn just smiled broadly. He liked the fire in Liliane's eyes.
"Alright, but I'm used to attacking from the front and acting aggressively. Do you have a place for me in your formation, lady captain?"
Liliane nodded.
"Yes. You will attack alongside me. Since Miss has decided that you are necessary for victory, it means you possess enormous power."
The Old Horn smirked as his aura grew several times larger.
The ice wyverns circling above them froze before flying away from the Old Horn as far as possible.
They couldn't afford to be close to someone so dangerous.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
From the dense blue energy in his hand appeared a great axe with a long handle and a sharp blade. This axe would only be suitable for a strong warrior who would struggle to hold it with two hands, but the Old Horn needed only one hand.
After all, he was now in his full form. Unlike the others, he did not need to take human form to achieve the best mobility and speed his body was capable of.
Clutch.
The Old Horn gripped his axe tightly, a thin layer of ice covering his fingers, while the temperature around him dropped significantly, even for the Primal Lands.
Liliane's breath became cold as her gaze deepened. Now that she had seen the Old Horn's Arc, she was certain that with its power, they would surely win.
"Hey, have I been waiting long?"
Everyone looked down at Goen, who was casually scratching behind his ear.
"I need to get ready for dinner soon. You know, I have to cook for myself, I don't have any servants. So, how about we get down to business?"
Liliane waved her rapier, staring intently at Goen.
"Ready?"
The Old Horn licked his lips.
"Of course. Go ahead, show us what you can do, captain of the fifth team."
At her signal, all seven attacked simultaneously. Only the young man remained inactive, watching Goen from above.
The smoke barrier was strong and full of energy, so no one aimed at Adam and Alexia. They realized that to get to them, they had to defeat Goen first.
Step. Step. Step.
Goen stepped forward, standing in the middle of the lake with an emotionless look. His steps were so calm that the water's surface did not even tremble.
In a heartbeat, Liliane appeared to his left and the Old Horn to his right. The white rapier and ice axe struck him simultaneously.
"Now, you won't be able to dodge our simultaneous attack!" Liliane exclaimed inwardly as she saw her rapier approaching Goen.
But...
Goen didn't even pay attention to her. He turned around, leaving his back exposed, while his hand reached for the Old Horn.
He stopped the Old Horn's axe with his hand as the shockwave froze the center of the lake.
'What is he doing...?' Liliane was confused as soon as a thick fume reflected in her surprised eyes.
Her rapier, weapon of a Lord, could not break through the barrier that was simply Goen's energy and nothing more.
"W-What? That's impossible!" Liliane exclaimed, preparing to strike again.
Goen turned to her over his shoulder.
"Hmm? Is it so hard for you to accept that you are so much weaker than someone else?"
WHooooooooosh.
Before she could comprehend it, Goen grabbed her wrist and threw her straight into the pale man who had appeared behind him, stopping his hidden attack.
Adam gulped as he watched the scene unfold.
This was the kind of power he himself wanted to possess.
