Chapter 1583 1583: A Simple Hunter
Was he just a hunter?
This question was on the minds of everyone on the fifth team.
Obviously, no one believed Goen. No one could possess such power by accident. Now, this became clear not only to Liliane, who was the first to shed blood, but to everyone else as well.
Step. Step.
Two men stepped forward as a flaming hammer and a lightning axe appeared in their hands. In their team, they always had to follow Liliane and support her against their common enemy.
She possessed speed and the ability to deliver accurate, piercing strikes, while their attacks carried tremendous power.
The red-haired girl and blue-haired girl summoned their Arcs as well. The red-haired girl had two blades full of crimson electric discharges in her hands, while the blue-haired girl had a great bow, with streams of water slowly swirling around her.
Next was the pale man with green eyes. He remained silent, which was reflected in his abilities.
His Arc was a short sword with a dark blade that partially disappeared along with his body in the shadow that appeared under his feet like a pond. As soon as Goen opened himself up for a strike, the pale man would surely take advantage of it.
"Well, well..." Goen tapped on his arm. "Three in front, two attacking from a distance, and one more working at all distances, waiting for the right moment."
He raised his head to the young man who remained hovering in the sky.
"But what about you? You don't seem as useless as the rest, right?"
The young man just grinned as he looked at Liliane.
"I will only act when my captain gives a direct order. Everything else doesn't interest me that much."
He demonstratively began to pick at his fingernails.
"You know, no matter how strong you are, you can't escape us. If the Befallen Crown has decided that Adam Vinter must be destroyed, then that's what will happen."
Goen shrugged. His expression showed that he didn't take their threats seriously.
"Well, if that were true, they would have sent one of the True Lords here. You're just children who don't understand how cruel this world can be."
If someone else had said that, it would have sounded silly.
Seven Lords were standing before them. Even though they were all born into great families, with incredible talent and unlimited resources, they had all lived in this world for at least 100 years.
That was the minimum, and most likely, each of them had already seen several World Wipes, as had most of the Lords of this world.
"T-True Lords?" The blue-haired girl shuddered. "Don't be ridiculous! Do you really think you're worthy of their attention?!"
As in the Citadel, the strongest warriors were both respected and feared by all.
At the Citadel, there were many people who not only loved and respected Damien but also felt terror towards his power. The same was true of the monsters when they heard someone mention his name.
Among the Lords, the strongest were the True Ones. Such warriors existed in every faction, but given the strict hierarchy of the Befallen Crown, the fifth team thought of the Lords who stood above them.
Goen waved his hand carelessly.
"You can try to attack me and find out if I'm worthy or not. But you still have a chance to leave. If you run away now, I'll pretend we never met."
"Shut it!!!" Liliane's shout rang out across the territory like thunder. "We will carry out the order and capture Adam Vinter! The rest we will destroy!"
Without hesitation, Liliane directed a powerful energy flow along her rapier, launching an azure pulse straight at Adam and Alexia.
She decided that if she attacked the two weak Phantoms, it would put Goen in a difficult situation.
Well, her tactic made sense, but she couldn't imagine what would happen next.
Click.
Goen snapped his fingers as his energy in thick fog surrounded Adam and Alexia. Half of the barrier was transparent, and half consisted of a dense fog ring that slowly moved around.
BLAST!
A devastating explosion of blue flames rang out as Liliane's lips curled upward. She saw that neither Adam nor Alexia had time to dodge.
'Hah, what else could be expected from weak Phantoms?'
She controlled her power, so Adam should survive, albeit with serious injuries.
But...
Soon, the smirk on her face disappeared.
The smoke veil dissipated, revealing that Goen's barrier hadn't even flinched. The fog dome continued to slowly circle Adam and Alexia, who remained unharmed. Here, they were completely safe.
Adam gulped.
He wasn't used to being in this kind of situation. The last time this happened was at the Dark Shore, another place where the Befallen Crown had a strong influence.
Now, it wasn't him fighting, but someone else. Someone was protecting him, and all he could do was sit and watch, hoping that his guardian would prove to be strong enough.
'Shit, now it's even worse than before.' Adam bit his lip, thinking about an escape plan.
At the Dark Shore, he had Kenward, Saegar, and Wilfred himself on his side. Moreover, Adam didn't have to find his way back to the Citadel. The First Star did all the work for him, bringing him there through a black flash.
Now, only Goen was with them.
"Will he be able to handle it? Damn it. Silvana, do you still have no information about him?"
Silvana shook her head.
"Sorry, I can't find a single Second Rank Phantom named Goen. Searching by appearance and abilities was also unsuccessful. There are several Phantoms similar to him in some ways, but... they are all below K4-Level, and there is no exact match."
Crunch. Crunch. Crunch.
Goen cracked his knuckles and neck before stepping forward.
"Alright, I think you all understand the rules. If you kill me, you can do whatever you want with these two. You can try to destroy the barrier, but if I were you, I wouldn't waste my energy on it."
His green eyes narrowed as he stared intently at the seven Lords.
"So, who's next?"
