Emperor of the Source
Chapter 445: Beyond a One-Man Sect
With the test complete, Adrian turned away from the void he had crossed and faced the boundary of the Virelith Galaxy. He could have opened a portal to the Azure Garden immediately after the Door returned him to the ancient galaxy, but retracing the full route had forced Temporal Continuum to preserve his spatial transitions, mana cycles, and course corrections for twenty-eight subjective days, proving that every part of his existence could remain synchronized while operating five times faster than the surrounding universe.
Adrian fixed the Azure Garden's recorded coordinates within his mind and extended his mana into the surrounding space. The void folded inward as a portal opened before him. He stepped through without hesitation, already expecting to see the relic planet.
Instead, Adrian emerged into empty space.
No luminous trees spread across a planet beneath him. The ancient relic world that had carried the Azure Garden was gone, along with its surrounding structures, ships, and the formation that had once distorted time across the entire region. Only faint residual spatial marks remained where the planet had recently occupied the void.
Adrian examined the coordinates again, then extended his perception across the surrounding systems. He had not made an error. This was the same location from which he had departed before following the ring's guidance beyond Virelith.
"They moved the relic planet," Adrian realized.
Before leaving, he and Hestia had already discussed consolidating Origin's scattered operations near the center of the galaxy. The necessary materials for the artifact factories and the first headquarters structures had been secured, while Octaven and Kaelar had selected the region where the headquarters would be established. Once those foundations were ready, the Azure Garden and the inhabited planets under Origin's protection within the Virelith galaxy were meant to be gathered around the same base.
More than a month of external time had passed since Adrian began the journey to Kaalatva. His outward route alone had taken twenty-eight days, and the return had consumed almost another six from the universe's perspective.
With this time, Adrian expected visible progress, but had not expected them to already relocate the Relic planet before he returned.
Before heading toward the center, Adrian activated his source domain and issued a direct command. Aeon's altered face and false mana signature disappeared, restoring his natural features.
Space contracted before Adrian as he crossed the first enormous interval. He emerged several systems deeper into Virelith, adjusted his direction, and folded the void again. The dead outer gulf remained almost completely lightless, its abandoned systems stripped of life during Morka's reign, but distant stars gradually appeared with every transition.
The contrast grew sharper as Adrian approached the central regions. Bright stars filled more of his vision, and some star ships moved around the void. Virelith was still sparse compared to Andromeda, yet it no longer resembled the dead galaxy Adrian had first entered.
He crossed another folded interval and felt his perception brush against something vast.
To ordinary senses, the region ahead appeared unchanged. A handful of stars burned across a wide section of open void, with no planet, station, or artificial signal large enough to attract attention. Adrian's Source Eyes brightened, revealing layered spatial rules woven around the entire region. Concealment, isolation, misdirection, and boundary runes overlapped throughout the void, bending every external scan around what lay within.
Adrian passed through the outer layer, and the hidden headquarters revealed itself.
A colossal formation stretched across the central void. Countless white-grey and pale-golden runes formed enormous circular patterns between the stars, their interlocking pathways extending far beyond the scale of any planetary array. The structure carried the same foundational architecture as the master formation Adrian had created around the Origin Capital in the Milky Way, but it had been adapted to the rules and resources of the wider universe.
The familiar functions became clear as he scanned the formation. The formation linked communications across the headquarters, distributed energy between its worlds, controlled internal travel, and maintained layered offensive and defensive arrays. Every route answered to Origin's authorization system rather than the UNI-OS, allowing the entire region to operate without passing its messages or movements through an outside network.
The temporal shift settled around Adrian the moment he crossed the inner boundary. The surrounding formation maintained the same established ratio as the Azure Garden: one external day for every four subjective years within.
Adrian's gaze lowered toward the center of the formation.
A massive white-grey construct floated there, its layered towers, docks, administrative sectors, and internal platforms resembling a refined version of the Origin Construct he had built in the Milky Way. Seventeen planets orbited around it in flawless synchronization. Some followed paths that should have crossed one another, yet the spatial formation separated their trajectories across folded layers, allowing the worlds to move in compact harmony without ever approaching dangerously close.

Broad ribbons of golden-white light connected the central construct to every planet. Adrian watched a transport vessel enter one current and disappear, only to emerge above another world within the same instant. Energy flowed through adjacent channels in the opposite direction, and distributed wherever the formation detected demand.
"They replicated the same design," Adrian thought.
When he created the Origin Capital, Adrian had personally moved worlds, solved the Mind of the Formation, and etched the master network around the central construct. Even with Aurelia and the others helping him, the entire system had depended upon knowledge and abilities only he possessed at the time. But this one had been built while he was absent.
Adrian floated motionless for several moments as the complete structure turned before him. A quiet pride settled through him as he recognized decisions he had never needed to make, adaptations he had never needed to design, and a headquarters that had continued taking shape without waiting for his return. Origin was no longer advancing only when Adrian personally carried it forward.
He entered one of the golden-white routes, and the network recognized his mana signature and Founder-level authority. The current carried him toward the nearest inhabited world without requiring any manual destination code.
The planet beneath him had once been one of the healthy worlds Adrian and Hestia restored after Virelith's liberation. Cities now spread across its continents, surrounded by cultivated forests, rivers, and agricultural regions protected beneath climate formations. The freed people of Virelith lived alongside populations evacuated from the Korvan and Thessar Empires during the Andromeda supremacy war, their settlements connected through the private Origin Net rather than isolated behind planetary borders.
Another internal current carried Adrian past the relocated relic planet. The Azure Garden remained unmistakable even from orbit, its central tree rising above continents filled with luminous vegetation, and Adrian could still sense the Elyrian Sanctuary anchored safely within its nested space.
Adrian also saw several of the healthy worlds elsewhere in the cluster remained sparsely occupied, leaving the Elyrian rulers room to choose the permanent home he had promised them.
Adrian continued through the cluster. The lush world Octaven and Kaelar had originally selected now supported the growing metropolis intended for Origin's disciples and leadership. Residential towers, training sectors, academies, and transportation hubs were spreading outward from the central region while leaving the surrounding natural environment largely undisturbed.
Most heavy industrial activity had instead been transferred onto nearby lifeless worlds. The arrangement preserved the healthy planets while giving the factories entire continents of empty stone upon which to expand without ecological restrictions.
Adrian shifted into another internal route and descended toward the first major industrial world.
Processing towers and automated refineries stretched across the surface beside sealed reserves of Void Alloy, graviton-reinforced composites, and other materials imported from Andromeda. Raw resources entered the production complexes as ingots, crystal bundles, and reinforced cargo blocks bearing the public seals of the Crimson Vital Sect's Healing Artifacts division.
The visible commercial trail ended with that legitimate Andromedan business, while concealed convoys carried the materials onward to Virelith.
Standardized ring bodies emerged from the other side of the refineries, each one already shaped with crystal sockets.
But within this planet, many other areas were still incomplete. Large districts remained under construction, and Adrian could see automated frameworks expanding across unfinished sectors while sealed convoys unloaded resources that had only recently arrived from Andromeda. The immense temporal advantage inside the headquarters could accelerate construction and production, but it could not force outside suppliers to deliver materials faster than ordinary external time allowed.
That limitation prevented the factories from expanding at the same extraordinary rate as the people working inside them.
Yet that constraint had not stopped production. It had only forced the industrial worlds to come online in stages.
Adrian entered one of the operational complexes and observed thousands of standardized ring bases moving along parallel assembly lines. Inspection formations examined each structure repeatedly, measuring dimensions, material purity, socket stability, and mana conductivity before automatically removing even slightly defective pieces from the production flow.
Beyond a series of sealed partitions, trained inscribers worked in rotating groups.
They etched the willforce-recovery schematic into the prepared rings using ordinary mana ink, completed the required activation structures, and transferred each artifact into another series of verification arrays. Only rings that reproduced the expected effect within established tolerances were permitted to continue into the spatially sealed storage chambers.
Adrian had offered Kaalatva five hundred thousand verified artifacts each UNI-Year because he knew Origin's preparations could support that number. Seeing the production lines confirmed that he had not overestimated his people. The first allocation would not demand that they abandon their public-market strategy or redirect the entire hidden economy toward one customer. Even before every industrial world reached full operation, the capacity taking shape around him was meant for a far larger market.
Adrian continued across the cluster of industrial worlds and found the same division of responsibility repeated throughout them. Some regions focused entirely on material refinement, others produced standardized artifact bodies, while specialized inscription facilities handled the most sensitive stages of construction. Storage worlds and transportation sectors had been separated from active manufacturing, reducing the chance that a failure within one part of the system could disrupt everything else.
As Adrian crossed the surface of another industrial world, two familiar signatures entered his perception. Lysandra and Selena stood within an elevated inspection platform overlooking dozens of active inscription lines. Holographic production records surrounded them, while formations beneath the platform continuously examined the artifacts moving through the halls below.
Adrian descended into this industrial world, towards them, ready to hear what other things had advanced while he was gone.
