Chapter 1211: Stick Insect of the Sacred Night Capital (17)

Fu Qian was more than eighty percent sure that the material of the finger bone before him came from those irritable Small Dolls.

Of course, this didn't mean the experts Garcia hired had been slacking off. It truly possessed no transcendent properties whatsoever anymore.

Even compared to the Doll fragments from back then, the degree to which its contents had been shattered was on a completely different level.

It was akin to a cleansing at the fundamental level—like being violently ground into molecules, fried and roasted a hundred times over, and then smelted back together into a crude, ugly shape.

Now, aside from the fact that it had once possessed transcendent effects, any form of power inside it had ceased to exist, giving off the distinct feel of absolute garbage and Residue.

If one were to actually embed this thing into their body, it would feel fundamentally no different from implanting a large gold tooth.

This was his first time seeing something like this, so the question remained: was it really the key to bringing Midas into reality?

Did it actually possess some alternative special trait that he simply couldn't perceive yet due to the limits of his knowledge?

"Why not touch it?"

A suggestion drifted over from behind him as he pondered. It sounded like a young man, very mild.

Given that he was standing in a heavily guarded casino vault preparing to steal something, this situation was truly quite horrifying.

"May I?"

However, Fu Qian didn't even turn his head.

"Of course not."

The voice behind him continued.

"But you won't be punished for trying."

This person's way of speaking was rather peculiar.

Fu Qian listened very earnestly. The next moment, he actually took the advice and reached out his hand.

His hand was blocked by the black base, yet the White Porcelain Finger Bone embedded on it seemed to exist in another dimension, impossible to touch.

"I really didn't get punished."

Without trying a second time, Fu Qian came to this optimistic conclusion and finally turned around.

......

It was indeed a young man, looking no more than in his thirties. His clothes were meticulous, his slightly long, curly brown hair was soft and glossy, and his face exuded a scholarly air.

Paired with the leather-bound notebook and metal-tipped quill in his hands, he truly looked the part of an old-school scholar.

The only problem was that his left eye socket did not hold an eyeball, but rather a protruding black camera lens.

Looking even closer, the lens clearly extended all the way deep into his skull.

This anachronistic appearance was undoubtedly full of dissonance.

But that was no longer the point. The oppressive pressure radiating under the man's gaze felt far greater than even Emperor Yasui.

Above Tier 1? An ancient Divine Entity?

Wasn't the security level of this vault a bit too high!

"How should I address you?"

Complaining inwardly, Fu Qian offered a greeting.

"Address me?"

Unexpectedly, the latter frowned slightly at this, even flipping through the notebook in his hands.

"Just call me... Levin."

And it looked as though he had ultimately flipped to an answer.

"Alright, excellency Levin, could you tell me why you're doing something so impolite?"

Fu Qian nodded slightly, shamelessly leveling the accusation first.

Obviously, the finger bone being untouchable was this person's doing.

In fact, right before entering the vault, Fu Qian had faintly sensed some incomprehensible change occurring.

This was also why he hadn't immediately reached out for it after opening the Box just now.

"I am only doing my job. Taking things without another's permission is incorrect behavior."

However, the latter explained without the slightest annoyance, observing Fu Qian earnestly at the same time.

Given the Iron Cage on his head, Fu Qian's current appearance was clearly just as bizarre.

"Could you take this off?"

The next moment, Levin pointed directly at his head, not even asking for a name.

"I can, but you need to give me a reason."

Although he had just put it on, its purpose had already been served. Fu Qian didn't mind taking the Head Cage off too much; what he was curious about was the man's goal in making this request.

"Proposing conditions to accept a request, very reasonable."

Levin nodded in agreement. As he spoke, he actually stepped forward and looked down at the finger bone.

"Why are you interested in this kind of Residue?"

The next moment, he reached out his hand with a faint look of confusion.

The finger bone that Fu Qian had been unable to touch just moments ago was snatched right up by him.

"To be honest, I was just wondering the same thing."

Seeing the man actually bring the bone right up to his camera lens to observe it, Fu Qian shook his head, having no thought that swiftness is precious in warfare or taking action to snatch it.

Having recently touched divinity, his perception of certain things had grown increasingly sharp.

The person before him was clearly a quite peculiar, or rather, dangerous existence.

Dangerous enough that even if he used his gains from the Divine Emissary, he might not necessarily be able to seize it by force.

The fact that Blazing Rainbow could actually draw in an existence like this to cause trouble for him truly challenged the imagination.

That's right, the vault's security was nothing but a joke. Fu Qian was fairly certain that Levin's appearance here was due to Blazing Rainbow.

Even though he had no idea how It had managed to do so.

It was truly watertight; Old Man Henry's pursuit had only just ceased.

In fact, Fu Qian had once guessed that after Old Man Henry lost the trail, Blazing Rainbow might go against its original intentions and alert the Night Watchers to cause trouble.

His contingency plan for this was that even if a Tier 1 New God or something similar showed up, he would just break through with direct violence and destroy that finger bone as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately, the character who had shown up this time was truly a bit out of bounds.

......

"I can't see any value in it, within the bounds of my knowledge."

By now Levin had finished his observation, and the result was to uphold the original verdict.

"You take off the cage on your head, finish answering my questions, and then I will give this to you. Is that acceptable?"

The next moment, he looked earnestly at Fu Qian and proposed his suggestion.

"No problem."

Fu Qian instantly accepted the condition.

"Hmm... excellent."

Seeming very satisfied with his reaction, Levin actually opened the notebook in his hands the next moment and held his quill to write in it.

And almost the instant he finished writing, Fu Qian perceived yet another incomprehensible change appearing.

Had this person written the transaction's contents into it, forming something akin to a law?

Fu Qian suddenly seemed to understand a lot more about his inability to touch it earlier.

"Of course, before that, we had best leave this place and end this impolite intrusion."

Having finished writing, Levin thought for a moment and asked.

"What kind of communication venue do you prefer? In this city."

"Miss Moxie's Bar, preferably a seat with a view of the outside."

It didn't even take Fu Qian half a second to provide a precise answer.

Time was incredibly precious right now.

"Very well."

Levin jotted down a few more quick strokes, continuing to write in his notebook.

And by the time he lifted his pen, the two were already situated inside a not-too-bustling bar, sitting close to a small window.

In his line of sight, he could see Miss Moses behind the counter, looking around in utter boredom.

Of course, whether it was her or the other patrons around her, everyone turned a blind eye to the two of them here.

Fu Qian was not surprised by this. After sensing the anomaly just now, he had not deliberately hidden his figure in the vault.

The fact was that he and Levin had stood under surveillance for so long, and yet the outside still had no reaction to the intruders. This person clearly had methods to make people unable to observe them.

"You may ask your questions now."

The next moment, Fu Qian directly took off the Head Cage.

"It is you?"

Yet following this action, the other party was actually taken aback.
