Chapter 1481 - 1522: Not a Fool

"Two more games, just two more games and we’re good." David Walker hurriedly said. Jeremiah May swiftly finished playing two more games, then directly tossed the phone back to David Walker, found a book on his own, and started reading it.

It was unclear how much time had passed when Jeremiah May looked up and realized that David Walker was no longer in the room.

This guy... did he leave on his own? Jeremiah thought, and couldn’t help but stand up and walk out of the room. Just as he reached the living room, he heard David Walker’s voice saying repeatedly, "Come, look over here, give me a smile, smile and I’ll give you candy."

Immediately afterwards, he saw David Walker in the living room teasing a little kid named Jade, while another small boy several years older was standing respectfully to the side, his expression a bit bewildered.

"Hey, Jeremiah, your little one seems pretty interesting, huh? Likes to be held, feels nice to hold, but doesn’t seem to smile no matter how I try," David Walker said.

Jeremiah May couldn’t help but develop a few black lines on his forehead, did this little one just ask to be held by that guy David Walker?

"She’s just a fool, what’s so interesting about that." Jeremiah May said, pouting in displeasure.

"A fool? Is she a fool?" David Walker was stunned. He hadn’t noticed earlier; he only found this little one’s speech a bit stuttered and her gaze somewhat dull at times. But since David Walker hadn’t had much interaction with kids of this age, he had no comparison and thought the little one’s lack of expression and smile was just her pretending to be grown-up.

"My sister is not a fool." 8-year-old Clarence Xenos stood out and said, "She just hit her head, her reactions are somewhat slow, and her speech is not fluent, but she is not a fool!"

Clarence Xenos was definitely the most averse to hearing others call his sister a fool. In his view, his sister wasn’t foolish at all, though some things needed to be explained to her several times for her to understand. But she understood what he said, and whatever he told her to remember, she could remember.

Jeremiah May looked at Clarence Xenos; was this boy the little one’s brother? However, the two didn’t have similar features at all.

"Hit her head?" David Walker was stunned, but noticed the anomaly under the little one’s bangs, so he lifted a slightly thick part of the bangs and immediately saw a frightful scar like a centipede underneath, resembling an unsightly crack on what was once a fine piece of jade. Moreover, the scar appeared to be haphazardly stitched at the time, with uneven suture marks, like flesh forcibly squeezed out in places.

David Walker was just a 12-year-old kid himself, and was startled at the sight of such a frightful scar, causing his grip around the little girl to loosen.

"Ah!" Clarence Xenos cried out, but he was too far, and could only watch in terror as his sister fell from David Walker’s arms, about to hit the ground.

Just then, a figure rushed out and caught the little one before she could hit the ground. Who else could it be but Jeremiah May?

David Walker hurriedly stepped forward and said, "Sorry, sorry, I was too surprised just now, I didn’t hold on properly. Luckily you caught her, Jeremiah." Otherwise, the little one would have fallen again.
