Chapter 50: Chapter 46: How about... coming to my house for dinner tonight?

Liangzi was far away, so he only saw Yu Dong stop Shen Xinyi and exchange a few words before she scanned his phone.

That classic move—it was obviously to add each other on WeChat.

What’s more, the two of them seemed to be getting along great!

’I can’t believe... she’s that easy. If I’d known, I would’ve gone and asked for her number too.’

Liangzi’s heart ached. He felt that if he had made his move earlier, he probably would have already won her over.

But a moment later, he was filled with admiration for Yu Dong.

’College kids are something else... If I learn a thing or two from him, how could I not find a girlfriend?’

Liangzi decided that the next time Yu Dong went to move his things, he would definitely go over to help and learn from him.

He wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed—he’d only scored a 199 on the academic portion of his college entrance exam—but he knew that if you hung around impressive people, you’d become impressive too.

After a brief, polite chat with Shen Xinyi, Yu Dong didn’t overstay his welcome. He waved goodbye and left.

By using the community owners’ group chat as an excuse, he had easily gotten Shen Xinyi’s contact information and made an impression. His objective was accomplished.

Over the next few days, he’d chat with her a little here and there. Then, come Sunday afternoon, it wouldn’t be hard to find an excuse to get her over to Building One.

’As long as you have a decent excuse, getting someone’s contact info is easy.’

Yu Dong’s strategies were working one after another, making him even more confident about surviving the coming apocalypse!

As Shen Xinyi rode the elevator home, she thought about the handsome college student from just now, a faint smile on her face.

From a professional standpoint, she could tell that the college student, Yu Dong, worked out regularly. He had a great physique, was a well-spoken and interesting conversationalist, and his gaze wasn’t lecherous like that security guard’s. There was an air of integrity about him.

’The excuse he used was a little lame, but... at least he wasn’t cringey.’

Who could say no to a handsome young college student?

...

Having quickly secured Shen Xinyi’s contact, Yu Dong continued to wait by the entrance.

By now, Liangzi had handed his shift over to the old security guard.

Seeing Yu Dong still sitting there, he thought this would be a good time to go chat with him and get to know him better.

But Yu Dong’s gaze was already locked onto Liu Ye’ye, dressed in Hanfu with a hairpin in her hair.

Her attire today was exactly the same as in his previous life, so captivating you couldn’t look away.

Liu Ye’ye wasn’t the sexy type like Shen Xinyi, the kind of woman that makes every guy think, ’Wow, she’s hot. I wish she were my girlfriend.’

Liu Ye’ye was a girl with a unique aura. When other people wore historical clothing, it looked like cosplay and elaborate styling. But on her, it was as if she were born to wear it, like a gifted lady who had stepped right out of a painting. A single glance was enough to be memorable for years.

"Welcome home, resident!"

Liangzi shoved the old guard aside and belted out another loud greeting.

Liu Ye’ye glanced at him, a hint of embarrassment on her face, and picked up her pace...

Shoved to one side, Li stared speechlessly at Liangzi.

"If you like being on duty so much, you can stand here a while longer. I need to take a crap."

Liangzi chuckled. "Go on, I’ll cover for you."

In his world, doing a little more or a little less work didn’t matter.

It was just that this residential complex was full of beautiful women. The property manager, Zhao Yun, was already quite a looker, and now there were these two young beauties. It was enough to keep Liangzi in a good mood all day.

He figured that if he had Yu Dong’s shamelessness and skill, maybe he could land one of them too.

Yu Dong had planned to casually stroll over and "accidentally" run into Liu Ye’ye, but she suddenly sped up. He had no choice but to quicken his pace and follow.

Liu Ye’ye threw a subtle glance over her shoulder and started running even faster.

So Yu Dong had to run faster too.

Liu Ye’ye got into the elevator and frantically pressed the close-door button.

Then a pair of large, slightly rough hands pried the doors back open.

Liu Ye’ye: "!!!"

"Hold on, I’m going up too!"

Yu Dong quickly slipped into the elevator.

Liu Ye’ye pressed herself against the elevator wall, putting as much distance as possible between herself and Yu Dong. The atmosphere was instantly incredibly awkward.

After a moment of silence, the elevator arrived at the third floor. Liu Ye’ye didn’t move.

Yu Dong asked, "This is your floor. Aren’t you getting off?"

Liu Ye’ye: "?"

Yu Dong suddenly realized... his behavior was coming across as extremely strange. The atmosphere was getting creepier by the second.

To stop her from thinking he was a complete creep, Yu Dong quickly launched into his prepared speech.

Step one: Shock her with how much he knew about her.

"What I’m about to say might be a bit hard to understand, but please, just hear me out... Liu Ye’ye, I’ve actually known you for a long time. It’s just that the you right now doesn’t know me. I know a lot about you. You’re great at baking. You have a very expensive drone. Your living room and bedroom are both pink. You have a lot of plush toys, including a huge stuffed dog, the kind big enough to cover you completely. You love eating Häagen-Dazs..."

Liu Ye’ye’s eyes widened as she stared at Yu Dong, her expression turning strange.

Yu Dong: "..."

Step two: Try to persuade her with meticulous logic.

"Aren’t you curious how I know so much about you? This is information only someone who’s actually been inside your apartment and gotten close to you could possibly know."

Hearing this, Liu Ye’ye looked at Yu Dong, and her expression grew even stranger.

Sensing the awkward atmosphere, Yu Dong paused for a moment before saying:

"If I told you right now that I’m not some creepy upperclassman who’s been stalking you, but a Reincarnator, and that we were teammates in a past life... would you believe me?"

Yu Dong felt that, when facing Liu Ye’ye, he somehow lacked the composure and skill he’d had with Shen Xinyi.

He had intended to win Liu Ye’ye over with sincerity and logic, but instead, he’d come off as a total creep and completely freaked her out.

Fortunately, he still had one last card to play.

A prophecy!

He had a prophecy that was his last chance to earn her trust. If that failed, his only option would be to forcibly lock her in her apartment on the final day.

’Please, don’t let this have changed!’

"To prove I’m a Reincarnator, I have a—"

"I believe you."

Liu Ye’ye tilted her head. Seeing Yu Dong’s flustered state, she covered her mouth and giggled.

"Huh? You believe me?"

Yu Dong himself was stunned. He couldn’t help but ask, "But why?"

"Because you’re different."

"How am I different? Don’t I seem like that creepy upperclassman from before who stalked you to the apartment complex, faked a chance encounter, and secretly stole your underwear?"

"Huh? What creepy upperclassman? No one’s ever stolen my underwear..."

Yu Dong: "???"

"But you said it yourself! In our past life, you even suspected me... Think about it."

"But that really never happened... I’ve always felt very safe living in this complex. The property manager has always looked out for me."

Liu Ye’ye blinked her big, innocent eyes, looking at Yu Dong guilelessly.

Hmm?

’Did the world change?’

Yu Dong remembered everything from his past life with perfect clarity. He couldn’t be mistaken. Liu Ye’ye had told him herself, with her own mouth.

So why was this Liu Ye’ye denying it?

’Did the Liu Ye’ye from my past life lie, or is the Liu Ye’ye of this life lying?’

Yu Dong didn’t understand.

"Wait, you really believe I’m a Reincarnator?"

"Mmm... I don’t entirely believe you. But for you to say something like that, you must have your reasons. How about... you come to my place for dinner tonight? You can tell me all about being reincarnated. I’d like to hear it."

Liu Ye’ye stepped out of the elevator and looked back, her eyes crinkling into a smile as she extended the invitation to Yu Dong.
