Chapter 99: Plans in the darkness

As Blaze fell asleep teleportation circles started to appear in the labyrinth, devils who were wearing uniforms came through first followed by Sirzechs

"Rias, are you and your peerage ok" he asked with a serious expression

"Yes maou-sama" Rias replied, sitting down on the ground next to Blaze "Koneko and Caspera need treatment for poisoning, Kiba needs medical attention for his leg and Me, Akeno and Blaze are exhausted with Blaze having minor wounds that should be looked at, but none of us are in critical condition"

"Good" Sirzechs commented, his shoulders loosening by a small amount to show that he was relieved that everyone was safe "Grayfia, I entrust that a medical team is prepared?"

"Yes Sirzechs-sama, Rias-sama, do you require assistance?" she asked as she stepped in front of Rias

"I will be fine thank you Grayfia, I wish to rest here for a moment to regain my strength" Rias replied as she moved Blaze to rest her head on her lap "please help everyone else first"

"As you wish" Grayfia curtsied

Xenovia helped Kiba and Akeno, lending a shoulder to both of them and the staff placed Caspera and Koneko on stretchers and hooked them up to IV's as Rias gently stroked Blaze's hair, gratefull for all that she had done, unaware of a small lizard with a camera that disappeared into the darkness

"So, how did your experiment turn out" asked a man leaning against a lab table

"For a test subject, it performed admirably" Varyn commented, switching off the feed to his tablet "although I am unsatisfied that I was unable to see the results of my second experiment, but it is within my expectations"

"Please tell me that we're not going to have to work with creatures like that?" asked a female voice "I may like beauty and the beast stories but that is going a bit far"

"As I stated this was but a experiment, my future creations will be much stronger, and if I feel like it may benefit them in combat I may improve upon their designs, making the power more concentrated so that it can be contained in the human body without it affecting their physique is one of the areas that I am aiming to improve on" Varyn explained

"I must say, seeing how that shadow creature was able to be used in order to move you between shadows has inspired me to use my powers in new ways" stated another man wearing glasses "and having the chance to work with a scientist like yourself who has devil powers will allow me to further improve upon my magic repertoire"

"Indeed, working with an intellectual like yourself who specialises in a different field is something I look forward to Georg" Varyn smiled

"Hey, can you show me more of those chimeras that you made and the details of the creatures from the underworld?" asked a younger boy "they give me so much inspiration on what kind of monsters that I should create next"

"Of course, but in exchange I will require your monsters to test the limits of what my creatures can do Leonardo" Varyn replied "by the way, there seem to be some members missing, where are they?"

"The big brute seems to have left to go somewhere" answered the woman "something about gathering soldiers worthy of his position by re-enacting one of his ancestors trials, something about strong women who lost to his ancestor and as such they should submit to him or something like that"

"As Jeanne said Heracles is not here" Georg concurred "As for Siegfried he seems to be in the training room, it seems like he's trying to improve his control over Gram" Georg continued

"Hrm, most unfortunate that I cannot meet them, but if that is how it is that is how it is, I am not going to go out of my way wasting my time waiting to introduce myself to people who couldn't be bothered to show themselves when there is some much more work that could be done" Varyn shrugged "if you need me I will be in my lab going over the date I have obtained, I look forward to working with you Cao Cao"

The young man smiled "I look forward to working with you too" the spear next to him softly glowing with a divine light.
