Chapter 98: Full power strike

Due to the knowledge that Akeno had a plan to be able to defeat the chimera, Blaze was able to focus on the fight more easily, not worrying about trying to figure out how to kill the beast in front of her and instead relying on her companions and instead just focusing on dealing as much damage as she could

"Blaze, it seems to be changing its fighting style" Rias pointed out, the beast switching from using the multiple venomous serpents to try and poison her and instead using wind blades, shooting spines and breathing fire on her to attack from a distance

"It seems that not only does it have all of the animals abilities, but it must also have their instincts as well" Blaze frowned, using her gauntlets to block the physical attacks and doing her best to avoid the wind blades and flames, her skin starting to get covered cuts and burns

During this time Rias was also under assault, although Blaze did her best to block the physical attacks some of the magical attacks that she was unable to block or that she had to dodge went straight for Rias, with her having to put up barriers or use her power of destruction to take out the attacks, causing her to burn through her magical reserves due to also enhancing Blaze's power

"Rias, I can manage without your support, focus on covering yourself" Blaze called out to her, seeing the strain on her face as sweat started to form on her forehead

"No" denied Rias "without my support you wouldn't be able to deal with the attacks and it would add physical attacks again making it even more difficult for you to hold it off, meaning we would both end up having to deal with more attacks" she said seriously before joking "plus thanks to a certain someone, my magic reserves are much larger than they would be"

"Can you not joke about that in this situation" Blaze blushed, her embarrassment causing her to fight harder

"By magic reserves does she mean her boobs?" Herm commented in a joking tone

"Really not the time, both of you" Blaze complained, striking at the beast who moved a turtles shell to the point of impact, but a combination of embarrassment from Rias's words and annoyance at Herm's words caused her to be able to shatter the shell

After the strike Blaze heard a small explosion behind them "Blaze, that was the signal" Rias called out "lets go" unfurling her wings and flying towards the target spot

"Right behind you" Blaze replied, striking at a bulls head that the chimera was thrusting at it, using the impact to deal some damage and push herself backwards towards the target, causing the chimera to let out a series of roars as it chased after them

Arriving at the target Rias and Blaze passed a corner where they saw what Akeno and Kiba had been cooking up

"What the fuck is that?" Blaze blurted out as she continued to run, seeing a U shaped construction made of swords with Akeno standing ready on one of the ends, emitting large amounts of electrical magic power and Xenovia standing ready, holding Durandel in the center of the U

"No time to explain" Kiba shouted "just get out of the way" he ordered "ready Akeno?"

"Ready" Akeno responded

"Durandel rail cannon" Xenovia exclaimed, holding Durandel in position as the beast emerged from the corner, still chasing after Rias and Blaze, finally stepping into the target area "fire!"

With her shout Xenovia let go of Durandel as Akeno channelled all of her magic into the contraption, the lightning surging down one side of the U then back up the other, creating a magnetic field which launched Durandel at hypersonic speeds

The chimera seemed to understand what was happening and tried to fortify its defences in the split second that it had but it was useless, the destructive power of the railgun combined with the holy aura of Durandel ripped through its body like paper, the body parts that were detached from the main body turning to dust as Durandel continued forth, hitting the wall behind it with such force that it cracked and even threatened to fall down due to the impact

The shockwaves from the railgun blasted outwards, with Blaze barely managing to grab Rias out of the air and protect her with her own body as the blast ripped through the entire labyrinth, Blaze's body hitting a far wall and bouncing off of it like a muscular ball

"I hate to jinx it, but did we do it?" groaned Blaze as she released Rias who was knocked out by the blast wave

Looking over Blaze was able to see the monster falling to pieces, seemingly implying that they had

"Phew, I was worried that..." Blaze began before noticing something in the ashes, a small pulsing orb "How?" she blurted out in shock

"Leave it to me" Xenovia called out, already running towards Durandel that was stuck in the wall, grabbing the blade and unleashing a slash of holy energy at the ball

The slash charged towards the ball, only for it to be completely absorbed

"That's impossible" Xenovia gasped in shock

After absorbing the slash the orb seemed to start pulsing faster before a voice called out

"Very impressive, you managed to take Aremic down"

"Varyn, where are you" Xenovia shouted

"There is no point in looking for me or asking me questions" his voice continued "this is nothing more than a pre-recorded message that I had set in case you managed to somehow defeat my experiment, what you see here is another experiment that I had prepared just in case, a bomb that absorbs energy created from a variety of creatures with self defence mechanisms, the more you try to damage it, the more powerful it becomes, it has been absorbing all of your attacks during your fight meaning that I can only imagine that it must have become quite powerful at this point, and by combining it with a multitude of creatures with strong defensive abilities I have made sure that it is nigh indestructible, now if you had a maou such as Sirzech it would be possible to overwhelm its defences, but given the state that I left things in, that will not be possible, but don't take my word for it, please continue to attack, and I do hope you will, I want to get as much data as possible on how big an explosion it will cause"

"Crap, what do we do?" Blaze frowned, turning to Kiba and Akeno "do you think you could hit it again, try and overpower it?"

"That won't work" Akeno responded while breathing heavily "that took everything I had to produce that one shot

"Plus the railgun essentially destroyed itself when we fired it" Kiba continued, walking over to Blaze using a sword that he had created as a crutch "and by how that orb is pulsing I don't think we have enough time to create another one or for Akeno to restore her magic to be able to fire another shot in time

"What happened over here?" Caspera asked as she helped Koneko over to the area, both of their faces white with exhaustion

"Caspera, Koneko, how are both of you?" Xenovia asked

"Not in the best condition" Caspera responded "I've had quite a few bats that I could transform into in bad condition due to light poisoning, and Koneko used up a lot of ki to hold back the poison while I got it out of her system, but we'll live"

"What's that?" Koneko questioned

"Long story short, a bomb" Blaze answered "Caspera, I hate to ask you this while you're not in good condition but could you use your forbidden Balour view on it to try and buy us some time"

"I'll do my best" Caspera nodded, passing Koneko to Akeno before focusing on the orb, activating her sacred gear, freezing it in place "I can't keep this up for long" she explained, the strain already showing on her face

"Herm, do you think climax cannon would work on this thing?" Blaze inquired

"Most likely not" Herm replied in a serious tone, showing the dire situation they were in "it would most likely absorb it all as the power is more of a stream, what we need is one full powered strike directly to the very center, no power leakage at all, fortunately you can do just that"

"How?" Blaze pressed Herm to explain further

"As with most of my powers the climax cannon comes with a counterpart, the climax cannon is a long range magical attack, useful for taking out multiple far away targets with its power also able to be used if focused on a single target, like with how you defeated Vali, on the other end you have a extreme close quarters attack, a single strike that focuses every last drop of your power into a single point, if the climax cannon is the epitome of firepower, this would be the epitome of martial arts"

"So what do I do?" Blaze asked

"Stand close to the orb and draw every last drop of your power into your fist" Herm explained "focus on what it is that you want to destroy and hit it, transfer every last drop of power in the single moment of impact and don't let a single drop of it flow outwards, focus on the very core of the orb"

"Got it" Blaze nodded, taking a stance to strike the orb

"This will take every last bit of energy out of you, meaning after this shot you will pass out instantly, and there will be other side effects like there was with the climax cannon" Herm explained

"As much as I don't like the idea of that we have no choice" Blaze replied, determined to do this

"If you're going to do this" a groggy voice added from the side

"Rias" Blaze noted, seeing her push herself off the wall

"At least let me assist you as much as I can" the moon reappearing behind her, it taking on the phase of a waxing crescent "attack power increase, give it all you've got" Rias cheered lightly, before the last of her magic finally ran out and she leant against the wall to remain standing

"Thanks" Blaze smiled, before turning to the orb, her full focus on her target

"I can't hold on much longer" groaned Caspera, her eyes bloodshot from staying open and the strain that she was putting on her body

"Let it go" Blaze shouted, her fist striking forth as Caspera closed her eyes and fell to the floor exhausted

As Blaze's fist made contact with the orb she unleashed every last drop of energy that she could muster into the orb, focusing on the exact center of the orb where the power was building

There was no explosion, no impact, no shockwave, on a quiet crack as the orb shattered, falling to the floor in glass like shards

"A excellent attack" Herm complimented "you performed the g-spot impact perfectly"

"I fucking knew it would have a stupid name like that" Blaze complained as she fell to the ground, her eyes closing due to exhaustion but a smile on her face due to knowing that she had succeeded.
