Chapter 1033: Chapter 1033: Dungeon core biology (2)

"Why or how are we different father?" His irritation deflated from hearing an actual explanation from the old man Frost inquisitively asked, keen to learn more about his own biology, perhaps it could prove useful when he and Daki start trying for a child.

"Is it because we’re Godlings and therefore have no inherent flaws?" Posed Agar, thinking that simply by the fact they were related to Dark that unlike the average mortal species they were in fact perfect....a rather naive and arrogant outlook that Dark was quick to dismiss.

"Pffft there’s no such thing as perfection in this world Agar not even I can claim such a thing let alone you." Dark knew for a damn fact he was far from perfect in fact he was one of the most imperfect beings in existence.

"No, being a Godling does not excuse you from this rule of existence, while it may weaken such flaws it does not truly eliminate them. Whether it is by the second or the third generation such flaws will eventually reveal themselves. And only by once again expanding the gene pool or having the affected descendant reach at least B-rank – a task that ultimately becomes harder the more defects they accrue- can naturalisation be restored. But as I said this isn’t the case for you lot and the reason for that is because technically on a genetic level you have no correlation with each other."

By this point Dark was occasionally biting his tongue struggling to put the thoughts in his head into words that could be best understood.

"No correlation? So we’re not siblings." This was Frost’s initial understanding.

"...Yes and no....haaaa how do I put this. In terms of your genes each of you are completely unique, other than the shared ability to store a core and establish a pseudo realm that is a Dungeon you couldn’t be more different from one another. I mean take the physical manifestation of you and Agar for example, do you look anything alike, do you share any traits or elemental affinity?"

The two ’siblings’ looked at each other, Dark was correct no one in their right mind would ever think that an elf like being like Frost and a skeletal lich like Agar could be related yet despite the shocking disparity between the two of them Frost and Agar could still sense a connection, a connection that went beyond mere appearances.

"No but I know he’s my brother; I can sense our bond." After looking Agar up and down and using both his eyes and even his aura sense to the fullest Frost answered, no doubt in his mind that the man displayed before him was his kin. Their bond went beyond mere appearances, something Agar was quick to agree to, nodding his head in support.

Hearing what his son said despite what he’d just been told Dark couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear, an expression full of love and appreciation donning his handsome face.

"Correct, there is a bond and a strong one too. Agar is your brother but it’s not by blood or by genetics but something far deeper, far more integral to the miracle we call life....it’s a connection of the soul my son."

"The soul." Frost parroted back with a thoughtful look on his face.

Even as a mid-stage B-rank entity what Frost knew of the soul was very little, only that every living being had one and that the strength and manifestation of one’s aura stems from their soul. Invisible and immaterial yet somehow able to influence the material to such a vast degree. A topic that even the most hallowed of scholars cannot fully comprehend.

"Yes Frost, the soul. When I created you and your siblings I split apart of my own soul to give you life and thus established an undeniable bond between us as well as between you and your siblings. We are father and son and you and Agar are brothers, a fact that not even the primordial chaos can deny." Overwhelmed by fatherly emotions Dark’s holographic image stepped beyond the screen, his hand materialising in real space just to affectionately rub his son’s head.

"So Frost....there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t fuck your sister." That fatherly air quickly transitioned into something mischievous, his lips forming a dastardly smirk.

The young Dungeon core as if surprised by his antics despite knowing him for so long felt a heat form within his chest, his hands balled up into tight fists and with a savage look in his eyes he pushed his father away and roared defiantly.

"Not happening!"

Frost loved his sister, quite dearly in fact but even the mere thought of that obsessive look in her eyes sent shivers down his spine. He wasn’t ready to explore such a world with her....at least not yet.

"Hahahaha your resistance against the inevitable is adorable Frost." Dark loosed a chuckle equating Frost’s fury and fierce resistance to that of a child’s tantrum. He knew his daughter well, if she wanted something then she’d move heaven and earth to get it, letting nothing stand in her way. Frost may fight back, deny her and resist her advances but eventually he would succumb of this he was certain.

"Shut the fuck up old man!!" Abject terror flowed through Frost’s veins as if the spectre of death had wrapped its chilling claws around him or worse yet Aqua. With his old man’s blessing that desperate, thirsty woman would hound him like a starving dog, placing his innocence in jeopardy.

Agar silently watched from the side, his expression being that of someone enjoying another’s misery. He had completely forgotten about his own predicament and how they were supposed to be coming up with answers on how to fix it.

’Fuck how did the situation even devolve into this?’ Frost internally questioned, placing his hands on either side of his head and aggressively shaking it trying to rid himself of his fears and get back on track.

"We’ve gotten off track; we’re supposed to be finding an additional sibling to help out Agar and for obvious reasons Aqua does not fit that bill so... moving on!" Forget and move on, he didn’t have the patience nor the mental strength to deal with the quagmire that was his sister’s feelings right now.

"If you say so." Dark couldn’t help but continue his teasing, knowing he had at least one more line in the chamber before Frost well and truly blows his top.

"I do fucking saying so! Moving on!" After saying this he fiercely stared at his father, daring him to say something but the man wisely kept mum, Agar also didn’t dare draw his brother’s ire, not when he was desperately relying on his help.

"Our next option would be Pyro but for even more obvious reasons that’s a big no."

"You and Pyro really don’t get along do you?" Said Agar finding it strange how such deep seated animosity could have accumulated over the span of less than two years.

"No we do not, we are literally fire and ice so next." Out of all their siblings there is no one he wanted to punch in the face more than Pyro.

"That would be Sylph or Terra." They were merely going down the list in order of conception which bar a few exceptions wasn’t all that different to their strength rankings.

"Terra’s a bit of a pacifist, fighting only when necessary so while he has the strength I don’t really want to force him to do something he’s uncomfortable with." Unlike Agar, Frost actually had a fairly decent connection with most of the higher ranked cores. His own single digit status giving him natural access to the high ranking club.

"While Sylph....well she’s an arrogant, insufferable noble bitch and that’s me putting it nicely." His fourth sister was a headache, someone who’s company he found to be more of a pain than a comfort.

"Oi while my baby girl is a little arrogant and stuck up she’s not a bitch, take it back Frost." Dark ever biased towards his daughters promptly rose to her defence.

"No it’s a well deserved comment father and you damn well know it."

"Hmph she’s just abrasive because of jealously, towards you in particular. Terra doesn’t have any problems with her." He quickly mumbled doubling down in his defence knowing exactly why Frost perceived Sylph as he elegantly put it as an arrogant insufferable noble bitch.

You see Sylph despite what she often and loudly harps has a fondness for Aqua, placing her elder sister on a pedestal and is therefore not all that fond of the fact that Frost steals away her attention thus she tends to rebel and lash out, generally towards him. But since it wasn’t his place to shine a light on all of his children’s relationships he set the topic aside, moving onto the next candidate.

"If both Terra and Sylph are out next would be Indra." Now they were getting somewhere.

Not only was Indra notoriously strong, rising beyond his age ranking during the previous family gatherings he actually had a good relationship with Frost, in fact there wasn’t a single sibling he could be considered closer to than Indra.

"Indra huh, that could work." Not only did they have experience fighting each other their elements would work well in tandem, covering a lot of bases.

"Agar are you alright with me inviting Indra over?" Since Agar was going to be the host he needed to get his approval before going further. Perhaps Agar and Indra were at loggerheads like he and Pyro were.

"Sure, I’ve got no problem with Indra in fact I’ve been wanting to establish a closer relationship with him ever since I learned of his friendship with you." Agar didn’t have enemies only a lack in strong connections. Perhaps this incident would serve as the foundation to a long and healthy friendship between brothers.
