Chapter 1032: Chapter 1032: Dungeon core biology

"Not exactly but in a way....yes." Dark answered his seventh son’s query in a way that revealed little in the way of answers, rather it created more questions.

"What does that mean?" Frost pressed, his heart skipping a beat. Was his father actually willing to relent despite running the risk of antagonizing his Godly peers.

Before explaining Dark glanced at the confused Agar, he too was unaware of his sudden change in heart.

"Agar with Frost alone the two of you will have to endure an uphill battle, your chances heavily reliant on the unearthed potential of both Frost and his forces. However if you’re willing to expand your offer of reward and if Frost is willing to share the bounty then perhaps I have a solution that would increase your chances of victory."

"....." Agar silently stared at his father, his lower jaw hanging agape as his mind clashed rather fiercely against the idea of prying more money from his coffers but at the same time he deeply understood the disaster that currently beset him. Frost albeit offering a semblance of reassurance he was not enough to dispel his fears entirely.

Ten monsters was a rather small number after all.

"As long as you still deem it reasonable then I don’t see why not. It’s not as if I’ll be able to use my riches if I’m dead." The latter half of his statement was whispered, mumbled under his breath but still loud enough for both Dark and Frost to make the gist. Which caused them both to feel a heavy weight upon their hearts, further highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

"If Agar’s in agreement then so am I. Wealth cannot possibly be compared to that of my younger brother’s life." Payment was needed yes as all effort should be fairly rewarded, but excess was merely a matter of greed. If reducing his quota could make the upcoming battle easier then Frost was more than willing to do so.

"So, what’s your plan old man?"

"Simple, while I can’t in good faith increase your allotment of forces, Agar has more than one sibling, perhaps another wishes to offer him their aid." A shrewd smile donned Dark’s lips as he announced his suggestion.

While Frost’s allotment would remain as it was, his effective force could be doubled with the addition of another Dungeon core. The question however would be who? Who would be willing to take such a risk? To jeopardise their lives for Agar and a small degree of riches.

Frost himself was willing to help mainly because of his personal relationship with him but as far as he was aware Agar wasn’t all that close with anyone as remotely powerful as himself. His allies of which there were few sitting between positions 70 and 90 within the family.

Yami would usually be his go to, the eminent protector and leader of the Dungeon cores situated on the central continent, but he too was under siege possibly by an even greater force.

"Agar is there anyone you can think of?" Frost asked his younger brother, perhaps he had a secret relationship with one of the single or double digit cores that he was unaware of.

"No, well yes there is but their strength pales in comparison to both you and myself. I doubt their forces would be of much help even if they did agree to take part." Agar shook his head and shrugged his shoulders. Other than Yami and Frost he had very little connection with those in the upper ranks.

Agar’s inability to name a potential ally threw a spanner in the works, possibly making Dark’s efforts to expand the scope of those involved moot.

"I can help you contact your more powerful siblings, but I doubt they’d be as easily convinced as Frost." Without that personal connection and given the risks involved Agar would likely have to cut off an arm or a leg to ensure their cooperation and to a far lesser degree as well.

"Haaaaa I should have schmoozed my way through the upper rankings when I had the chance." Agar deeply sighed, regretting his less than fervent attempts to acquaint himself with the more powerful Dungeon cores.

"Aqua would be your best bet given that her ability is only eclipsed by Yami, but her forces would likely suffer in your environment plus I know for a fact that’s she’s in the middle of her own issues right now. Not as perilous as your situation but enough to warrant her full and personal attention." After saying this Dark turned to face Frost, a strange schadenfreude like glint flashing in his eyes.

"But given that you’re involved she’ll likely be more than happy to drop everything else and lend Agar her full support. Her payment however would likely involve something other than DP and preferably from you rather than Agar." It was not lost on Dark that his eldest daughter had an unusual fascination towards her seventh brother, an obsession that was unique to him and him alone.

Frost was also keenly aware of his big sister’s interest in him. A cold shiver ran down his spine as he remembered her disregard for personal space and that unnerving look in her eyes whenever she gazed in his direction. It wasn’t something as simple as love, lust or even desire but something far more chaotic.

If he let his guard down he could very easily find himself imprisoned by her, locked away for her sole enjoyment at least that’s what his instincts frequently screamed.

"While we’re on that subject can’t you do something about her, I’ve had to block her number because she’s constantly trying to call me." Unlike Agar, Indra, Wilsander and several others Aqua was the only sibling he actively blocked, her calls were borderline stalker thus despite the hundreds of missed calls he never picked up, allowing only one way communication.

"Why on Nova would I do that Frost. Aqua’s love for you is adorable, if anything I should chastise you for pushing her away without the slightest remorse." Dark playfully glared somehow turning the problem back on Frost.

"Adorable? She’s a friggin stalker out to possess me. If I didn’t push her away she would have raped me by now." Frost was up in arms, Dark’s nonchalant dismissal of his genuine fears striking a nerve.

"Rape? That’s a bit of an exaggeration don’t you think son?" The word seemed to breach through his casual demeanour causing his upper lip to twitch, the word had such unruly connotations after all, hardly appropriate for his baby girl.

"Father if given the chance that perverted sister of mine would tie me up, shuttle me off to God knows where and syphon my genes until she’s pregnant a dozen times over." This was not an exaggeration either as more than a few times Aqua ’playfully’ suggested how beautiful their kids would be and the fact that she wanted an infinite amount of them.

".....Haaaaa that’s because you recoil in fear whenever you’re with her son, as long as you sleep with her proper like you do with that fetching Maya and Daki I’m sure she’d be more than happy to let you live your life however you damn well please." Dark finally went and said it. Instead of putting a stop to his eldest daughter’s romantic advances towards her younger brother he fully endorsed it and instead blamed Frost for rejecting her.

"You! I’m not going to fuck my sister!" Frost screeched, his body instinctually taking up a battle pose despite being confronted by mere holograms. If his father was here in person however he’d be slapping the shit out of him for what he just suggested.

"Well I think it’s more likely she’d be fucking you, but might I ask why? Aqua’s incredibly beautiful, her physique is no less curvaceous than that of your current lovers and her feelings are quite genuine I assure you." Dark responded as if he was genuinely confused by the matter at hand. His eldest daughter was such a catch so why wasn’t Frost attracted to her.

"She’s my sister!" Frost loudly stated. An obvious reason in his mind to deny such affairs but for some reason Dark was unperturbed.

"Huh? Why does that matter." He argued as if baffled by the notion.

"".....It doesn’t?"" Said both Agar and Frost at the same time, their minds sufficiently rattled by their father’s words.

Dark first sighed before explaining the dynamics of his children as well as the slightly incorrect notions of the world at large.

"Haaaaa while it may be seen as unusual and even detrimental amongst the vast majority of mortals, that stops being the case once the individuals or at least one of them reaches B-rank. When one can harness aura their innate disposition goes through a small but very meaningful change. Their genetics go through a state of refinement thus eliminating several detriments, weaknesses and flaws in their base make-up, flaws that would be exacerbated if passed onto the next generation before such refinement. It’s why those at B-rank can live longer and are less prone to sickness and disease at least the more common varieties." Such things were known, proven and well documented but since it didn’t apply to the vast majority of people given their low average strength, it was more normal to avoid incestuous relationships.

"However when it comes to you lot such things are completely non-existent, even if you don’t manage to reach B-rank there will be no detriments to speak of. In fact now that I think about it I might even promote such unions in the future as the resulting offspring could possibly surpass their parents...hmm." Dark who initially just wanted to see his eldest daughter’s desires made manifest now genuinely thought about other potential pairings among his children, curious to see what sort of grand children would be ushered into the world because of such relationships.

Frost and Agar upon hearing this bombastic truth were both shocked and to be honest a little intrigued. Their own conception and their species as a whole was still a bit of a mystery so any snippet of knowledge about them easily stoked their curiosity.
