Dragon Genesis: I Can Create Dragons

Chapter 628: The Change.

Chapter 628: The Change.

As the bodies piled up, everything changed.

At first, the Alliance soldiers only saw it as a good thing, it motivated them, it motivated others around them, it told them how they could win, it helped them deal with their fear.

The enemy was strange, their smiles were terrifying, their dead bodies however, were not.

Or at least...

That was what the Alliance Soldiers initially thought.

However, as the dead bodies began to stack, one corpse falling on another, then the third falling right beside them, this mess continued until the ground near the shield line was no longer just snow and blood.

It was... flesh.

Like a bridge.

And the enemies, in their thirst for blood, began using that bridge.

They started climbing onto the heap of bodies, stepping on their own people, their faces, their shields, even their wounds, without any care.

Then—

They jumped.

High enough that the vines couldn’t reach them and the shield lines couldn’t stop them, then they landed inside the Alliance formation and the instant they did—

The carnage started.

"DOWN!"

A Velmourn soldier screamed, but it was too late.

SLICE

The enemy’s axe came down and split a man’s shoulder.

Spurt

Blood sprayed all over the place and as if that already wasn’t enough. The second wave of enemies jumped through, then the third, and more.

The shield line that had been holding on all this while, the line that the Alliance Army was doing everything in their power to support—

It no longer mattered anymore.

The enemies no longer had to break it.

They could just... jump over it.

And once they were inside, this wasn’t even a battle anymore. The enemy fought like starving beasts, they pounced on the Alliance soldiers, smashed their heads with the enemies, they grabbed Alliance soldiers’ spears, pulled them out of their hands.

Heck, they even started biting if that was what they needed to do to inflict pain and see blood.

The worst part?

They didn’t even scream, there were no cheers, there were no battle roars, they just pounced without as much as a second of hesitation.

And the Alliance Soldiers...

They panicked.

These people were told to push, that was what the leaders had prepared them for, to continue stabbing their spears through the shield lines.

But...

A head-on clash?

That was an entirely different thing.

Not only were the enemy stronger than them since most of these tribes actively participated in multiple battles, even if it was against each other.

They didn’t feel fear or experience pain either.

They just... hunted.

Even if it meant losing their own lives in return.

"DO NOT PANIC! WE KILLED THEM BEFORE!! WE CAN KILL THEM AGAIN!!"

One of the Velmourn Soldiers screamed, it was the same boy who Morvain had saved a few moments ago, the same boy who panicked before.

Now, he was different.

Now he was taking the lead.

"KILL THE—"

He roared but then—

SLICE

"AAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!"

His arm was chopped off.

He turned around, trying to look for the enemy who did it, but it didn’t matter. Another had already pounced towards him.

Lavinia’s vines did appear, they tried to make the enemy fall and the charging enemy did fall, right on top of the boy and the fall didn’t stop him.

In fact, it only made it worse as the frenzied man bit the boy’s ear and tore it off.

"AAAAGGGGGHHH!!!!!!

NO!! NO!!!"

The boy screamed in agony, but the enemy couldn’t hear him. The enemy only cared about blood and continued biting his skin off.

And with one arm already chopped off, the other buried under the enemy’s body, he couldn’t push him away even if he wanted to—

The boy was helpless.

He could only scream and—

"KILL MEE!!!!"

He begged to be killed.

It was far better to die than be in the situation he was in.

The rest of the soldiers who saw it were even more horrified, some of them thought about ending the boy’s life, putting an end to his misery, but none of them had the luxury to do something.

Not when more and more enemies were pouring in without stop.

The Alliance side was a mess, even as they tried to put up some resistance, even as the spearmen turned around to stab, they couldn’t stab cleanly. Their own allies were in the way, their own bodies pressed tight in the formation, leaving no room to swing.

A Stonefang warrior roared and tackled an enemy off a pile, both rolling into the snow, but another enemy jumped over them, landed on his back and started biting his ear.

Another enemy swung his axe, cutting down both the Stonefang and the one trying to bite his ear off.

Yes, the enemy were even killing their own if they had to.

"ENTER FORMATION TWO!!"

A Velmourn soldier commanded.

Formation Two wasn’t a formation they had trained with other tribes, it was a Velmourn Formation that only Velmourns knew, but—

Enough Velmourn soldiers couldn’t gather, not in a situation this messy where the enemy could come from anywhere.

The Velmourn Soldier could only continue shouting until an enemy dashed at him, they fought, their weapons clashed, with Lavinia’s vines’ help, the Velmourn soldier did manage to take the enemy down but two more bloody enemies jumped at them—

Their blood entered his eyes, taking away his ability to see.

Then, he was killed, his body was cut into two.

This was the true nightmare.

The Alliance people couldn’t win.

Not when the enemy overpowered and outnumbered them to this extent. Even Lavinia’s vines weren’t helping.

After all, she had already used her vines on the battlefield ahead of the shield lines, she wasn’t expecting... this.

At least... not this quickly.

Honestly—

She was hoping that by the time enough bodies piled up to make her vines ineffective, Kael would be back.

But that wasn’t the case.

Kael still wasn’t here.

And just as Lavinia thought about it, just when she was missing him the most—

"RRROOOOAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRR!!!!"

A loud roar that momentarily froze the enemy was heard.
