Chapter 285: Chapter 285: Hei Xue — Consumed by Flames

Qian Renxue stood rooted to the spot, biting her lip as tears fell silently. Her vision blurred through the tears, yet she did not move.

Suddenly, a burst of golden light erupted.

The entire Angel Temple transformed into a dazzling orb of golden radiance, shining as brilliantly as the sun itself.

That light engulfed Qian Renxue’s body as well.

Qian Renxue felt a warm, boundless power surging in from every direction, enveloping her completely. She closed her eyes, allowing that power to flow freely into her body.

The gray statue of the Angel God standing before her had, in that instant, turned entirely golden. It spread its arms wide, embracing Qian Renxue tightly—much like a benevolent father holding his own child.

The very next moment, Qian Renxue felt something merge into her being. On her forehead, the mark of the Angel God’s Trial shone with dazzling brilliance, as massive waves of energy surged and erupted continuously.

A majestic voice rang out from all directions:

"The Angel Descends!"

At that instant, all the golden light within the Angel Temple solidified completely, coalescing into a massive golden cocoon that encased Qian Renxue entirely.

Inside the cocoon, Qian Renxue kept her eyes closed, surrendering herself to the divine power as it reshaped her body.

Behind her, her three pairs of wings—six in total—turned a pure, radiant gold. Fully unfurled, every single feather on them shimmered with a sacred golden light.

Her long golden hair billowed out behind her.

Her aura began to skyrocket with frenzied intensity.

...

Just then, a shadowy figure materialized out of thin air within the Angel Temple.

Hei Xue.

She wore a long black gown, exuding an aura that was both bewitching and languid.

Behind her, three pairs of black wings fluttered gently, radiating an aura starkly different from Qian Renxue’s.

It was the essence of Darkness—of Retribution, and of the inverse side of Judgment.

Upon her forehead, she, too, bore the mark of the Angel God’s Trial; yet hers was black—as deep and unfathomable as the abyss itself.

Sensing her presence, Qian Renxue opened her eyes. Upon seeing Hei Xue, she froze in momentary astonishment.

"You... why are you still out here?"

Hei Xue was the dark doppelgänger she had manifested during her Divine Trials. By all logic, once the trials concluded, Hei Xue should have vanished, returning to merge with her true self. Yet, here Hei Xue remained.

Hei Xue offered a faint smile—a smile both bewitching and seductive.

"Does Sister truly wish not to see me?"

Qian Renxue frowned slightly: "You shouldn’t be here anymore. Your mission is complete."

Hei Xue shook her head and walked slowly toward Qian Renxue. Her steps were light and airy, as if she were treading upon clouds.

"I don’t think so—not yet, anyway. Sister~"

Qian Renxue watched her, her eyes filled with wariness: "What do you mean?"

Hei Xue walked up behind Qian Renxue and gently embraced her from behind. She rested her chin upon Qian Renxue’s shoulder, her long, silvery-white hair intertwining with strands of gold.

"Sister, did you know? The radiance of an angel is incomplete without its darkness."

Qian Renxue’s body trembled ever so slightly.

Hei Xue’s hands glided down from Qian Renxue’s waist to gently caress her arms. The gesture was tender and intimate—the kind of touch shared between lovers.

"Light represents Judgment; Darkness represents Retribution," Hei Xue whispered, her voice echoing softly in Qian Renxue’s ear.

"This constitutes the other half of a complete angel’s divinity. Sister, without me, you will remain forever incomplete."

Qian Renxue fell silent.

She knew that Hei Xue was right. She had once yearned for a pure, sanctified Light—a radiance untainted by even the faintest trace of darkness.

But ultimately, she was still human. And where there is human Light, there is also Darkness. Where there is kindness, there are malicious thoughts. Where there is love, there is hatred.

She could not deny it.

"Sister, accept me," Hei Xue’s voice grew softer still. "Accept me, and only then will you become a true Angel."

Her form began to dematerialize, dissolving into a myriad of tiny black starlight motes. These motes—bearing within them the complete Divine Core of the Dark Angel—surged directly toward Qian Renxue’s Divine Soul, merging with her Angelic Divinity.

In that instant, the ultimate Holy Light and the dark-gold shadows clashed not in the slightest; instead, like the twin fish of the Yin-Yang symbol, they blended together in perfect harmony.

Within the fusion of light and darkness, Qian Renxue’s divine soul attained absolute perfection. She embraced her entire past and her dual nature, no longer clinging to the pursuit of absolute, pure light, nor rejecting the darkness.

Light governs redemption and guardianship.

Darkness governs retribution and reckoning.

Light and darkness share a common origin; they are symbiotic and coexist.

This is the true, complete divinity of an Angel.

...

The golden radiance and the shadowy darkness receded simultaneously.

The Angelic Temple returned to a state of tranquility.

Qian Renxue stood before the divine statue; the six wings spreading behind her were no longer purely golden, but rather an intricate weave of gold and black. Upon every single feather, two distinct lights flowed in harmony—a holy gold and a profound black.

They did not clash, nor did they repel one another; instead, they coexisted in perfect harmony.

The Angelic Mark upon her forehead had also transformed. The originally pure-gold emblem now bore an additional ring of dark-gold纹路—intricate patterns of a deeper, darker gold.

Her aura had completely transcended the realm of mortals.

A God.

She had attained godhood.

Qian Renxue opened her eyes and gazed at the golden statue of the Angel God standing before her.

"Grandfather..."

She whispered softly, and a single tear slid down from the corner of her eye.

The tear traced a path down her cheek, fell to the ground, and splashed into a tiny ripple.

She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

Then, she turned around and walked out of the Angelic Temple.

Qian Renxue stood atop the summit of Pope Mountain, gazing out at the distant sky. In that direction lay Sea God Island.

"Ah Bai... I have become a god."

She murmured softly.

"I will be waiting for your return."

...

Sea God Island—The Courtyard.

Jiang Bai sat cross-legged beside the clear spring in the courtyard, his eyes closed.

He had just completed the eighth trial of the Dragon God’s Inheritance and had fully comprehended the Power of Destruction.

Creation and Destruction now coexisted within his body—Yin and Yang giving birth to one another, achieving a state of absolute, flawless perfection.

He opened his eyes and looked toward the east.

In that direction lay Spirit City.

He sensed an aura—one that felt both familiar and yet strangely new. It was Qian Renxue’s aura, yet it was now far more vast and infinitely more divine than ever before.

She had attained godhood. The corners of Jiang Bai’s lips curved upward slightly.

"Congratulations, Sister Xue’er,"

he murmured softly.

However, it would be better to offer his congratulations in person. Just as he was about to tear open space to travel to Spirit City and find Qian Renxue, that ethereal voice rang out in his mind once again.

"Additional reward for the Eighth Trial of the God’s Examination: the Divinity of Destruction."

As the voice faded, a dark-red divinity materialized out of thin air before Jiang Bai.

It hovered in mid-air, rotating slowly, exuding a pure, heart-stopping aura of destruction. This aura stood in stark contrast to the gentle nature of the Divinity of Creation—resembling an abyss, or perhaps a black hole, as if capable of devouring all things.

"Integrating the Divinity of Destruction for the Inheritor..."

The ethereal voice sounded once more.

The very next instant, the Divinity of Destruction plunged directly into Jiang Bai’s body.

A colossal surge of power flooded into his meridians, rushing through his body like a breached dam.

This power was domineering and wild, yet under the guidance of some invisible force within him, it became remarkably docile.

It flowed along his meridians; wherever it passed, any residual soul power was completely devoured and transformed.

His soul power was vanishing, replaced by a higher form of energy.

Divine Power.
