Chapter 284: Chapter 284: The Ninth Trial—The Great Tribulation of the God King

The Dragon God had forcibly suppressed these two opposing primordial forces within his own body, yet he had never truly fused them.

Creation and destruction—they were like water and fire, like light and darkness.

Under the pressure of an external force, they could indeed coexist within a single vessel; however, they could not function in harmony.

The Dragon God’s power appeared boundless and unrivaled, yet beneath the surface, treacherous currents swirled, and his very foundation remained unstable.

In his daily life, he relied on an indomitable will to suppress the conflict between these two forces; yet, should his mental focus ever waver, the contradictions he had so forcibly contained would erupt in a cataclysmic release. During that grand Divine Star Ceremony, the Dragon Prince sacrificed his own life to assist the Dragon God in completing the ritual to upgrade the Divine Star.

The anguish of losing his son shattered the Dragon God’s taut will; the twin forces of Creation and Destruction instantly spiraled out of control, clashing violently within his very being.

The Dragon God descended into utter madness, attacking everything indiscriminately—friend and foe alike—ultimately triggering the cataclysm that swept across the entire Divine Realm.

Jiang Bai understood that the Dragon God’s failure did not stem from a lack of power, but rather from a flawed approach.

Forcible suppression, after all, is not true integration.

The path he intended to walk differed from the Dragon God’s; it was not a path of seizure, nor of suppression, but of genuine integration.

Creation and Destruction are not adversaries; they are Yin and Yang.

Within the Yang lies the Yin; within the Yin lies the Yang. Solitary Yin cannot give birth; solitary Yang cannot sustain growth.

He opened his eyes and slowly raised his hands.

In his left hand, the black power of Destruction coalesced, resembling an abyss poised to devour all things.

In his right hand, the golden power of Creation gathered, resembling the rising sun that nurtures all life.

Unlike the Dragon God, he did not attempt to forcibly crush these forces together; instead, he allowed them to flow naturally—like two rivers, surging along their separate courses yet converging at the estuary where they meet the sea.

The black and golden energies no longer stood in opposition; instead, they intertwined and permeated one another.

They resembled the twin fish of Yin and Yang within the Taiji diagram—head to tail, each containing a part of the other.

A perfect Taiji symbol of Yin and Yang slowly materialized within his palms.

Yin and Yang rotated ceaselessly—a perpetual cycle of birth and decay.

This time, there was no loss of control, no conflict.

Only harmony.

It was not a matter of utilizing both forces simultaneously, but of fusing them into a single, unified entity. Creation is Destruction; Destruction is Creation.

Jiang Bai closed his eyes and submerged his consciousness into the Divine Spark of Creation.

Within the core of the Divine Spark lay a boundless expanse of silvery-white space. Scattered throughout this void floated countless specks of light, resembling distant stars.

Each speck of light represented a single life—lives of the past, the present, and the future.

Jiang Bai’s consciousness drifted through this space, observing the birth and extinction of these luminous specks.

Some specks glowed with a brilliant, steady light—representing lives currently in full bloom. Some points of light were dim and faint, representing lives on the verge of withering away. Others had just come into existence, flickering with a nascent glow. Still others were in the process of extinguishing, their radiance dissipating little by little.

Life and death—creation and destruction—were, in essence, two sides of the same coin.

He reached out his hand and touched a point of light that was about to go out.

The point of light trembled beneath his fingertips, then flared back to life.

It was not that he had healed it, but rather that he had caused it to reignite.

That was the Power of Creation.

Next, he touched a bright, vibrant point of light.

The point of light trembled beneath his fingertips, then went out.

It was not that he had killed it, but rather that it was destined to be extinguished. That was the Power of Destruction.

Jiang Bai understood.

Creation and destruction were not powers he bestowed upon external objects; rather, they were inherent attributes possessed by all things themselves.

He was merely a guide, not a master.

He withdrew his consciousness and opened his eyes.

He raised both hands.

In his left hand, the black Power of Destruction coalesced; in his right, the golden Power of Creation gathered.

Then, he brought his hands together.

Black and gold intertwined—not in conflict, nor in fusion, but in coexistence.

They coiled around one another, echoing each other’s presence like two swimming fish, head to tail.

A symbol of the Taiji—the Yin-Yang fish—emerged within his palms.

Yin and Yang rotated ceaselessly, a cycle of birth and death without end.

Jiang Bai thrust his hands forward.

A pillar of light—an interweaving of black and white—shot forth from his palms, soaring straight into the heavens!

Wherever the pillar of light passed, the sky was torn in two.

One half glowed with the golden light of creation; the other, with the black light of destruction.

They were not opposites, but a unity.

The pillar of light burst apart in the sky, scattering into a myriad of shimmering points of light.

These points of light drifted down—landing upon the ocean, upon the jagged reefs, and upon Sea God Island itself.

Upon the ocean’s surface, new schools of fish were born from the points of light, gliding gracefully through the depths.

Upon the reefs, new mosses sprouted from the points of light, shimmering with a vibrant emerald luster beneath the sunlight. On Sea God Island, new flowers bloomed forth from shimmering specks of light—a riot of vibrant hues, vying with one another in their dazzling beauty.

Yet, even as these new lives were being born, old things were fading away.

Withered vegetation crumbled back into soil; ancient reefs were worn down into sand by the ceaseless waves; and weary schools of fish found their eternal rest beneath the sea.

Creation and destruction—occurring simultaneously.

Not chaos, but order.

Not opposition, but harmony.

Standing atop the cliff, Jiang Bai gazed upon this spectacle, his heart filled with profound tranquility.

Then, that long-unheard, ethereal voice resounded within his mind: "The Eighth Trial of the Dragon God’s Divine Examination is complete. Reward: Divine Affinity increased by 10%; the cultivation age of all Soul Rings increased by 50,000 years."

"The Ninth Trial has commenced: The Great Tribulation of the God King. Completion Reward: Divine Affinity increased by 20%; the Ascending Dragon Pillar and the Dragon-Slaying Blade; inheritance of the Dragon God’s Divinity; and ascension to the rank of the new Supreme God King."

Jiang Bai closed his eyes, sensing the surging power coursing through his body.

Creation and destruction—coexisting within him.

They were no longer two distinct forces, but rather two facets of a single entity.

Like Yin and Yang.

Like light and darkness.

Like life and death.

...

Inside the Angel Temple.

Clad in robes of white and gold, Qian Daoliu stood with hair and beard turned entirely white, his face etched with the lines of age and weariness.

He stood beneath the statue of the Angel God, gazing upward at the towering figure of gray stone, his eyes filled with a complex blend of emotions.

He had devoted his entire life to worshipping this statue—from his spirited youth, through the years he presided over the Spirit Hall, to this very moment, as he stood on the brink of death.

The statue of the Angel God had never changed; it was he who had changed.

Standing behind him was Qian Renxue, clad in a long gown of white and gold, her golden hair cascading down her back. Her face remained expressionless, yet within the depths of her violet eyes, turbulent emotions lay hidden.

"Grandfather," she whispered softly.

Qian Daoliu turned to face her, his aged eyes filled with a profound sense of guilt and reluctance to let go.

"Xue’er... Grandfather will not live to see that day."

Qian Renxue’s body trembled ever so slightly. She knew exactly what her grandfather was referring to.

Qian Daoliu had long yearned to witness the birth of a child between Qian Renxue and Jiang Bai; yet, as time wore on, that hope grew increasingly faint.

"Xue’er... Grandfather has failed you."

Qian Renxue bit her lip, remaining silent.

"I know that no matter how many words I speak, I can never truly make amends," Qian Daoliu said, gazing up at the statue of the Angel God.

"But Grandfather still wishes to ask for your forgiveness."

He turned around to face Qian Renxue, his eyes filled with earnest entreaty.

"Xue’er... will you forgive Grandfather?"

Qian Daoliu took a deep breath and spoke slowly.

"Xue’er, the Ninth Trial of your Angel God Inheritance requires Grandfather’s sacrifice to be unlocked. I am ready."

Qian Renxue’s body gave a violent shudder. "Grandfather..."

Qian Daoliu raised a hand to silence her. He closed his eyes, and a look of profound relief settled upon his aged face.

"Xue’er, I give you my blessing. May you and Jiang Bai grow old together, and may your hearts remain forever united." He opened his eyes once more, fixing his gaze upon Qian Renxue.

As his words faded...

A fierce, golden flame suddenly erupted from Qian Daoliu’s body!

The fire burned with an intense, sacred radiance, illuminating the entirety of the Angel God Temple.

Within the flames, Qian Daoliu’s body began to turn translucent, dissolving into countless specks of golden light that drifted away into the air.
