Chapter 270: Chapter 270: The Nine Trials of the Sea God

Sea Dragon Douluo frowned.

The Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Sect? He had never heard of it.

He was only familiar with the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect.

Although he resided deep within the ocean, he was still well-aware of the Seven Great Sects of the land-based Soul Masters.

What exactly was the relationship between this "Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Sect" and the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Sect?

Although he did not know Jiang Bai’s background, anyone capable of commanding such a powerful Soul Beast surely possessed formidable strength.

He spoke in a deep, stern voice: "Sea God Island does not receive outsiders. Turn back at once!"

Jiang Bai smiled faintly: "And what if I refuse?"

Sea Dragon Douluo’s expression instantly turned grim.

"In that case, do not blame us for getting rough!"

The four Douluo standing behind him simultaneously unleashed their Martial Souls. Soul Rings of various colors lit up, and a powerful aura—tangible as a physical force—permeated the air in all directions.

Standing behind Jiang Bai, Shui Bing’er felt the oppressive pressure and her expression shifted slightly.

Five Titled Douluo...

Jiang Li’er, however, looked absolutely thrilled: "Are we going to fight? Are we going to fight?!"

Ye Lingling remained as quiet as ever, yet her hand had already risen slightly; the ethereal silhouette of the Nine-Heart Begonia flickered faintly within her palm.

Jiang Bai raised his hand, signaling them to hold back.

He looked at Sea Dragon Douluo and spoke calmly: "We did not come here to fight. We came for the legacy of the Sea God."

Sea Dragon Douluo was taken aback: "What?"

Jiang Bai turned his head to look at Shui Bing’er.

Shui Bing’er took a deep breath and stepped forward.

She unfastened the Vast Sea Universe Cover from her waist and held it high above her head.

A blue radiance blossomed beneath the sunlight. The light was gentle yet sacred, carrying with it the vast, boundless aura of the ocean as it radiated outward in every direction.

Sea Dragon Douluo’s pupils contracted abruptly!

"Is that... the Vast Sea Universe Cover?!"

He recognized the artifact, of course.

It was the token left behind by the Sea God—the very key to the Sea God’s legacy!

His expression instantly became a study in astonishment. The other four Douluo exchanged glances, their eyes filled with shock.

The Vast Sea Universe Cover... how could it be in this woman’s hands?

Could it be... that she is the chosen successor of Lord Sea God?

Sea Dragon Douluo took a deep breath, suppressing the turbulent waves raging within his heart.

Clasping his fists together, he spoke respectfully, "Please wait a moment; I shall go and report this to the High Priestess immediately."

Having said this, he turned and flew toward Sea God Island.

The other four Douluo also stepped aside in unison, clearing a path.

Jiang Bai smiled and said to Shui Bing’er, "Let’s go."

The Rainbow Dragon continued forward, slowly descending to land upon the beach of Sea God Island.

...

Inside the Sea God Temple.

Sea Dragon Douluo strode in briskly and dropped to one knee.

"High Priestess! The visitors possess the Vast Sea Universe Cover; I fear they have received Lord Sea God’s guidance and have come to undertake the Divine Trials!"

Bo Saixi’s pupils contracted ever so slightly.

The Vast Sea Universe Cover?

It was a token left behind by the Sea God—of course she knew of it. It was the key to unlocking the Sea God’s legacy; yet, for all these years, no one had ever laid eyes upon it.

And now, someone had arrived bearing it?

"Show them in." Her voice was calm, yet a flicker of complex emotion flashed within her eyes.

Sea Dragon Douluo nodded, then turned and departed.

A short while later, led by Sea Dragon Douluo, Jiang Bai and his three companions stepped into the Sea God Temple.

Bo Saixi stood before the divine statue, her back turned toward them.

She slowly turned around.

Her gaze settled upon the young man clad in white who stood at the very front.

The young man possessed a handsome and refined countenance, an air of composure, and exuded an aura of unfathomable depth from head to toe.

A subtle sense of alarm stirred within her heart.

This man... was no simple figure.

Her gaze then shifted to the three women accompanying him.

The woman with golden hair and crimson eyes radiated a wild, untamed aura—like a ferocious beast poised to devour its prey.

The woman in the long, aquamarine gown faintly exuded the aura of an Ice Phoenix.

The woman clad in black, her face veiled, remained as silent and elusive as a shadow, yet she evoked a sensation that was indefinable and mysterious.

Bo Saixi’s gaze ultimately returned to rest upon Jiang Bai. "Who are you? And how did you come to possess the Sea God’s Universe Cover?"

Her voice was ethereal yet majestic, echoing throughout the grand hall.

Jiang Bai looked at her and smiled faintly.

"Jiang Bai, Sect Master of the Nine Treasures Glazed Tile Sect."

"As for how we obtained it—that is of no importance."

He turned slightly to the side and gestured toward Shui Bing’er: "This is Shui Bing’er; she is currently the master of the Sea God’s Universe Cover. The Sea God has descended a divine will, guiding her to Sea God Island to commence the Sea God’s Trials."

Bo Saixi’s gaze settled upon Shui Bing’er.

Shui Bing’er stepped forward, curtsied slightly, and spoke with reverence: "Greetings, High Priestess. I am Shui Bing’er."

Bo Saixi remained silent for a moment.

"Please, follow me."

On Sea God Island, a gentle sea breeze stirred.

Bo Saixi walked at the very front, her long robes—as crimson as blood—fluttering softly in the wind.

Her pace was neither hurried nor slow; every step was steady and composed, as if she were not merely walking, but performing some sacred ritual.

Behind her, Jiang Bai and his three companions followed.

Sea Dragon Douluo and the other Holy Pillar Guardians stood aligned on either side, their gazes filled with a mixture of scrutiny and curiosity.

Before long, they arrived at a platform.

It was a massive platform, constructed entirely of white jade, with carvings of ocean waves adorning its edges. In the very center of the platform stood a colossal stone pillar.

The Sea Dragon Holy Pillar.

The other Holy Pillar Douluos soon arrived as well.

Sea Horse Douluo, Sea Spear Douluo, Sea Star Douluo, Sea Illusion Douluo, and Sea Demon Douluo.

The five of them took their positions on either side of the platform, their eyes fixed upon the four outsiders trailing behind Bo Saixi.

Bo Saixi halted her steps before the Sea Dragon Holy Pillar.

She turned around, her gaze resting upon Shui Bing’er.

"Miss Shui Bing’er, please step forward."

Her voice remained ethereal and majestic, yet it carried a faint trace of—almost imperceptible—complexity.

Shui Bing’er took a deep breath and stepped forward.

As she walked past the Holy Pillar Douluos, she could feel the weight of their gazes upon her. There was scrutiny, curiosity, and even a hint of... anticipation.

Her heart pounded rapidly.

The Sea God’s Legacy... could she truly succeed?

Bo Saixi stood motionless before the Sea Dragon Sacred Pillar, raising her scepter.

Shui Bing’er stepped forward, coming to a halt one pace behind Bo Saixi.

Bo Saixi slowly lifted her scepter, her face filled with an expression of utmost piety. A faint blue radiance emanated from the gem atop the scepter—soft as the rolling waves, yet profound as the boundless sky.

The blue light intensified, growing ever brighter.

The very next instant, the light burst forth in a sudden, brilliant bloom, bathing the entire platform of the Sea Dragon Sacred Pillar in a shimmering, crystalline blue glow. The radiance surged and swirled like the ocean tides, completely enveloping the platform.

Immediately thereafter, a flash of light erupted from the base of the Sea Dragon Sacred Pillar, and a beam of blue energy began to trace its way upward along the intricate patterns carved into the pillar.

Following the sculpted contours, the blue light snaked its way skyward with astonishing speed. Wherever it passed, the carved images—depicting surging waves, schools of fish, and soaring seabirds—seemed to spring to life, appearing to swim and fly across the stone column.

In the mere blink of an eye, the blue light reached the very pinnacle of the Sacred Pillar.

Bo Saixi opened her eyes, turned around, and faced Shui Bing’er.

She directed the scepter held in her hand toward Shui Bing’er.

A pillar of blue light descended from the heavens, enveloping Shui Bing’er’s entire form.

The pillar of light was gentle and sacred; bathed within its glow, Shui Bing’er felt no sensation of shock or discomfort—only a profound warmth spreading through her body, bringing with it an indescribable sense of ease.

Yet, to those watching from the sidelines, a truly breathtaking scene unfolded.

The color of the light pillar enveloping Shui Bing’er began to shift and change at an astonishing pace.

Blue, white, yellow, purple, black...

A beam of black light surged upward with incredible velocity, shooting straight toward the very summit of the Sacred Pillar.

Bo Saixi’s pupils contracted ever so slightly.

The various Sacred Pillar Douluo present also held their breath in collective awe.

Following the black came the red.

It was the color of a 100,000-year Soul Ring—the highest possible tier within the Sea God’s Trials. Without hesitation, the color of the light pillar shifted to blood-red.

A crimson radiance erupted abruptly, surging upward in an instant to strike the very pinnacle of the Sacred Pillar.

A low hum—reminiscent of the ocean’s mournful cry—resounded from the Sacred Pillar; deep and drawn-out, the sound seemed like an ancient summons rising from the very depths of the sea.

Immediately thereafter, a colossal pillar of blood-red light shot skyward, piercing straight into the heavens!

The Inner Sea seethed.

In that instant, the entire expanse of the Inner Sea erupted in massive waves towering a hundred meters high—rising vertically like towering walls of water.

The entirety of Sea God Island trembled.

Bo Saixi’s eyes were filled with utter shock.

The Nine Trials of the Sea God!

This was the highest tier of divine trials!

In all her years of life, she had never once witnessed anyone capable of triggering the Nine Trials of the Sea God!

The transformation was not yet complete.

The entirety of Sea God Island seemed to tremble in unison with the crimson light that surged skyward from the Sea Dragon Sacred Pillar. Immediately thereafter, the other six Sacred Pillars simultaneously erupted with colossal pillars of blood-red light!

Six beams of crimson light soared into the heavens from various corners of the island!

The seven pillars of light converged at a single point high in the sky.

In that instant, the very heavens seemed to be torn asunder.

The crimson hues faded away, and from the precise point of their convergence, a beam of golden light—radiant beyond all measure—descended from the heavens to settle upon Shui Bing’er.

The golden light felt warm and sacred, like a mother’s gentle hand softly caressing her body.

Shui Bing’er closed her eyes, immersing herself in the sensation of that golden radiance.

Within the embrace of that light, subtle changes began to take place within her body. She could not quite articulate the exact nature of these changes, yet the sensation was nothing short of miraculous—an indescribable feeling of profound comfort.

Gradually, the golden light dissipated.

Left behind, centered squarely upon Shui Bing’er’s forehead, was a golden trident mark.

The mark was small—no larger than a thumb—yet it radiated a faint, golden halo. The trident motif was exquisitely detailed and distinct, appearing as though it had been painted with the finest gold dust.

Bo Saixi gazed upon that mark, her eyes filled with a complex mix of emotions.

The Nine Trials of the Sea God...

The true successor to the Sea God had finally appeared.

She could, at last, find her release.

Yet, it was a release found only in death.
