Doomsday Rebirth: The Doctor and the General's Survival Farm
Chapter 91: The Spatial Dimension
Something opened its eyes deep within the shadows.
Raviah stood frozen, unable to move a muscle as a cold, terrifying sensation gripped her entire frame. The strange presence was not coming from the stone cavern echoing around her.
It existed somewhere far deeper, beyond physical space and beneath the delicate boundaries of her mind. It was vibrating from within her own internal spatial dimension.
A sudden fourth pulse struck the boundary like a sledgehammer. Her entire body trembled violently, her vision blurring at the edges as her breath hitched in her throat.
Then, without warning, an absolute silence descended upon the chamber. The violent shaking stopped as abruptly as it had begun.
Raviah remained pressed tightly against Rhyder’s broad chest, her lungs heaving as she waited for a follow-up attack.
Minutes ticked by, but nothing happened.
There was no fifth energy pulse, no haunting voice, and no terrifying creature breaking through the boundary. Instead, a strange, soothing warmth slowly spread through her veins, replacing the excruciating pain.
Rhyder lowered his sharp gaze toward her pale face, his heavy arms tightening around her waist to support her weight. "Are you hurt?"
Raviah swallowed hard, her throat feeling bone-dry as she tried to make sense of the sudden shift. "I don’t know."
She closed her eyes, focusing her mind inward to touch the core of her spatial dimension. Her consciousness drifted through the threshold, and she instantly froze in shock. The vast, barren void that had served as her warehouse was gone.
The realm was rapidly transforming into something entirely unrecognizable. The enormous expanse of dark, empty soil now looked strangely, impossibly alive. Tiny green shoots were pushing their way up through the fertile earth in bright, vibrant patches.
Raviah stared at the sudden growth in sheer disbelief. They were real, living plants sprouting before her eyes.
They were scattered across the landscape in irregular, natural clusters, their delicate leaves trembling gently despite the absolute absence of wind.
Then, a faint sound echoed through the space. It was the soft, continuous trickling of moving water. Raviah turned her consciousness toward the eastern perimeter of the dimension. A narrow, clear stream was flowing smoothly through the newly formed soil.
She knew with absolute certainty that she had never stored a river in that area. There had never been a natural water source within her spatial realm before.
Yet pristine water was bubbling directly up from the ground, gathering into a shallow stream that carved its way through the landscape.
Raviah’s breath caught in her throat. "This is impossible."
Rhyder immediately picked up on the sudden shift in her posture, his brow furrowing with intense concern. "What do you see?"
She opened her eyes, her gaze wide as she looked up at him. "Something is happening inside my spatial dimension."
"What kind of something?" Rhyder asked, his military instincts flaring as he surveyed the empty cave.
"I don’t know," she whispered, her hands shaking slightly.
She reached out and grasped his hand tightly, pulling his physical presence into the spatial realm alongside her.
Rhyder’s heavy combat boots landed on soft, moist earth, the rich scent of fresh soil hitting his senses immediately. He paused, staring out across the transformed landscape in stunned silence.
The world stretching before him was different from the artificial storage room he had seen previously.
Soft grass now carpeted large portions of the rolling terrain. Small, verdant shrubs had sprouted along the banks of the newly formed stream. Several unfamiliar plants had already grown taller than Raviah’s waist, their stems translucent and their leaves carrying faint crystalline veins.
Rhyder slowly turned his head to look down at her, his jaw set in a hard line. "When did this happen?"
"Just now," Raviah replied, her voice filled with awe and uncertainty.
His sharp eyes narrowed as he instinctively swept the horizon for potential threats. He scanned the lush greenery, searching for sudden movements, hidden beasts, or biological abnormalities.
Raviah, however, was no longer watching the plants at her feet. She tilted her head upward, staring at the expanse above them. The sky inside her spatial dimension had undergone a miraculous shift as well.
It was no longer an empty, artificial void of pitch darkness. A soft, golden radiance filtered across the horizon, painting the edges of the realm in warm light. It looked almost like a rising sun, lingering on the edge of dawn.
"It’s developing an ecosystem," Raviah whispered, watching the light reflect off the stream.
Rhyder walked over to the bank, gazing down at the clear, running water. "By itself?"
"Yes," she answered, stepping alongside him.
She crouched down beside one of the strange, translucent plants growing near the water’s edge. To her astonishment, its glowing leaves slowly leaned toward her hand as if seeking warmth. The moment her fingertips brushed the smooth stem, the plant released a faint, pulsing wave of energy.
Raviah’s eyes widened as her elemental perception registered the feedback. "It has a Core."
Rhyder immediately closed the distance between them, his hand resting on the hilt of his sidearm. "A plant has a Core?"
"Not exactly like the ones we’ve seen," she explained, analyzing the flow of energy with her mind.
She examined the delicate structure, watching how the energy circulated through the organism.
Tiny crystalline structures were embedded directly within its root system, but they were vastly different from standard Beast Cores. They were significantly smaller, perfectly integrated, and harmonious with the surrounding tissue.
It was as if the atmospheric energy had become a natural component of the plant’s living biology.
Raviah stood up slowly, dusting off her knees as she looked across the blooming fields.
"This dimension isn’t merely storing inanimate objects anymore."
Her hands trembled as the full weight of the realization hit her.
"It’s actively creating life."
A deep, rhythmic vibration suddenly traveled through the earth beneath their feet.
Rhyder’s face darkened instantly as he shifted into a defensive stance. "Raviah."
"I felt it," she said, her heart accelerating once again.
The heavy vibration rolled through the ground a second time, stronger than before. This time, the rich soil behind her makeshift shelter visibly cracked and buckled. Raviah turned her head sharply toward the sound.
A thin, blinding line of pure white light emerged from beneath the stone foundation. The fissure widened rapidly, sending small clods of earth tumbling into the crevice.
Solid stone pushed upward from the depths, breaching the surface with a low rumble. Something massive was growing from the depths of her dimension. It was not a leafy plant, nor was it a tangled root.
A colossal crystalline structure slowly rose from the soil, breaking through the crust like an emerging mountain. Its surface was semi-translucent and smooth, forming sharp, geometric layers as it climbed higher. Veins of pure white energy flowed through its interior like brilliant liquid light.
Rhyder drew his weapon in a fluid motion, pointing the barrel toward the growing crystal. "Is that thing hostile?"
"I don’t know," Raviah admitted, taking a tentative step forward.
The massive crystal seemed to react to her proximity instantly. Its internal radiance flared brightly, washing over the green landscape in warm illumination.
Then, the entire structure released a rhythmic pulse of energy. It beat once, then twice, vibrating in perfect harmony with her own pulse. It was echoing the frequency of the underground Core in Sector Seven.
Raviah’s face drained of color as she recognized the resonance. "They’re connected."
Rhyder kept his weapon trained on the crystal, his eyes darting between it and Raviah. "Connected to the Core beneath Sol Haven?"
She nodded numbly, unable to tear her eyes away from the brilliant structure. "And to this place."
She reached out, letting her bare hand rest against the smooth, hummed face of the crystal. The moment her skin touched the surface, a wave of ancient energy surged directly into her mind. Vivid, terrifying visions flashed across her consciousness in rapid succession.
She saw an age of primordial darkness, a raw world long before the rise of human civilization. She felt vast roots carving through ancient stone, deep beneath the earth’s crust.
Vast, endless oceans of raw elemental energy swirled beneath the planet’s surface. And deep at the center of it all, an ancient entity slept in anticipation.
Raviah gasped, ripping her hand away from the crystal as if it had burned her. She stumbled backward, her balance failing as her knees buckled.
Rhyder caught her expertly, stowing his weapon to wrap a steady arm around her shoulders. "What did you see?"
She looked up at the towering crystal, her breath coming in ragged gasps. Then she looked over at the winding river and the glowing plants spreading across the once-barren soil.
Her voice was barely a whisper against the hum of the realm.
"My spatial dimension isn’t just changing."
The massive crystal pulsed again, sending a gentle wave of warm light washing over them both.
"It is evolving."
Before either of them could speak, a translucent system window materialized in the air directly before their eyes. For the first time since Raviah had opened her eyes in this second life, the system displayed a prompt unlike any other:
[DIMENSIONAL EVOLUTION: 1%]
Raviah stared at the floating characters, her mind racing to comprehend the scale of what was happening.
Rhyder’s grip tightened protectively around her waist, his eyes fixed on the message.
A heavy silence settled over the newly formed landscape.
Neither of them uttered a word, bound by the gravity of the transformation unfolding around them. Because deep beneath the foundation of her spatial home, the ancient crystalline structure had only just begun to expand.
