Doomsday Rebirth: The Doctor and the General's Survival Farm
Chapter 106: The Visitor
The crimson sky split apart above Sol Haven’s northern wall. The heavens tore wide open with an agonizing tear, unspooling into a void that swallowed the atmospheric haze.
Every soldier froze along the battlements, rifles lowering and blades trailing in the dust. Below them, the frantic screeching of the Zerg vanished into dead silence, while the frozen zombies and mutated beasts locked in place like ice statues.
Something colossal broke through the shattered sky, descending without a single sound. Flaps of dark, translucent membrane layered its massive frame, catching and refracting the dying red sunlight.
Wing-like structures hovered around its back, drifting lazily through the atmosphere as if floating in an unseen current.
No roaring thrusters carved the air, and no trails of plasma burned behind it. It simply fell with deliberate, crushing weight.
Inside Raviah’s chest, her core pulsed violently, matching a sudden, heavy thrum in her soul. She slammed a hand against her chest, her breathing turning shallow as her spatial dimension vibrated in response.
"Rhyder..." she gasped out, turning toward the commander beside her.
"I feel it," Rhyder murmured, his jaw tight as he kept his grip fixed on his weapon.
The sheer density of energy spilling from the sky was unlike any threat they had faced before. Across the defensive line, human Elementals dropped to their knees, their Cores pulsing in unison with the mutated beasts, the crystalline zombie fragments, and the Zerg below.
Every living energy source on the bloody field resonated at the same frequency, turning the entire warzone into a single, thrumming instrument.
Before anyone could make sense of the sudden harmony, the Zerg King lowered its massive, armored head. Its towering limbs bent until its chitinous chest scraped against the frozen mud.
Raviah’s breath hitched in her throat as she watched the evolutionary apex, the terrible commander that had slaughtered millions, bow its terrifying head.
One Zerg soldier lowered its body behind the king. Then another followed, until the silent submission rippled through thousands, then millions, spanning across the northern ridge.
Commanders, warriors, and drone swarms all touched the dirt in absolute surrender. There was no hiss of defiance, no defensive posture, and no hesitation.
Rhyder raised his rifle toward the sky, his eyes narrowed as he assessed the impossible scene.
"General?" a nearby soldier called out, his voice trembling as he aimed down the wall.
"Nobody attacks," Rhyder ordered, his voice cutting cleanly through the silent air. "Hold your positions."
Raviah gripped the edge of the stone battlement, her mind racing as she studied the alien creature above. The Zerg King’s submission wasn’t born out of fear or defeat. It was the unquestioning reverence of a lesser lifeform acknowledging a superior existence.
Wanting answers, Raviah cautiously extended her Root outward, casting her consciousness toward the entity’s overwhelming energy field.
The moment her spiritual sense grazed the creature, a violent white pain exploded behind her eyes. Her vision swam, her knees giving way instantly as the backfire hit her body.
Rhyder caught her before she hit the stone, wrapping a broad arm around her waist to anchor her.
"Raviah!" he barked, pulling her close against his armor.
"I’m fine," she managed to say, clutching his forearm as the agonizing pressure slowly receded.
She was far from fine, but in that split second of contact, a glimpse of the truth had flooded her mind. It wasn’t a mind filled with thoughts or hatred, but a vast, primordial presence that stretched past individual flesh, past species, and far beyond the confines of Earth itself.
Her root snapped back into her body like a struck spring, leaving her shuddering against Rhyder’s chest.
"I don’t know what that thing is," she admitted softly, staring back up at the sky.
Rhyder tightened his hold on her, his eyes fixed on the entity above them. "Is it hostile?"
Raviah shook her head slowly, her hair falling across her face. "No. At least... I don’t think it cares enough to hate us."
"Is it on our side?" Rhyder asked, glancing at the silent, kneeling swarm below.
She looked at the millions of bow-backed Zerg, then back to the glowing Cores pulsing across Sol Haven.
"No," Raviah whispered, her voice barely carrying over the wind. "It isn’t on anyone’s side."
The entity drifted closer, parting the crimson clouds like tissue paper. Slender veins of pale lightning danced across its dark hull, but the energy dissipated harmlessly against its skin.
It finally hovered to a complete standstill, locking into place directly over the heart of Sol Haven.
Instantly, every core embedded inside the fortress flared with blinding light. Deep within Raviah’s body, her spatial dimension shuddered violently, and the crystalline structure resting inside her space released a brilliant white pulse that swept through her veins.
Rhyder’s core answered with a sudden surge of deep blue energy, crackling around his knuckles.
All along the fortress walls, thousands of Elementals cried out as their dormant powers were forcefully pulled to the surface, aligning with the pressure above.
The entity shifted slightly, its translucent wings spreading as an opening parted along its central mass.
A wave of transparent energy rippled outward, washing down toward the planet’s surface.
"Everyone, brace yourselves!" Raviah shouted, instinctively pushing her Root outward to form a thin protective barrier over the surrounding soldiers.
The energy wave swept through the fortress, effortlessly passing through thick stone walls, reinforced steel plates, heavy military armor, and human flesh.
Raviah squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for the tearing pain of an attack, but nothing shattered. No one screamed, no buildings collapsed, and no core ruptured under the pressure.
Instead, a stillness fell over the entire battlefield, smoothing over the chaotic noise of war.
For one impossible moment, Raviah’s perception expanded outward, allowing her to feel every heartbeat within a ten-mile radius.
She felt the heavy pulse of the soldiers beside her, the steady thrum of Rhyder’s heart, the strange rhythm of millions of Zerg, and the subtle life force of the mutated flora beneath the dirt.
Everything was woven together into a single, vast web of existence.
Then, as quickly as it had arrived, the wave washed past Sol Haven, rolling over the mountain peaks, crossing the ruined continents, and disappearing over the horizon.
Raviah opened her eyes wide, her chest heaving as the connection faded.
The visitor hadn’t come to destroy them or wage a war. It was searching for something on the surface. And with that single wave, it had just found what it was looking for.
