Chapter 717: Chapter 705: Marrying a Rich Man (8)

After dozens of punches, Archie Lockwood forcefully threw Owen Miller to the ground.

He rolled his aching wrists, his gaze fixed on the man on the ground. Though his face was twisted in pain, Owen Miller still managed to curse at him.

A shiver ran down Owen Miller’s spine under Archie Lockwood’s gaze, but he gritted his teeth and continued to curse him.

Just as the man was about to run out of energy from cursing, Shirley Lockwood arrived with Howard Rhodes and Louise Jordan.

Archie Lockwood looked away and returned to Eleanor Bishop’s side, reaching out to steady her swaying body. Turning to Howard Rhodes, he said, "Take him away and deal with him."

"Yes." Howard Rhodes responded sharply. He strode over and hauled Owen Miller up from the ground.

Hearing Archie’s words and then seeing Howard Rhodes lift Owen Miller as easily as a baby chick, she grew anxious. She gripped Archie Lockwood’s arm tightly. "What are you going to do to him?" Even though Owen Miller had hit her, she didn’t want Archie to kill someone on her account.

Archie Lockwood’s lips curled into a self-deprecating smile. "What? Feeling sorry for him now?"

"No, I don’t feel sorry for him, I just...’

"Don’t worry, I’m not going to kill him," Archie Lockwood said, having seen through her fears. His voice was cold and mocking. "Killing someone over you isn’t worth it."

A sharp pain lanced through Eleanor Bishop’s heart at his words. ’He’s right. Killing someone over me isn’t worth it. How could I have even thought that?’

When Eleanor Bishop didn’t respond, Archie Lockwood’s eyes narrowed viciously. "Maim him. Just leave him breathing!"

"Yes, Boss!"

Owen Miller lost all composure when he heard Archie Lockwood’s command. He struggled violently, roaring, "What are you going to do?! Let me go! Let me go! Do you have any idea who I am?"

Archie Lockwood released Eleanor Bishop. A cruel smile played on his lips as he strode toward Owen Miller. Standing before him, his lip curled in contempt. "We have no interest in who you are. All you need to know is that I’m not someone you can afford to mess with. And she is not someone you can hit just because you want to. Understand?"

That one word sent a chill through Owen Miller, making the hair on his arms stand up. His face went pale, and he nodded.

"This is just a lesson. Next time, it won’t be as simple as just maiming you."

Owen Miller had never dreamed the consequences for hitting a woman would be this dire. His earlier arrogance vanished instantly, replaced by terrified, crying pleas for mercy.

"I was wrong! I shouldn’t have hit her! Please, just let me go, sir!"

"Sir, forget the one million! I don’t want it, okay? I don’t want it! Please, just let me go! I know I was wrong!"

...

Archie Lockwood remained unmoved by the man’s pleading. He just shouted impatiently at Howard Rhodes, "What are you waiting for? Take him away!"

"Yes," Howard Rhodes answered sharply.

He hauled the man toward a car parked on the roadside, with Louise Jordan following close behind.

Only after Howard Rhodes and Louise Jordan had left did Archie Lockwood turn around. His brows furrowed slightly as he took in Eleanor Bishop’s battered, wretched state.

As he stood there, staring blankly at Eleanor Bishop, she gave him a wan smile. Then, before he could process her expression, she collapsed backward.

His heart leaped into his throat. He lunged forward, hands outstretched, trying to catch her.

But he was a step too late. Eleanor Bishop hit the ground hard. What terrified him even more was the sight of blood trickling from her nose.

It was as if a bomb went off in his head. He froze completely.
