Chapter 4582: Journeying Safely?
Chapter 4582: Journeying Safely?
Davis’s group traversed the pathway behind the waterfall. It was quite dangerous since most of the footpath was jagged and wet. If they slipped, they could still float and pull themselves up, but if they were washed away by the mountainous pressure of the waterfall, then they wouldn’t be able to do anything unless they sank into the river, but by then, they would be buried by the density of the water-metal energy.
Immortal Emperors wouldn’t even be able to survive the force of the waterfall itself. Since they had Empyrean-level prowess, they could somewhat withstand. Still, it was a death sentence to fall.
The chances of survival were very less.
Working together, jumping over jagged surfaces the same way Myria and the others came here, they managed to successfully exit the waterfall on the other side without any incidents.
“Phew…” Tia heaved a sigh of relief.
Although she had been confident in her divination, she didn’t think she would find Davis in the next days, much less have a safe path to traverse. However, she obtained both, causing her to inwardly dance.
Davis had also acknowledged her prowess in divination. Now she could use it as much as she wanted as long as she wasn’t direct.
They proceeded to take the path they traversed while Davis followed them.
After completing a quarter of the distance before nightfall, it turned out that the winding path they took was much safer than the one he traversed. They didn’t meet any Primarch-level existences lying right by their side, and even harvested three Low-Level Primarch Grade Treasures. It took some additional time. Otherwise, they would’ve covered forty percent of the distance.
They set up a place for rest and slept the whole night while Davis kept watch.
After a few hours, Fairy Thunderblaze came out to watch while Davis went inside.
Time passed. At dawn, she went to wake them up and heard strange noises, causing her expression to turn blank before she retreated.
Usually, they would’ve been out by dawn, but it took more time than expected.
Davis and Myria walked out first, her cheeks rosy and her eyes full of shyness. On the other hand, Isabella and Tia were quite clueless. They came out and yawned. Nadia was still sleeping heavily since she used most of her energy and stamina to remain concealed.
‘Shameless…’ Fairy Thunderblaze stared at him and worded out soundlessly.
Davis shrugged.
If she didn’t want to hear or see anything, then she could simply leave their party or put up another tent.
Nevertheless, they continued the journey.
Davis looked at Myria with affection with every glance he could get at her while looking around for threats. She wasn’t afraid to have dual cultivation even while he was sick. Perhaps it was her own way of saying that he didn’t need to worry that they wouldn’t discriminate against him, even if the sickness was incurable.
Isabella and Tia noticed his gaze. They pouted. He had been harsh with them but made love to Myria instead. If they wanted to get intimate, then they felt like they would probably be blocked. They felt he would use the sickness as a reason not to be intimate with them.
They could only inwardly grumble, keeping quiet.
However, Nadia was in another world. She completely sealed her thoughts of wanting to be intimate because of the karmic curse. She was determined not to cause any trouble for Davis, and as she advanced through her bloodline each time, her sexual appetite decreased to an all-time low.
She knew the reason- obviously, because she was a death-attributed wolf who had fewer procreation aspects.
Still, since she had experienced dual cultivation and knew the wonders of it, she couldn’t forget about it, too. Nadia kept waiting for the day when Davis would become an Empyrean and break her curse once again. Until then, she decided not to think about it.
However, there was one person who was by Myria’s side and consequently also on his side.
“Are you not scared I’ll give you the Lunar Shadow Bleeding Sickness? It’s quite contagious.”
Davis asked Fairy Thunderblaze, his lips curling, “It’s not a given that we’ll cure you.”
Fairy Thunderblaze turned to look at him, her dark black eyes swirling with amusement, “You say that, but I can tell you’ll cure me.”
“Yes, for that big favor.”
“I bet you will do it for free as you watch me writhe in pain.” Fairy Thunderblaze raised her brows.
“…”
“After all, you can’t bear to see a beauty like me die painfully, would you?” She giggled.
Her seductive voice and belief caused Davis to break out into a smile that was quite unsightly as his face was now filled with dark black patches.
Yet the high and mighty Fairy Thunderblaze showed no signs of fear or even disgust.
“You’re right. Not just you. I’ll save any beauty, especially those who are writhing with pain, as long as they are not my enemy.”
Davis couldn’t help but remember a Celestial Fairy, wondering what she was doing now. His thoughts were quickly disturbed by Fairy Thunderblaze trying to reach her hand towards him.
Davis bent and moved away, “Don’t be playful. You’ll really get the sickness and look unsightly. Do you want to ruin your looks?”
Fairy Thunderblaze couldn’t help but smile. She confirmed that he really did care about her, even if it was the slightest. She lowered her head, feeling something rising within her heart, a hint of playfulness and desire, wanting to tease him more.
‘I love teasing him… and just walking side by side feels somewhat natural… it’s…’
‘Disgusting…’
Fairy Thunderblaze’s eyes turned cold, wondering what the fuck she was doing as she came out of her reverie.
‘Have I become too dependent…? That cannot be… I am using him… to fulfill my needs…’
She glanced around, looking at Nadia, Myria, Isabella, and Tia, knowing that as long as they existed, he would never truly belong to her. She didn’t know what she had been deluding herself into thinking, causing her to intentionally distance herself for the rest of the journey that day.
Davis also noticed her eyes no longer contained any amusement. He wondered what was wrong with her, but didn’t pay too much attention. He kept a vigilant eye and kept harvesting the treasures.
If Fairy Thunderblaze saw something she was interested in, she would come to trade.
Other than that, nothing significant happened.
Finally, they returned to the northern side of the basin and continued their journey.
Three days passed, and their journey was nearly eighty percent complete, but a storm suddenly eclipsed the area, causing them to take shelter in a mountain cave.
After they were asleep, Davis left the area, appearing in an empty dark valley.
His figure was like a ghost, his expression steely. His appearance was similar to that of a person who died from disease, with black patches all over his body. The patches were even stained right down to his bones. Even his soul experienced incredible pain from the moonlights shining on him.
“I suppose the time is right about now…”
Davis waved his finger, and the carcass of the Eternal Eclipse Bird descended, shaking the entire valley and quickly shrouding it in a corruptive aroma.
However, Davis’s gaze flashed with uncontainable excitement, “Time for Grim Death’s Awakening…”
