Chapter 664: Chapter 663: The Final Charge

The fifty-six Demon Palace Warriors had already reached their Limit. Honed by a series of bloody battles, their Mental Realms were rapidly transforming. Weakness and fear had vanished from their hearts, replaced by nothing but fortitude and a will to kill.

"Fine, Lin Yun. I’d like to see just how long you can last. Kill them!" Hearing the Demon Palace Warriors’ roars to kill, the Third Commander’s expression shifted slightly. He then barked his order to the thousand Divine Palace Warriors behind him.

This was already the fourth wave of Divine Palace Warriors. As the two sides clashed, it was easy to see that the Demon Palace Warriors’ movements had slowed, and the same was true for Little Ape and the Black-striped Tiger.

After fighting for two hours without a moment’s rest, anyone would be exhausted, let alone in a bloody battle such as this.

Several Demon Palace Warriors were struck and wounded by the Divine Palace Warriors, their reactions a half-beat too slow. This never would have happened under normal circumstances; it was only because of their extreme exhaustion that their bodies could no longer keep up.

All the Demon Palace Warriors were now running on sheer willpower. Perhaps sensing that these frenzied fighters were finally running out of stamina, the Divine Palace Warriors attacked with renewed vigor.

This hundred-man Demon Palace squadron had shown the Divine Palace Warriors the true meaning of terror. Now that their enemies were exhausted, the Divine Palace Warriors saw a glimmer of hope, and their attacks grew sharper.

That’s how it is when two armies clash. When you weaken, your enemy strengthens. The moment they sense the slightest hint of weakness, they instinctively see a golden opportunity to kill you. And that was precisely the case for the Divine Palace Warriors now.

The attacks grew increasingly fierce. The Divine Palace Warriors, who had initially possessed no Battle Intent, now erupted with it. Countless of their number had died in the fighting so far, and seeing the chance to finally slay these devils, the Divine Palace Warriors naturally gave it their all.

As one side waxed and the other waned, the exhausted Demon Palace Warriors struggled even more against the newly hopeful Divine Palace Warriors. In a short span of time, Lin Yun saw two more of his men fall.

"Pull yourselves together! Have you forgotten the look of fear in their eyes? When the enemy is weak, we are strong; when we are weak, the enemy is strong! As the strongest squadron of the Demon Palace, do you really want to die at the hands of these ants?"

Lin Yun roared, striking down a Divine Palace Warrior as he spoke.

Hearing Lin Yun’s roar, the Demon Palace Warriors all turned to look at him. If one had to say who was the most exhausted person on the battlefield, it was undoubtedly Lin Yun.

In every clash, Lin Yun was the primary target. The other Demon Palace Warriors might only have to face a few dozen opponents each, but Lin Yun faced hundreds, sometimes even thousands.

His once-clean green robes were now unrecognizable. The blood soaking them had dried from red to a dark black, and his face was completely caked in it. Only his bright eyes still radiated an intense killing intent.

Lin Yun knew everyone was exhausted. ’But we can’t stop. It’s not time to fall yet.’ If he and his men went down now, all their efforts would have been for nothing.

Watching Lin Yun fight hundreds of Divine Palace Warriors all by himself, the other Demon Palace Warriors looked at their own opponents—only a few dozen each.

They weren’t facing nearly as many enemies as Lin Yun, and yet they had needed him to remind them of their duty. In an instant, fierce Battle Intent erupted in the eyes of the Demon Palace Warriors once more.

Their movements had been a half-beat slow from fatigue, but upon seeing Lin Yun still leading the charge against hundreds of Divine Palace Warriors, they each bit down hard on their lips.

They bit so hard they drew blood, which trickled down from the corners of their mouths. They used the pain to force themselves to stay alert, refusing to collapse from the extreme exhaustion.

Filled with renewed Battle Intent, the Demon Palace Warriors shook off their lethargy and charged once more at the Divine Palace soldiers surrounding them.

Watching the Demon Palace Warriors erupt once again, the Divine Palace Warriors—who had just started to feel hopeful—were plunged back into Hell. The devils they thought were exhausted had just reawakened.

Watching his men charge at the Divine Palace Warriors once more, Lin Yun felt a faint smile touch his lips. ’If we can survive this battle,’ he thought, ’we will become the most courageous of warriors. No matter where we go, our enemies will tremble at the mere mention of our names.’

Rallying himself, Lin Yun charged in one final push toward the hundred-some Divine Palace Warriors before him.

He stopped using Martial Skills. At this stage, Lin Yun had to use the simplest methods to deliver the most effective and fatal attacks.

In close-quarters combat, Lin Yun’s Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear relentlessly reaped the lives of the Divine Palace Warriors. When their attacks landed on him, it was as if he felt nothing. Or perhaps, it was the very pain of his wounds that kept him sharp, reminding him that he absolutely could not fall now.

Because of Lin Yun’s words, the Demon Palace Warriors had once again become devils. The Third Commander, who had yet to make a move himself, watched the Demon Palace group erupt with heaven-piercing Battle Intent, the killing intent on his own face impossible to suppress.

"Lin Yun, you *must* die..." he seethed through gritted teeth. From the Third Commander’s perspective, the only reason this hundred-man Demon Palace force was so formidable was because of Lin Yun.

It was Lin Yun’s own blood-soaked rampage that had drawn out the deep-seated Battle Intent within his men.

If these hundred Demon Palace Warriors were a pack of starving wolves, then Lin Yun was, without a doubt, their Wolf King. With him leading them, the pack feared nothing. They would dare to fight even tigers and lions.

After a full hour, Lin Yun and his men had finally annihilated this entire wave of Divine Palace Warriors. Now, only fifty-three Demon Palace Warriors remained alive.

The men supported one another as they gathered by Lin Yun’s side. They looked at him with genuine smiles. To them, perhaps, fighting alongside Lin Yun was the most exhilarating experience of their lives.

Looking back at them, Lin Yun also offered a faint smile. Every man’s face was caked in blood, but against that crimson backdrop, their smiles looked wild and domineering.

Just as the fourth wave of Divine Palace Warriors was completely wiped out, the Second Commander arrived, leading the rest of the Divine Palace forces. There were still four thousand of them. Gazing at this new army, the smile on Lin Yun’s face didn’t fade. He spoke softly.

"This is it—the final battle. Brothers, join me for one last stand."

Lin Yun’s voice was quiet, but it rang with perfect clarity in the ears of the Demon Palace Warriors around him. They looked at the four thousand Divine Palace Warriors, all of whom were practically at full strength. The smiles on the faces of the fifty-two surviving Demon Palace Warriors grew even more defiant.
